    Cottage had ample space and great location for walks. Pub was a 5 minute drive. Leek was close too and is worth a walk around. Would recommend. Many thanks

Perched in the peaceful hamlet of Ford near Leek in Staffordshire, is this lovely four-bedroom, detached barn conversion, Ford Coach House Cottage.

Enjoying a superb location within the Peak District National Park with picturesque farmland views, Ford Coach House Cottage is a wonderful family-friendly dwelling for eight guests, along with two canine companions.

Park-up on the ample driveway, before unloading your bags and making your way into the porch to discard any coats and shoes after your journey.

Look forward to impressing your guests with your culinary skills in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, featuring a handy dishwasher, washing machine and TV, ready to enjoy the fruits of your labour at the dining table for 10 over a bottle of wine.

On warmer days, dine alfresco out in the large, rear garden, where the little ones can play, and your four-legged friends can stretch their legs.

After dinner, gather your loved ones in the spacious sitting room, with plenty of plush seating, where you can enjoy a film on the TV as your pooches snuggle up in front of the logburner.

Completing the ground floor is a cloakroom for your convenience.

Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can wash away the day with a soak in the bath or freshen up with a shower, before choosing from four well-appointed bedrooms to catch your rest in, two doubles and two twins, all of which offer idyllic views of your countryside surroundings.

Explore your local surroundings, where nearby in Waterfall, you will find the welcoming Red Lion Inn, The Marquis in Ipstones, The Black Lion at Butterton or if you fancy a bit of spice Mehek Indian Restaurant is just a 5 minute drive away, ideal for those evening's when you fancy a night off from cooking!

Also there's Cottage Kitchen, just at the top of the road for the ultimate full English or Afternoon tea.

Alton Towers itself is nearby so get your adrenaline pumping on the fast rides or relax in the large water park.Wildlife enthusiasts are well-catered for with the woodland setting of RSPB Coombes Valley and the family-friendly Peak Wildlife Park with Polar Bear as seen on TV, there is also the Beaver Hall Equestrican Centre for those wanting to try their hand at horse riding.

The hillside market town of Leek, known as "Queen of The Moorlands" is situated on the western side of The Peaks, surrounded by lovely Moorland Countryside and is within easy reach.

It offers a good selection of well-stocked shops for picking up any essentials, eye-catching Victorian William Morris-influenced architecture, art galleries, antique emporiums,the excellent Leek Golf Club and the picturesque Brough Park where you can tuck into a homemade picnic or use the swimming/leisure facilities.

8.4 miles away is The National Trust setting of Ilam Park and Dovedale, with its famous Stepping Stones across the River Dove also the spectacular Thors Cave, rising 360ft above the River Manifold with its 60ft entrance, has over the years yielded ancient bones and artefacts dating back to 600 BC.

The river provided excellent walks and cycling opportunities through wonderful rural scenery.

5 miles on being the market town of Ashbourne.

with its family-run businesses, antique shops, and quality for and drinks facilities.

Ashbourne also offers a swimming pool and leisure facilities.

Continue further into the Peak District National Park where you will find the attractions of Nine Ladies Stone Circle, Throwley Old Hall, Chatsworth House and Mam Tor.

17 miles away is Buxton where adventurers can explore the depths of the renowned Poole's Cavern, whilst others can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton Park, followed by a tour of the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery or an evening of culture at Buxton Opera House.

Where you’ll be staying

LEEK

Buxton 12 miles; Ashbourne 15 miles.

The hillside market town of Leek, known as “The Queen of the Moorlands” is situated on the western side of The Peaks and is surrounded by lovely Moorland countryside. The town has a charming cobbled market place and there are many examples of fine Victorian architecture influenced by William Morris - a reminder of the town’s prosperity when it was renowned as a silk manufacturing centre. Today Leek offers a wide selection of shops including vast antique emporiums, a good selection of restaurants, a local park and leisure facilities and real ale pubs. Situated close to Three Shires Head, the meeting point of the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire, Leek is near to Chatsworth House, Buxton Opera House and Gawsworth Hall, plus Alton Towers is within driving distance.
