Not quite the holiday home you expect in the middle of a small housing estate but wow the views are fantastic and you wouldn’t even know you were staying in a semi detached house in a small housing estate.. The house is very clean, comfy and beds are amazing! There is everything you need in the house provided which is fantastic! The owners have thought of everything. A tiny little gift in the fridge which is a lovely touch. Great location to get to all attractions. A very enjoyable stay!

Not a ‘cottagy’ property, but don’t dismiss for that.. A lovely semi, with great views, in a modern clean, friendly village. Property was clean, perfect beds, nice lounge with big TV (we never book a Sykes place if pics show a silly little TV). Great circular walk along canal from heritage railway to flint mill. Lots to do in the area.

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped.. It is in a good location for visiting a number of National trust properties, Alton towers, Waterpark, the potteries and the Peak District. It doesn't say in your advertisement that the property has a dining table and it doesn't appear in any of the photos. I thought that the only place to eat was at the breakfast bar but there is a space saving, folding dining table with 4 chairs stored underneath in the living room.

This well-equipped and very comfortable holiday house more than met our expectations.. The facilities and cleanliness of the property truly made it a home away from home. We shall definitely book this property again in the future. Thanks to all for a wonderful week.

Beautiful scenery and very quiet location, walking distance from pubs and the One Stop.. The house was very clean, kitchen very usable all the utensils etc you will need and the most awesome sofa with two reclining seats. We choose this location for walks, scenery, relaxing and fun - it ticked all the boxes. Thanks Sykes

Had a lovely week at Basford View which met my three main criteria for cottages, clean, with comfortable bed & sofa.. Added bonuses are the views from the garden & the canal side Boat Inn within walking distance.

Very clean house, well equipped, just big enough for family of two adults and two young children (3 and 7).. Very close to Churnet Valley railway which our son loved! Children enjoyed playing in the garden, and loved the playground two minutes walk away. (Garden is on a slope and has some fairly steep stone steps, so toddlers would need supervision.) Rotary washing line outdoors under cover of the carport so always dry! Kitchen small but well equipped. If eating with young children, recommend either taking a floor cover or eating in the garden or carport as we did (garden furniture available) as only space to set up the fold-down dining table is in the carpeted lounge. Local shop about 10mins walk and well stocked with essentials.

This property was absolutely fabulous. I wanted areas to go fishing and the owner researched, left several sites and left directions as well as printed maps of the area.

We stayed at Basford View for a month in May and really enjoyed our holiday. The property was in a lovely location, very clean and the owner Paul was very helpful. The area is lovely for walking and only three miles from the main town of Leek. There are three pubs in walking distance offering good food and ale and a couple of shops and chemist nearby. The house contained everything we needed, with a lovely garden maintained by Paul and beautiful views looking towards the Peak district and Churnet valley. will definitely return soon.

A superb, modern property, which looks to have been recently refurbished. After arriving I felt this is somewhere I could live! Very nice views to front and rear, due to the elevation at which the house was set. Very convenient to access the Churnet Valley Railway and the Flint Mill in particular, but also countryside in general.
