Area The parish of Sykehouse is a collection of hamlets split in two by the New Junction Canal, which provides lovely walks along its banks. It is bordered by the beautiful South Yorkshire countryside. The settlement of Sykehouse, known as the Longest Village in Yorkshire, is the largest village within this parish. The settlement, which includes the Grade II listed parish church of the Holy Trinity, has a welcoming tavern called The Old George and a number of other listed structures. Although the tower was constructed in the early 18th century, the church was constructed in 1869 using red brick and in the Gothic Revival style. The Sykehouse Russet apple, assumed to be extinct but later found flourishing in the Doncaster region in 1999, takes its name from the village of Sykehouse, which also serves as the location of the Sykehouse Arena Equestrian Center.
