Area
The scattered village of Westhope is located amidst rolling farmland at the southern foot of the famous Wenlock Edge in Hope Valley. The area is home to numerous walks, rambling trails and cycle routes whilst many of Shropshire's main attractions are within easy driving distance of the village itself. Visitors can enjoy Church Stretton - known to the Victorians as Little Switzerland - with its antique shops and tea-rooms, in the midst of the beautiful Long Mynd Hills and close to the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm and the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. The World Heritage Site at Ironbridge, Attingham Park, the market towns of Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury and Ludlow are all within easy reach, leaving visitors to the area spoiled for choice.

Region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

The Old Cowshed was a lovely cottage, everything we hoped for, accept for one thing, very disappointed in the fact that if there are a lot of young adults staying in the adjoining cottage, " Turnip Cottage " who have no thought for other people, they were partying to 3 in the morning, which would cause me to never recommend this cottage to anyone, as i noticed from the visitor book, this was not the first time someone has experienced the same problem, so either the owners of the cottages or Sykes Holidays have taken no notice of the comments before and put a warning that this can happen.. Ruined the weekend away for both my wife and myself. Such a shame because somebody has work hard to provide very good quality cottages. I have used Sykes Holiday Cottages many times to book cottages and have always been pleased with the cottages we have booked, but this was a real disappointment. Stephen. Pembrokeshire

The Old Cowshed looked very interesting on the details - in fact it exceeded expectations.. Very comfortable and clean with a lot of thought having gone into the whole set-up. We did feel it was somewhat isolated and may have been a small problem if the weather had been bad (which it was not!). Also the TV reception was very poor but did not spoil the very enjoyable stay; Thank you.

A beautiful cottage in a very peaceful location.. Perfect for our family with our little one. There is a group of about 4-5 cottages so would be great to go as a big group of you. We had a very comfortable stay with lots of exploring to do all around. A car is essential as it is very isolated. The only thing we would suggest is the kitchen was a little under equipped.

Amazing property.. Lovely location. Exceeded our expectations by a long way. Super clean. Very cosy and warm. Fantastic location. Lovely bottle of wine, home made fruit loaf, flowers and chocolate when we arrived. Linen and towels included - which reduces a lot of packing space and hassle. Enclosed back courtyard was great for our dog. Free BBQ starter pack was way and above our expectations. Fantastic kitchen and cooking facilities, pots, pans and utensils, including washing machine, washing up liquid, dishwasher and tablets, foil, cling film, tea, coffee, sugar!!! Books, DVDs, and leaflets about local areas of interest. Games room for the boys. Brilliant king size bed with dressing area and ginormous bathroom, with double shower and bath. Love, love, loved it.

Have answered 'no' to the question 'would you re-book? '. This is not related to the quality of the accommodation, merely that we don't go to the same place twice.

Everything in the The Olde Cowshed has been designed for a 'home from home' experience and all in a high standard of finish. It has been described as an oasis of calm, and it really is. There was a lovely welcome when we arrived and the owners were really helpful when approached.

The family that own the cottages were just brilliant. They were at hand to help with anything we needed and when I left part of my blender in one of the cottages, they posted it back to me and didn't even charge me for the postage. They were just fantastic. The cottages were beautiful and we are already planning when we will visit again as the area and walks in Shropshire were fantastic as well. Incredibly comfortable place to stay and reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be visiting again.
