  • "We really enjoyed our stay, it is a special place and has given us lots of lasting happy memories."

Even the wildlife was amazing, we watched four Muntjac and a fawn and a Barn Owl in the neighbouring fields. A few minor observations; blinds in the main front room would be helpful, the en suite could do with the ceiling being treated with mould repellent and a few of the interior walls could do with a paint. The local cat, although very pretty kept coming into the house and as I'm allergic to cats this was a problem. Please discourage holiday makers from allowing the cat to come into the premises. That said, we had an amazing holiday, thank you.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and taking the time to reply to this. Amazing to be able to see wildlife and help create such happy memories. We appreciate your comments and will get these looked into with the property manager. Best wishes Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The property

Located in the civil parish in Thames Valley is the stunning Lower Farm Barn.

Sleeping a total of 8, this is the perfect home for a retreat to the Cotswolds.

Upon pulling up on the private driveaway, you will instantly feel right at home.

To your left you will firstly find the kitchen/diner, the perfect space for the chefs of the party to prepare only the best home-cooked meals, as you proceed to set the dining table and feast upon a ravishing meal, after a day’s activities.

Further left you will find bedroom 2; A king-size room with a stunning view to the land that surrounds it.

Exiting this, is bathroom 2 which contains a walk-in shower, bath, hand basin, and WC.

Moving down the hall you will find bedroom 3; A twin room that has once again, a beautiful view of the outside area of the property.

Bedroom 4 found at the far end of the corridor, which contains a generous king-size bed and fixed cot, as well as an ensuite which holds a walk-in shower, hand basin, and WC.

The utility room for the property can be located at the back door of this bedroom, which also leads outside as well.

Moving around to the other side of Lower Farm Barn is the sitting room 1.

This space is just what you need after a day of adventure, as you sip on a crisp glass of wine over the wood burning stove, whilst the kids compete in an exhilarating game of pool.

If you are wanting a bit of a quiet space that is out of the way, move through to sitting room 2.

This is a smaller space but one that is just what you need for a quiet evening away from the kids to really unwind during your stay.

Above this room is the first floor, where bedroom 1 is located.

This is equipped with a double bed, and ensuite which has a roll-top bath with hand held shower, hand basin and WC.

Outside of the property is a beautiful area of green for the kids to run around and let off their energy on a bright summer’s day, whilst the adults of the group relax at the bench located in the middle.

(Note: The garden is fenced but not fully enclosed.

There are sheep in the surrounding fields so dogs and children must be kept under close control).

If you fancy adventuring further afield, why not take a trip to Minster Lovell, where you can explore the ruins of Minster Lovell Hall – a photographic 15th century manor that sits beside the River Windrush – the perfect place to enjoy a picnic on a summer’s day.

A further trek and you will find yourself in the stunning city of Oxford.

This timeless place has plenty to keep you occupied.

With top-end brand shops, museums such as the Ashmolean, and university gardens to explore all within walking distance, you can’t go wrong on a day out here.

About the location

BAMPTON

Witney 4 miles; Burford 8 miles and Oxford 19 miles.

The thriving village of Bampton lies in the Thames Valley in the southern Cotswolds, amidst beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. Bampton is one of the oldest villages in England boasting a village shop, Post Office, butcher, and traditional pubs serving good food and real ales, all set around a pretty market square. Ancient customs can still be experienced with the regular morris dancing festivities, which have been enjoyed for over 600 years. Just four miles away is the riverside town of Witney, which offers many attractions including a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages, an 18th century town hall, and Wychwood Brewery. Burford is possibly one of the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. With little changing over the centuries. Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for it's shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. Oxford, the oldest university city in England, boasts interesting Botanical Gardens, museums and libraries, and plays host to many festivals and markets throughout the year. Enjoy a punt on the River Thames or take a boat trip on the River Cherwell. The ancestral home of Winston Churchill and the World Heritage Site of Blenheim Palace is just a short drive away, where many lovely walks can be enjoyed around the landscaped parkland. With so much nearby, Bampton provides a wonderful holiday destination.
