This rather serious-looking stone building in the centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed was built back in the middle of the nineteenth century and used to be a school. Today, however, it has been completely renovated to the point where you would have no idea that these were once classrooms. In the main living-come-dining area, big windows look out into the garden and the estuary in the distance, as well as bathing the space in natural light. A bio-ethanol fireplace sits at one side of the room and provides a more eco-friendly way of warming up cold hands. When the weather's more agreeable, the home has some private outdoor space, as well as access to a shared courtyard that backs onto the old town walls. The town's pier and lighthouse can be reached in less than fifteen minutes' walk, as can the beach. You can also cross over the Scottish Border in around ten minutes by car, too.

About The Northumberland Coast

Right at the top of England, Northumberland’s great expanse is dotted with medieval strongholds that have seen many a bloody battle. A landscape rich with history, you can explore the crumbling ruins of clifftop castles or tour restored and retained masterpieces at Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle. Fishing villages punctuate the sweeps of undiscovered beaches along the coastline. Tangles of lobster pots sit on old stone harbours while boats trundle...

This home is managed by Sarah

This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Sarah's husband is originally from Berwick-upon-Tweed, so when they decided to get into the hosting game, the location emerged as a strong contender from which to start. They still love visiting the area and walking with their dogs and children, and are happy to share their favourite routes.

This home is nominated for the Plum Guide Award.
