Not here – this lovely Northumbrian cottage is surrounded by rolling countryside, with a beach just 10 miles away. You can start each day with a paddle and a bracing march along the shore, and pass afternoons exploring the countryside. History-buffs will enjoy discovering the ruin of the 13th-century Edlingham Castle nearby – we love that you can set off on gorgeous walks right from the doorstep here. Historic Alnwick and its spectacular castle are only 6 miles away, too. When you’re not muddying your boots or tucking into fish and chips, you’ll love spending time in the garden. It’s enclosed so four-legged friends and little ones alike can play safely while you sip mugs of tea and take in the glorious views. If the weather is a touch more British and you need to shelter inside, you might curl up around the log burner. Rest your weary feet and spend evenings catching up around the fire – what a perfect way to end the day.
