We enjoyed our 2 weeks at the cottage, many thanks to Sue and John for the extensive welcome pack. The weather wasn't hot enough to take advantage of the lovely garden and sun loungers but we had plenty of outside seating. Towels, washing up liquid, cloth, iron and board provided. There is a full electric cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer box and you have access to a washer and tumble dryer. The Widdrington Inn is a minute away and is good for meals {check opening times as we found it was closed Sunday evening and all day Monday} Morrisons is the nearest large supermarket (inc petrol) 5 minutes down the road to Amble but there are plenty of supermarkets around the area. It is worth visiting Amble market on Sunday, Craster is a lovely old fishing village and Alnwick has a lovely fish and chip shop (Carlo's) where they also have delicious ice cream. Fantastic coastal walks and beaches make this a favourite area to visit.

The property is accessed via a fairly steep but short slope which maybe difficult for some people to access.. Our hostess was very welcoming notwithstanding the current health situation and we were greeted with a lovely box of chocolates and a bottle of wine, which was lovely. The bed was spacious and comfortable; the living area and kitchen was light and airy with a seaside theme which added to the holiday feel. We can recommend the pub 100 yards around the corner, the food is good and well priced. The horses and cows in thee adjoining field are very friendly and if you stand by the fence they will come over and say 'hello' . All in all a great location for exploring Northumberland and would thoroughly recommend this as a good place to stay.

The cottage was well equipped, very clean with the best bed we have slept in for a long while.. The cottage despite being next door to the pub was tranquil and restful. John our host booked a meal in the pub for us the food was excellent . John and Sue were on hand if needed but they had thought of everything . Including tea, coffee, sugar and a welcome bottle of wine. Superb hosts and would not hesitate to stay at Bracken Barn cottage again and recommend to friends. It is ideally located to visit many of the attractions and towns in the area. Despite storm ' Ciara' arriving during our break nothing dampened our spirits, in fact it was brilliant to watch the stormy seas on the nearby beach. We were looking for a comfortable quiet retreat in a secluded situation yet close to shops and places to eat and not far from places of interest, the cottage ticked all the boxes.. We had a homely welcome from Sue and John who assured us that they were on hand if any problems occurred,we settled down to a relaxing week enjoying some great meals at the local pub and touring the area. All rounded off with a bottle of wine from Sue and John

We had such a lovely welcome, our hosts did everything to ensure we enjoyed our holiday and nothing was too much trouble.. Druridge Bay is just a few minutes away in the car and is stunning, as were all the beaches we visited in the area. We would not hesitate in recommending the cottage or the area, superb!

The cottage was exactly as advertised.. Although in the grounds of the owners they were there, but were unobtrusive if you like your privacy. I was ideally situated for easy access to the Northumberland coast and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was comfortable and I had everything I needed including a bottle of wine to welcome me and a plate full of Quality Street. Both nice touches. Was there any drawback. Yes there was. As from next year they will not be accepting bookings from people who want to bring dogs, which is a great shame, as I am a dog owner and it will stop me from going again. However as it probably smelt doggy after I left you cannot blame them as they have to think of other non-doggy people.

The accommodation was excellent and in a super location for exploring or revisiting the Northumberland coast. The owners were on hand if you needed anything and they were lovely people. Being dog friendly was an advantage. It was so peaceful and there was more than adequate parking.

A very special holiday in a lovely cottage. The owners were friendly and had taken great care in organising and presenting their beautifully welcoming and well-appointed property. It was a truly dog-friendly cottage and the owners understood our needs very well. We really hope to visit again as Widdrington made a great base for exploring Northumberland. Lovely - thank you!

We stayed in this cottage for a week between Christmas and New Year and were not disappointed. The cottage is tastefully decorated and well equipped, even catering for our dog. The location is ideal, with a beautiful beach either a 40 minute walk or 5 minute drive away and a lovely pub next door.

This was a delightful cottage and ideally suited for trips out. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful in every way. The décor throughout was bright and cheerful - even on the dull wet days we encountered. They welcomed our dog and she loved the various walks around and about. The pub, literally next door, served wonderful food and huge portions, and a visit to the farm shop is not to be missed. I would most definitely recommend Bracken Barn Cottage to all.

The cottage was perfect. The owners were the best of hosts, attentive but not invasive with a profuse welcome and eagerness to please. The cottage was perfectly sited near numerous long sandy beaches and lots of places and eateries which were dog friendly. I will definitely be going again and will be re-booking quickly as I think once people have been here they will come again.
