We have just stayed at Town Head Farm cottage and although it is a lovely house it is in desperate need of re-decoration and a deep clean. The whole house was covered in cobwebs which I can understand a few as in the country but they must have been there months. I had to take one shower head off to clean it as it was disgusting and the trim on the bottom of the shower screen was also full of grime. We did have a problem with the washing machine but this was sorted promptly and a new one installed. I do think that the price we payed for the cottage did not reflect its cleanliness or decor. The village is beautiful as is the surrounding area.

The cottage was tired and run down - tv didn’t work properly, no controller for the DVD player... it was quite dirty and just generally unloved. This wasn’t cheap either... When we arrived we were greeted by a bottle of wine which was nice but all that was undone by the fact the heating nor water hadn’t been put on and with elderly folk we had to put it on and leave for the pub returning an hour later. The house was Damp - the radiator in the kitchen didn’t work - the furniture smelt of damp too To the people that own the cottage - if you can’t be bothered please don’t take peoples money as it is unfair ? Malham is beautiful and this is perfectly located to get out and about. - not for young kids as there is nothing to do without a properly working tv or working DVD and no phone signal or internet - there is no WiFi at all - if you go, take lots of toys and puzzles but I would seriously think about going unless you are just using it as a hub for walking - if you are the hostels would be far cheaper and offer more I’ve used Sykes for years but I’m really disappointed- I never leave reviews but I feel I should here to warn other away

Third visit to this property as a group of 8.. Well appointed and clean. Brilliant for 8 people, plenty of space. Good pubs close by as well as plenty to do and see if you like the outdoors. We will keep going back many times. Highly recommended.

Great house - very clean, very spacious, perfect for families with young children, the built in baby gate at the top of the stairs was an excellent touch, meant the two children could be let loose upstairs! All equipment you would expect and more, comfy sofas, great views from the living room, lovely spacious dining room. Great location, minutes away from an excellent family friendly pub serving lovely food. Lots of exploring and walks straight from the front door!

A beautiful house with plenty of character.. Perfectly situated within easy strolling distance for both Malham Cove in one direction and the village hostelries in the other. A tawny owl roosting in the large horse chestnut tree next door. Inside, comfortable sofas, quirky floor levels and a nice selection of antique furniture. We would certainly book again if up that way.

The cottage was very old and quirky with leaning floors which made the holiday special.. The garden is in need of some work.

I've got to say a lovely, lovely cottage.. Very spacious and a great base for Malham and surrounding areas. I'd use again. Additionally the holiday was a real treat. It's a small thing ( and only a small thing as made aware from owner) however there was no gas central heating available for the weekend we arrived and the upstairs rooms were pretty unusable as so cold. Trust me I'm from Scotland - I know cold!!!! So until gas man arrived on Sunday we had no real heating in a big cold property. As I say Pamela ( owner) made us aware of it in advance by writing a note to explain and completely outwith her control which I appreciate. I totally understood but not really my concern for a property rental advertising GCH. That said was great after that concern. Probably only thing missing is Sky TV and internet but I like my electronics and appreciate dales is a little traditional which is equally important/ nice

Lovely break for a surprise 65th birthday for my husband.. Worked out very very and what a surprise for him. Thank you to Pam for the bottle of red wine and easter egg hunt basket, very thoughtful. We were there over the Easter holiday, weather could have been better but didnt keep us in. Also would like to thank Colin the shepherd for his information about the area and the farm and for showing us the new lambs. Grandchildren really loved it too and we will be back, hopefully next week but this time it will be for a week

We had a lovely stay with our family.. A really spacious comfortable property and such a beautiful location. Lots of great walks and plenty of wildlife. Enjoyed a meal at the Lister Arms. Minor thing. Would benefit from more wine glasses and tumblers in the property and also had to take our own tea towels.

Went here for a weekend as a group of 4 couples celebrating my 50th birthday. It was perfect. The cottage is a good size - plenty of room for everyone. Well equipped. Located really well. No need to use the car once here. Walked up Malham Tarn and Cove on Sat afternoon which took around 3-4 hrs. Ate at The Buck Inn one evening. Food was good. One bonus was having no wifi and patchy phone signal. It meant that we weren't on our devices all weekend which made the weekend even more relaxing. Would def return.

A lovely cottage, really traditional and nicely furnished and equipped, just on the edge of Malham. Malham has become incredibly popular now and from the cottage we walked up to Malham Cove, over the top to the limestone pavement and across the fells to Malham Tarn. The next day we visited Janet's Foss waterfall and Gordale Scar, again easily accessible from the cottage. An enjoyable long weekend and chance for a group of friends to catch up.

Spent a weekend here as a group of 8.. It was perfect. Great location. Parked the car when we got here and didn't have to use it again. Well equipped cottage. Had everything we needed. Lots of space. A great bonus was having no wifi and patchy phone signal as it meant we weren't all on our devices all weekend. Ate at The Buck Inn one night which was good and a 5 min walk away. Walked up Malham Tarn and Cove which was great. Having the cottage right at the end of the walk was even better. Would def recommend.

October 2016
A lovely cosy cottage that met the needs of 6 adults well.. The fact that there were two double and two twin bedrooms was a real draw as there were two couples and two single people in the party. The kitchen was well equipped, the bathrooms were fine and the living accommodation was lovely. The location was excellent with three lovely pubs and a couple of shops to potter about in, the walking in the immediate vicinity was great.

The cottage is very pretty and in a great location, clean and very comfortable. It definitely needs some decent kitchen knives buying though! Our visit was tarnished by a power cut the first night that lasted around 6 hours, and then again on the 3rd day which had happened when we woke up and lasted until mid afternoon. Unfortunately, everything in the house is electric (cooker, showers, everything) so we were completely stumped. Also, in a separate issue, the dishwasher wasn't working so we had to wash up quite a lot too.

The house was very comfortable and spacious. It was very handy for the village and also for Malham Cove and Gordale Scar. We enjoyed being in Malham itself, it is a lovely village with a great family pub and it is very central for exploring the Dales. There is plenty to do in the Dales for families.

The house was great for our two families, with plenty of space to spread out. The children enjoyed the garden which felt perfectly safe from the road. The living and dining rooms were great for relaxing, eating and playing in, and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare food and clear up afterwards.

We were a group of four couples. The cottage was everything we needed, there was enough space for us all. The facilities in the cottage was as described. It was a lovely peaceful retreat. We went for lovely walks to Malham cove and the Tarn, it was not a long walk but due to it being rocky and uneven it felt harder and longer. We had New Year's Eve in LIster arms which we had previously booked, the food, atmosphere was really pleasant everyone enjoyed their meals. There are two pubs within 5 minutes walk, both are not cheap for drinks. Previous reviews state The Buck Inn is the most expensive, we had 2 large wines and three beers which came to £32. Lister arms is a little cheaper. We would definitely go back to Town Head Farm, well recommended.

We were lucky enough to stay at Town Head Farm this weekend to celebrate my mum and dads 40th wedding anniversary. We were a party of 7 which the house easily housed, never feeling crammed. Initially we all worried about the lack of phone signal and wifi, but in the end it stopped us reaching for our phones all the time and enjoy each other's company that bit more. The house was in a fantastic location, near great walks and sights. We failed to undertake most of these due to awful weather, but the house was warm and cosy and strolling distance to two great pubs. Both of these offered free wifi (for those who needed it) and really fantastic food. The fish and chips at the buck inn is highly recommended. An amazing time was had by all, and we are hoping to book next year so we can enjoy the sights without torrential rain. Highly recommended if you fancy getting away from it all (except two great pubs). Thank you x

A group of 5 of us stayed here in May. I can't find a fault with it to be honest. The only negative (which was a positive as it turns out) is no wifi. If you're like like, having little to no phone signal, and no wifi is a bit distressing to start with, but actually enhanced our break. The place itself is very homely, and well presented, offering all you could want. It's location is fantastic - turn right out of the drive and a 5 minute walk and you reach the 1st pub, turn left out of the drive and you are at the gate leading up to the cover. For anyone wanting a peaceful break, give it a try - Malham and the surrounding area is typical Yorkshire dales - An amazing place. There are several pubs (only tried 2 of them) and the food was great in both.

February 2015
The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable for all 8 of us. The location is perfect and we really enjoyed being able to walk down to the Cove so easily. Having 2 pubs in walking distance was also appreciated for our evening out. Despite the chilly time of year, the cottage was lovely and warm and there was always plenty of hot water.

We stayed at this farmhouse for a weekend to celebrate my Mother in law's birthday and it was brilliant for our needs. It's easy to find at the end of the village and has loads of car parking space which is good when it sleeps eight! we actually had my little boy on his travel bed to make the party nine but we spoke to the owners in advance who were very helpful in arranging this for us. We have found out in the past at other holiday rentals that there can often be insurance implications for taking more people than the owners suggest so please always check in plenty of time if you have an extra like we did!! The farmhouse has recently been decorated and has been done so very tastefully and gives a great environment in which to totally relax. There is enough space for eight adults to be comfortable and it's great to have a large dining room to all sit properly together for meals. The kitchenware, tableware and linen provided are all of a high quality and give the impression that somebody has made a significant investment in making this place a great holiday let. The garden would be a great little sun trap in the summer but as it was January we had some snow and the garden was just big enough with a gentle enough slope for my 2yo son to really get used to the idea of sledging. He also made friends with the farmer next door who invited us to go and look at his sheep who had just lambed and they had great fun waving at each other every time the farmer went past on his quad!! The village is the ideal typical Dales village. It has everything that you'd need for a weekend stay within walking distance. As you're on the edge of the village you just need to turn left out of the drive and you're immersed in the countryside instantly - bliss! We spent a fair amount of time in the beck 'fishing' with sticks and feeding the ducks. It is shallow and slow enough for children to play safely if supervised and there's lots of interesting things to explore for in the wooded area with small children too. The only thing that I would've liked that we didn't have was wifi but some people would count it as a bonus not to have it! We're already planning our next trip to Town Head Farm!

A very spacious house. The décor is excellent and the location was perfect for those keen on walking and those keen to wander to the pub. The house was very well heated and there was plenty of parking space. Highly recommended by one and all.

A charming well provisioned cottage in a glorious position for walking around Malham. Plenty of parking space and, most essential, within walking distance if two pubs.

The location is perfect! So close to walking to the Cove but also close enough for a short walk to the Pubs etc. Also feels secure but also secluded. House is spacious and warm and modernly kitted out with plenty of parking, we had 4 cars!

August 2014
We were two families of three and four respectively, with three children aged 6 - 10. We didn't really know what to expect as it was difficult to find recent reviews online, and the photos looked a bit staged. Also the external appearance in the photos was, well, drab. **Don't judge a book by its cover** This place is lovely, absolutely lovely. The owners have decorated and furnished it to a high standard, everything was clean and fresh, the beds were comfy, the kids loved running around inside and out. If we were to go back to the Dales I doubt we'd look to stay anywhere else, it's that good. The kitchen is new and modern, there's a great washing machine / dryer (essential for Yorkshire weather), and you can use the lockable outbuilding for drying muddy boots and wet coats. There's a shower room off the kitchen and the shower is heavenly! The dining room is plenty big enough for seven of us to sit down in comfort or spread maps out on the table to lan the next day's adventure. There's a door out to the front garden which is a sun trap (if you're lucky enough to see the sun, as we were). The sitting room is down a couple of stone steps and, again, is just really lovely and comfortable. Upstairs there are two double rooms and two twins, and a bathroom. Beds were really comfy (actually I can only vouch for one bed - it wasn't that sort of group holiday...!) and the bathroom huge. It's a working farm still so you might see Colin the shepherd / stockman on his ATV during the day, but we never felt overlooked or lacking in any privacy. If you like wildlife you can just sit in the garden and watch redstarts, grey wagtails, tawny owl (we think it roosts in the outbuilding but has the odd habit of flying - and hooting - during the day), even peregrines. Malham Cove is a short, easy walk but we were as impressed by Gordale Scar. As for local pubs the Lister Arms is fabulous, really good food and beer and very family-friendly (and free WiFi if the children need an iPad fix after walking for miles). The other pub served good food and beer too but isn't as nice as the Lister Arms. The National Park information centre is well worth a visit for the weather forecast if nothing else - the best bit about Town Head Farm is that there's no mobile signal so you can have a real holiday away from it all, but it does mean you can't get a weather forecast for the next day. Also well worth a visit is Town End Farm Shop and tea room in the next village. Lovely food and very friendly and helpful staff. Overall we give this five stars as it's a great place for a family holiday.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage and it was suited perfectly for our needs. Plenty of room to accommodate 8 without feeling crowded and a good sized garden too! Malham is a home to several awesome Yorkshire Dales attractions including the Tarn, the Cove, Goredale Scar and Janet's Foss as well as a wealth of lovely hay meadows and the cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy them all.

March 2014
The location is spectacular, couldn't have asked for any better. The property was sensational, felt more like we were borrowing someone's home than staying in a holiday let. Fresh milk was left in the fridge, and tea, coffee and sugar already there. Cleaning products (dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid) were also there. The rooms are huge, and great for socialising. The beds and linen were really comfortable. Downstairs shower was really good and powerful. The farmer next door was really friendly. Great selection of games, books and DVDs.

I enjoyed the location of the cottage in Malham as I had never been to the Yorkshire Dales. Scenery was beautiful and loved walking in the hills. Cottage was as I expected with some uneven floor boards up stairs and wooden beams on some ceilings. It was nice to have been left a welcome bottle of wine and some provisions. The kitchen was well stocked and I was impressed to see Denby crockery in the cupboards!

The cottage is a lovely cottage with a spacious sitting room and dining room, a really sociable space for a group of family or friends to enjoy a weekend together. We could not have wished for a better base for our family holiday: plenty of short, varied walks suitable for young children from the door (ours are aged 1-10), with the pubs and cafes close by in the village. The house was very well equipped and furnished to a high standard, with plenty of space in and out for our four children to "scatter". We loved the little welcome gifts too. The only complaint from the children was the lack of wifi, however, we just had to spend more time in the (free wifi) pub, what a shame!

Amazing situation - this is the nearest building to Malham Cove (an easy stroll away), with pubs, cafes and the odd shop in attractive Malham village. It is a wonderful walking area and also has plenty to do for families and those who are not so active. We loved the house - the photos don't really do it justice. It is full of character but with all mod. cons. and very tastefully furnished - it was renovated in 2009 for holiday rentals. Kitchen equipment is all good quality and we had everything we needed. We had a minor problem with the heating and were impressed by how quickly the owner responded and sorted it out.

We didn't realise just how close to Malham's beauty spots we would be, what a result! The cottage itself lived up to our every expectation, and more. We loved how spacious the cottage was and it's homely charm. I would like to thank the owners for the special welcome gifts and for sharing this great place to stay. We will definitely recommend Town Head Farm to others. What a great holiday! Thank you.

My family and I booked Town Head Farm for a week for some special family time away from it all. We were absolutely delighted with the cottage and could not believe how well placed the cottage was. You are literally across the road from the approach to Malham Cove and there are a couple of pubs about 5mins walk down the road. The scenery is completely gorgeous, and if walking is your thing, you will be spoilt for choice. You must go to see Gordale Scar....really impressive! The cottage itself was very well equipped indeed. We decided to cook our meals rather than eating out (meals in the pubs are approx 10-15 pounds for a main....and a round of two pints and two halves came to about a tenner) and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. The cookware and crockery was of the best quality! There was plenty of room around the dining room table for 8 adults. If you need any shopping whilst you are out there, there is a Co-op (with free cash point) about 15 mins drive away and Skipton is about half an hours drive. The lounge was comfortable and spacious and everyone said that their bed was more comfy than their own. The little ones with us had plenty of room to run around and the gated garden was a real plus. We were so pleased to see a sturdy stair gate at the top of the stairs. The only little fly in the ointment is that there are three stone steps separating the dining room and the lounge, and a gate to shut those off as well would have been really helpful. I have booked a few Sykes cottages before, and this one comes top of my recommendation list. Immaculately clean, very homely with really lovely furnishings, lots of games, music, DVDs, books, peaceful and quiet but not too remote...just right. Sykes clearly only pick the best places to represent, and I would like to thank and congratulate the owners of this cottage for sharing this great place to stay with people like us. The treats that the owners left for us when we arrived were a very thoughtful touch. If you fancy a break in the Dales, we think Malham has the most spectacular views, and Town Head Farm is highly recommended; good value for money too.

It was lovely! Ours was a family holiday, with Adults, teens a 6yr old, and we all want to go again! Location was perfect, very peaceful, no close neighbours, literally across the lane from the well-maintained footpath to Malham cove. Sunny walled garen with big lawn, ideal for children, complete with baby rabbit who visited daily! Cottage itself was just right. The owners have retained the original character and it is still very much a traditional farmhouse, but with careful renovations providing all you would expect from a high end property. Highly recommended!

The property has retained it's character as a farmhouse and has many fine pictures and pottery. The owner, had left a handwritten greeting and bottle of wine - a nice touch. The location was superb along with the four bedrooms. The property was spotless and well equipped. Furnishings from the carpet to bed linen were of an exceptional standard and the period furniture was wonderful.

On our arrival we were greeted by the owner, who explained where everything was. Due to the cold snap - the oil had not been delivered - no fault of the owner. We were provided with alternative heating, which resulted in us having a great time. Would recommend this location and property to everyone who enjoys walking or relaxing. Facilities second to none. Great weekend - great value

The photo of the house does not do it justice. The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The views from any of the windows are stunning. The Village of Malham itself is a 2 minute walk from the house with 2 pubs that provide excellent food.

A really lovely cottage in a great location. Two pubs and a cafe nearby, no service on mobile phones was a plus point!
