The property

A cosy stone terraced cottage tucked away in the lovely village of Langthwaite stylishly extended and refurbished in keeping with tradition and heritage to create the perfect holiday home. With numerous walking and cycling routes straight from the door this area is perfect for hikers and cyclists of all abilities and for dog owners.

The village itself is a quiet getaway but within easy reach of activities and beauty spots ideal for families.

The ground floor houses a lounge furnished to a lovely standard with 2 sofas (3 seater and 2 seater), flagstone floors, beamed ceiling and a woodburning fire.

The lounge leads through into the kitchen/diner created from a recent barn extension.

Spacious and light with double sliding patio doors this kitchen is beautifully furnished with feature wall tiles, modern units and appliances and tiled floor.

The dining area is great for entertaining and has a solid oak extending dining table to comfortably seat 4 to 6 guests. The family bathroom is on the ground floor, refurbished to a high standard with modern walk in shower, tiled floor, WC, vanity unit and heated towel rail. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms; 2 doubles and one twin with options for families, couples or groups of friends. The cottage is ideal for 5 guests but can sleep 6 on request. The main double is spacious and and has beautiful views leaning towards the fields and hillside beyond.

Tastefully furnished with a comfortable armchair, a 2 seat vintage leather sofa and solid oak bed.

wardrobe and vintage oak chest of drawers allow plenty of storage. The second double bedroom is part of the new barn extension with characterful pitched ceiling, exposed beams, oak floor and solid oak bed.

This room had a fantastic exposed original wooden lintel above the window.

A vintage armchair in the window is a great place to enjoy the views out to the side onto the fields beyond.

The newly refurbished twin room is suitable for both adults and children.

Full of character with beautiful dark wooden floor, 3ft solid oak single beds, slim wardrobe/drawers with matching bedside cabinet. Also on the first floor is a new toilet with sink tastefully decorated with feature tiles, mirror, vanity unit and lighting. Outside is a pleasant seating area with bench and flowers.

Additional outside chairs can be found in the woodshed opposite. The Red Lion Inn just around the corner is very popular for a lunchtime pint and a snack.

15 minutes walk (5 mins drive) away is the well known CB Inn with fantastic food and great views across Arkengarthdale. The bustling village of Reeth just 3 miles away is full of local shops, post office, tea rooms, pubs, an ice cream parlour, playground and swing bridge. Just outside Reeth the very popular Dales Bike Centre with cafe and bike hire and the Bridge Inn at Grinton. The ancient market towns of Richmond and Barnard castle lie in easy distance each elevated by splendid castles.

Leyburn and Middleham also within easy reach and the Forbidden Corner activity very popular with families.

The unspoilt Arkengarthdale village of Langthwaite is in the heart of TV’s “James Herriot Country” and is surrounded by spectacular and quite breathtaking countryside. Arkengarthdale joins Swaledale just 3 miles down the road in the popular village of Reeth, making the area a great base from which to explore all that the Dales has to offer. Langthwaite itself has a pub and just outside the village is another inn which offers food of a high standard. Pony trekking and equestrian activities are also available in the area, whilst the ancient market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle, both with splendid castles, and the quaint market town of Leyburn are all within easy motoring distance.
