Lovely, comfortable & well equipped cottage situated in a very peaceful location bang in the centre of Malham. Spacious kitchen & living room, with 2 bedrooms upstairs & a nicely fitted bathroom. Small garden to the rear which could be fully fenced in so our dog was able to explore. Parking space at the front. Great base to explore from with dog friendly walks to Malham Cove & Janet’s Foss right on the doorstep. Malham Tarn was another enjoyable walk, 10 minutes drive way. David & Kath were lovely hosts. The Lister Arms, Victoria Inn (Kirkby Malham) & Talbot Inn (Settle) all provided good beers & food, & were all dog friendly.

Tennant cottage is a lovely property in a fantastic location.. Set next to a river in the heart of the pretty village of Malham, it's ideally placed for all the popular walks around Malham cove and tarn straight from your doorstep. There are several good pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. The owners are also very friendly and helpful. All in all it's the perfect cottage for a relaxing week of walking in the Yorkshire hills and dales.

We really enjoyed our short stay at Tennant Cottage.. The cottage was homely and comfortable, in fact a real 'home from home' and despite the cold weather, the log fire made the cottage very cosy. The owners have taken every care to provide everything you need, with a well equipped kitchen, a warm modern bathroom, comfortable sofas, a huge double bed and plenty of side lamps to provide atmosphere. The location was superb, with a beautiful beck just outside and with wonderful nearby walks to Malham Cove, Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar. Malham village itself is unspoilt and boasts two very good pubs within 2 minutes of the cottage. We recommend this cottage highly.

The cottage was fabulous and the location within the village was ideal.. The kitchen/ dining room was just the right size, well equiped and the log burner in the lounge was great for those chilly evenings. Very clean, warm, and just the right garden space for three adults and two dogs. The owner Kath arrived as we were leaving and it was good to meet her as she was very friendly and the milk, loo rolls, kindly, logs etc. always a bonus upon arrival. We have stayed in many cottages over the years and this has been our favourite. A must visit for those who have not been and we will definately return.

We spent a week at tennants cottage and it was one of the best we have ever stayed at.. The cottage was clean and had everything you could want, the owners were very nice too. There was a good supply of logs for the wood burner, the kitchen was well equipped, the super king size bed was lovely. The village is beautiful and has 2 pubs within a minutes walk plus beck hall about 5 mins away where you can enjoy a drink and a meal even if you are not staying there. We ate at beck hall and the food was great, we also ate at the lister arms and the food was also good and not badly priced. There is a little cafe across the road where you can get a breakfast if you don't want to cook There are some lovely local walks, we did janets foss, malham cove and gordale scar, all were worth doing , malham cove is pretty spectacular! The only thing i would say is, if you are taking your dog with you, be aware that there is no gate at the side and so if your dog likes to wander, he could get out but it was no hardship really, all in all, we had a wonderful week and would give this cottage 5*****. we will be going again

The easiest thing to to is make the booking - the website is really easy to get around and, once you have decided on a location, you can reserve and pay in a couple of steps.. We have rented this cottage before and I would say that it is utterly perfect - clean and comfy with everything you could feasibly require to hand. The location is perfect for all outdoor activities and the scenery is breathtaking. Malham itself seems to be completely dog-friendly, which is fantastic for us and there is lots of choice as to where to eat and drink, all within a few hundred yards of the cottage. We will definitely rent this cottage again. 10/10

Lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful setting.. Cottage was clean and had everything you could want. Parking is Ian front of the cottage. There are 2 pubs in the village within easy walking distance & Old Barn Cafe was great for a coffe & bacon roll after doing one of the many local walks. Would definitely recommend property.

I would thoroughly recommend Tennant Cottage to everyone.. The cottage itself is everything it says on the tin and more! With the weather being so hot, Tennant Cottage was lovely and cool. The location of the cottage was perfect too, Malham is in such a gorgeous area, plenty to visit and do. We had a wonderful two week holiday.
Mr Smedley
May 2018
The cottage was very comfortable and by the time we left it felt like a second home.. The cottage had all "home comforts" and the bathroom was superb and very modern. The location in the centre of the village, 1 minutes walk to both pubs, was an added bonus but there was no negative noise etc from either pub considering the close proximity of both of them. Absolutely perfect on so many levels.
Mrs Walsh

Having had to cancel last years holiday at short notice, sadly losing our deposit, I was still keen to rebook Tennant Cottage for our annual break in 2015 as it seemed to tick all our boxes. We weren't disappointed! Both my husband and I agree that this is the best cottage that we have stayed in so far, and there have been many! Comfortable, homely, a super kitchen with everything you could possibly need, there was nothing that didn't exceed expectations. Just perfection, thank you!

The property is in a great location, with easily accessible walking from the doorstep. We had fantastic sunny days, sleet and snow and on the tops very fierce winds, but what a fabulous area to enjoy. The whole holiday was very relaxing.

My Brother and I stayed in this cottage in October 2014 and were blessed with really nice weather. The cottage was a real home from home for the week with everything thought of that could possibly be wanted. A good well equipped kitchen can be found upon entering and the Milk in the fridge was a nice touch. We ate out most of the time as there's two great Pubs literally on the doorstep, great food especially at The Buck Inn right opposite with Thwaites, Theakstons and Timmy Taylors, why bother turning the Oven on!! However should we have wanted to the facilities in the kitchen were second to none. The Lounge was very comfortable with TV, DVD, Games and Reading Matter all provided should you require them. Upstairs the two Bedrooms were excellent. The Master Bedroom, complete with King Size bed couldn't be better and the smaller Bedroom with two Singles was just as cozy. The Bathroom was very nice. Clean and well equipped with both a Bath and a Shower which was lovely and warm, sometimes lacking in that department in some cottages I've stayed in. A reasonably large Garden at the rear of the property and a Table and Chairs at the front completed the whole thing. Some people complained in the Visitors Book about the lack of Wi-Fi, but who wants the internet when on Holiday? BT customers could take advantage of an 'Openzone' well within receiving distance anyway. We couldn't have wished for a better cottage and the surroundings just added to the great week we had. All in all, fantastic.
Mr Crompton
October 2014
An exceptionally well appointed cottage, possibly one of the best I have ever stayed in. Lots of little touches i.e.tea, coffee and milk provided upon arrival make all the difference. The fixtures and fittings were all to a very high standard and all appear to be kept in a good state of repair. The cottage is situated almost in the centre of the village, not too far to walk to the pub opposite, yet still giving the impression of being tucked away nicely - wonderful!
Mrs Beinlich
September 2014
The cottage was cosy and warm, very clean and well equipped, we have nothing negative to say about this cottage.

September 2014
we booked this cottage for 1 week in July to explore the Yorkshire dales both walking and driving and see Le Tour. It was cosy and very well appointed with a well equipped kitchen and lovely lounge room. We only needed to walk out the door to access some wonderful walks e.g. Malham Cove and Tarn. The National Park information centre was only 5 minutes walk away. There was a kettle BBQ which we used several times but needed to provide the charcoal. It was an easy drive to Skipton and many picturesque villages. The owners lived in a nearby village and had provided us with information about the area which was very helpful. There were two good pubs a few minutes walk from the cottage both of which served good meals and beer. We had another couple join us halfway through our stay and there was plenty of room with a second bedroom with two single beds. We would certainly stay at this footage again when in the dales.

August 2014
This is a very cosy cottage which is in a superb location. It is opposite the villages 2 pubs but not to close to be disturbed by any noise from them. The countryside in the immediate vicinity is varied and beautiful. We did many direct walks from the cottage to Gordale Scar, Malham Cove and Janet's Foss. It's also in a great position to explore Wharfedale, Malhamdale and Ingleton. It was our second time at this cottage, I've stayed at many different places in the Dales and it's location really can't be bettered.
Ms Baker
August 2014
Cottage is spacious yet cosy. The location is perfect: in the centre of the village but peaceful. So many walks start from the front door: Malham Cove, Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar. Super comfortable beds and sofas, and excellent TV. Probably our favourite cottage ever.

Tennant cottage is spacious yet cosy, rough-hewn yet glamorous. The location is perfect: in the centre of the village but peaceful. So many walks start from the front door: Malham Cove, Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar... Super comfortable beds and sofas, and excellent TV. The four main rooms are beautifully styled, yet retain the cottage character. I'm sure my bedroom wall was at least one foot thick. The kitchen is well-equipped, though the cooker is slow, and the washer-dryer was particularly useful on our muddy, moist week. Probably our favourite cottage ever. Note that the garden has no front gate so cheeky dogs could easily escape.

just returned after spending 1 week at this cottage. this cottage is just what it says it is great in every way. the furnishings are excellent as are the facilities. a great kitchen diner for you all to sit round. the master bed is enormous and without doubt the most comfortable I have ever slept in. the cottage is in a perfect setting you will enjoy sitting at the front of the cottage after a long walk with a cool glass in your hand watching the world go by. in the village there are 2 pubs, we did not eat in either as they were very expensive and the portions looked small. of the 2 the lister arms was much cheaper than the buck inn. there are numerous great walks from the village. i would recommend this cottage to any one.

May 2014
The cottage is in a fantastic spot, we didn't use the car for days because you just started your walks straight from the cottage. Also there were two good pubs within 2 mins walk away and they served really good food. The cottage was very cosy and warm and we would book this cottage again.

Delightful, well appointed and beautifully positioned cottage. Lovely comfy bed, superb local walks and just over the quiet road from two cosy inns with roaring fires. Highly recommended.

November 2013
The property is well located in a quiet corner of the village alongside Malham Beck. The environment around the cottage was very peaceful with no disturbance from anyone or anything. Having 2 pubs within 2 minutes walking distance from the door was extremely useful and served us well. The cottage itself has a warm homely feeling and has everything the average couple or family need. The walking around the cottage is beautiful. Without doubt, Tennant Cottage is one of the best cottages my wife and I have ever stayed in, and the bed is one of the best we have ever slept in. We have every intention of returning to this cottage in the not too distant future, as we liked it so much. We had a lovely holiday and the cottage made it an enjoyable experience.

September 2013
A really delightful stay in Malham. The cottage is spacious, tastefully decorated and contained everything we needed. I always bring backups of various things, but didn't need any of them! The cottage is right in the centre of Malham, but also feels out of the way and quiet. The surrounding area is just beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. We holidayed with our 15 month old and he did just fine - there wasn't too much we had to move out of his reach and there was plenty of space for him to run around in. The only thing I would suggest, if your little one isn't safe on stairs, is that you bring something to use as a stair gate. Oh yes, the only downside is that with mobile signal being non-existent, the provision of wi-fi would have been really useful - unless of course you truly want to get away from it all!
Mrs Edwards
August 2013
Tennant Cottage was probably one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. Its position in the village, the sash windows, the cosy log fire, and the super bed in the main bedroom were just a few of the things that helped to make it so special. We will recommend to family and friends and will definitely stay there again.
Mrs Kilvert

July 2013
The property is perfectly placed especially if you are walkers like we are. The pubs are ok, however if you are vegitarian or gluten and wheat free would suggest trying further a field. The cottage is fully adequate with everything you could possibly need. The master bed is to die for although for those taller people remember to duck as you go through the door!!! Everything said would definitely go back to this cottage.

December 2012
My husband and I and our Siberian Cat Sasha, enjoyed our week's stay in Tennant Cottage. This was a part of the Yorkshire Dales we hadnt visited before but it was a pretty hair raising experience driving to and from Malham on the very narrow and winding lanes. We were a bit disappointed as we had booked Sunday lunch at the Buck Inn opposite but on arriving at the Pub the not too friendly barman said there was no note of our booking and would have been nice if he had at least apologised. It was not the owner of the Pub who on another night we again visited and he was very friendly. Wished we had known about no reception for mobiles in the area as you had to drive we were advised a mile or so out of the village which if there had been an emergency would have been pretty frightening. We really liked the little cafe in the village serving good quality breakfasts and other food all day. For us the location was a little distant as we were not "walkers" to other amenities but it didnt detract from the area which is beautiful. However Tennant Cottage was the cleanest cottage we have ever rented and very well presented and furnished.
Dr Keeney

October 2012
Location was excellent, just perfect for walking. There was enough places to eat out and light shopping without being over commercialised. We would certainly return in the future. I liked the ease of access to the property and the fact that the owners didn't pester us nor ask me for ridiculous sums of money as a deposit for breakages that hadn't taken place. Very good cottage.
Mr Rix

Closeness of the National Park Information Centre. Many walks to interesting places within easy distance. Village location not too overcrowded. Likeable people - very helpful friendly.

July 2012
A very comfortable, cosy cottage right in the centre of Malham, just a few yards from both (excellent) pubs. The card and flowers, wood for stove and real pint bottle of milk were very welcoming! Everything we could have wanted in the kitchen, including wrap for sandwiches, but still plenty of space to cook and a lovely big table for eating and spreading out maps. The cosy living room with wood-burning stove was great for the cool evenings after damp days out walking, and the bedroom was very comfortable, even I slept well! We'd love to return sometime.

February 2012
We absolutely loved the cottage and the village. When we arrived the owner had left tea, coffee and milk. These little touches were very welcome. The area has many different walks for all different abilities and Settle and Skipton are not far away if we wanted a change. We have no faults with our trip. We will definitely book the same cottage in the summer.
