We had a lovely stay at Bridle cottage.. The property location was perfect for exploring the Dales. Settle is perfect with everything you need right on the doorstep. Bridle cottage was a cosy and comfortable base to return to after a great day out. We would definitely recommend!

Charming old town house with nicely updated interior providing comfortable modern facilities without compromising its charm.. Ideally situated to enjoy the facilities in Settle and obtain the best of the local public transport to gain access to the surrounding Dales and all they offer.

This is a super little cottage right in the heart of Settle and very close to train and bus links.. Great for walkers, or just a stay in a place with beautiful scenery.

The way both the owner of the cottage, and Sykes Cottages handled the fact that construction was taking place during the visit was excellent.. The fact I heard from Sykes Cottages before hand, and the fact that the owner and Sykes Cottages offered a portion of the cost back, really soothed my nerves every time my brain was being rattled by drilling and banging. It turned what could have been a huge inconvenience and a nasty surprise into more of an "Oh well, such is life" sort of situation.

Bridle cottage is lovely it has all you could need for a break in the Dales.. It is very well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The place is very clean and cosy especially when the log fire is burning. The cottage is down a side street very close to the town centre perfect for walking to the local pubs which are very welcoming. We parked in the local car park which is very close to the cottage and paid £15 for seven days so we could come and go as we pleased. The train station is within walking distance too. We found both the owners and Sykes cottages couldn't have been more helpful and we would highly recommend Bridle Cottage.

The cottage was not as comfortable as it seemed in the description.. We arrived on a chilly Winters day and the cottage was very cold when we set foot in the door - we lit the log burner and turned up the central heating but it took a long time to heat the 3 floors. There were 3 of us and the position of the TV in the living room was such that it was difficult for all of us to watch it. We feel the cottage was overpriced in relation to others we have stayed in.

Bridle Cottage is a lovely little cottage in the centre of Settle, near to buses, train station and shops, pups etc.. it is lovely and quiet. I was more than pleased with the cottage, I will hopefully be staying again. It is lovely and clean and comfortable. With a welcome bottle of milk and packet of biscuits, thank you! I loved using the log burner, which was easy to use.

August 2018
Had a lovely week in this small but cosy cottage in a great location next to the market square in Settle.. Apart from a single day of rain we had glorious weather for the end of August to enjoy walks and the views. Settle Carlisle rail trip was a highlight. Comfy beds, excellent shower, well equipped kitchen, TV with all the channels and catch-up, and a log burner ensured a pleasant time for all was had.

The Cottage was small but perfect for what we wanted.. The stairs were a bit precarious, but we managed. The boiler was quite noisy but again nothing that spoiled our holiday. The Cottage was well placed for the buses and the trains. We even managed to see the Dalesman steam train go through Settle. The only thing that marred an otherwise perfect week was the 2 day train strike which limited us to where we could go as we had come by train.

April 2018
Being OAPs we loved that Bridle Cottage was central for everything.. The bedrooms especially were big and the beds comfy. Loved that we had bath sheets and not just bath towels. Sykes took all the worry out of it by giving us reminders about the payments, driving instructions and clear 'key' details. Would definitely return.

The living room area is in need of redecoration.. It is a gloomy and dusty room with very poor lighting. I had to buy new light bulbs to brighten the room up as all lighting had low watt bulbs in and werent effective. Also TV and DVD player were very old . DVD player didnt work , had a loud buzzing sound and all the remote controls struggled to work as old / maybe batteries hadnt been changed for so long? Kitchen utensils need replacing. The chopping boards are so old theyve gone discoloured, which is awful. I feel the owner really needs to check over the downstairs of the house and put alot more effort and money into updating and replacing . I feel this cottage in current state should be no more than £400 per week and i feel paying £550 was very overpriced for what we got.

November 2014
We stayed in Bridle Cottage in November. We loved it from the moment we arrived. The living room is warm and cosy with the log fire, and the whole house was clean and comfortable. Settle is lovely with its unique shops and traditional pubs and the cottage is right in the centre of it all. We enjoyed four days of walking with our dog, it was a bit chilly so Bridle Cottage was the perfect place to warm up and have a mulled wine in the afternoons.
Mrs Tomkins

July 2014
It was quiet, comfortable, attractive and close to everything. We could walk everywhere, and spent considerable time doing so. We love Settle; we once spent a month there 28 years ago and have always wanted to go back again; we were not disappointed. This time we really saw it and although it had changed, it was still the same: friendly, busy (not just with walkers, however, but with bicyclists and many other tourists) with a very good tourist office. This time we spent more time in the town, enjoying the pubs, taking nearby walks, and just chatting with the inhabitants. Best of all: the Dales are still as beautiful as they were 28 years ago and you can still find areas that are un-crowded.

July 2014
Settle is a wonderful location, especially for people who (like us) don't have a car. It has good transport links and good amenities. The house was comfortable, well furnished, and excellently situated close the the centre of Settle, near to both the shops and the station.

This was the second time we've stayed here. The location is fantastic. The cottage itself is very well appointed and spotlessly clean. It felt very homely and warm. We would come back in the future.

April 2014
A wonderful find! We particularly liked the position in Central Settle. The bed was amazing - 7ft wide and so comfortable, I have never slept so well on holiday! We loved the wood burning stove, and the well equipped kitchen. We made full use of the excellent cooker, preparing most of our evening meals at home. The extra touches of fresh eggs, milk, coffee, tea bags biscuits were so thoughtful - a lovely welcome. We will definitely recommend to our friends.

Bridle Cottage is a comfortable and attractive stone cottage on three floors. It is conveniently located down a back street in the middle of Settle, just a few yards off the market square, meaning that all of the shops/amenities which Settle has to offer are within very easy reach. The house itself is surprisingly spacious, especially for the money, and includes an upstairs study (perfect for writing postcards in peace). The kitchen is rather small, but contains everything which is essential to holiday catering, including things which are sometimes overlooked, such a as cafetiere. The front room contains a log-burning stove, which is easy to use and earns the property its tick in the 'romantic getaway' box. One limitation is that the front room is rather overlooked by passing pedestrians, which means that you have to choose between privacy and having the curtains closed whilst you are in during the daytime. Also, the plastic windows don't particularly suit the traditional stone construction of the house and give a certain cheapness to a house which otherwise verges on the luxurious. Our holiday was done by train, so I can't vouch for the parking arrangements.

We travelled again to Settle, this time with my wife's parents. And the only drawback is I wished we would have booked a longer stay. Settle as always was wonderful and more than met with my in-laws expectations.

Quiet and cosy cottage perfectly situated down a lane off the bustling High Street and Market Square. So convenient for the excellent bakers, Booths supermarket, pubs and cafes. Settle has wonderful hill and river walks in all directions and it was a pleasure to come back to the warm and well-appointed cottage at the end of a busy day.

So here goes. We loved the place. Settle is our one place to go in England. We have traveled around the country and it is marvelous. But nothing beats returning to Settle for the rest and relaxation. We again spent only one week there and afterwards asked ourselves why we keep doing that. During the week we say a live play, a jazz night an evening of folk music, and explored the area. Bridle cottage has everything and extras just in case. Out the front door and one hundred, +/-, you are in the village, although you would not know it from the inside of the cottage which is so quiet and comfortable. And when we were traveling back through the town later we walked by the cottage and there was work being down to upgrade the fireplace, (not sure why). A bit of advice for car owners, pay for park and pay immediately as the meter maid is always close at hand, my mistake. And next time I am there I will phone ahead with my order for more sunshine.

Settle is a lovely place and the cottage was in a good central location. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and easily accessed by train or bus. We'd brought our dog and there were plenty of places to walk with him, and we used public transport with him quite easily.

The cottage was well catered with all the items you would require for a long weekend. The only draw back for us was the fact that there were no doors therefore it was difficult to contain the dog although she thought the fire was put there for her only. It was fortunate that we had her cage to constrain her during the night. The cottage was superbly positioned that although right in the center of town and yet so quiet at night access to wonderful walks straight from the doorstep. It is definitely a place I would return to.

We stayed for a week in Settle. We enjoy walking and this location is central to some great walks, especially the 3 peaks. The cottage is lovely and a minutes walk from the centre of the town. There are some lovely places to eat and both Booths and the railway station are close by, as is a large car-park. The cottage was spotless, well equipped and comfortable, with the owner obviously having a lovely sense of style.
