Holiday home
Beningborough is a lovely detached cottage in Middleham. With four en-suite zip/link double bedrooms, and two single sofa beds, it sleeps ten people comfortably. The cottage also offers a first floor kitchen with dining area and comfy seating, a summer room, a first floor sitting room with woodburner, ground floor sitting room and a utility. Outside, there is a lovely garden and ample off road parking. Beningborough is a wonderful base for a family getaway in the Dales.

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London.

Beautiful barn conversion in the village of Middleham, a short walk from the castle, pubs and village shop.. It was perfect for our family get together and slept 10 comfortably. We went for walks in the Dales every day, which were outstanding and also found plenty of places for wild swimming. Will definitely be going back!

The pictures on the website do not do this house justice.. All equipment provided in the kitchen which made for an easy stay for eight people. Fantastic location with incredible views. Middleham is a great location and the house is minutes from the main square with the constant stream of racehorses as well as really good pubs. Very helpful owners all added to the positive experience.

Beninborough Cottage is in a quiet corner of a delightful village, Middleham, which is nonetheless well served with pubs, restaurants and an excellent all purpose shop/newsagent and off-licence.. For a party of six with ages ranging from 9 to 77, it proved to be an excellent base for a holiday; easy access to the Lightwater Valley and the Forbidden Corner, pleasant and easy pottering opportunities for the older members, not to mention Middleham Castle [childhood home of Richard III] in the village itself, Jervaulx Abbey a few miles away, and excellent shopping in Leyburn. The cottage itself has a stunning view across the dales and is far enough from the roads to be utterly peaceful. Watch out, too, for the grey squirrels in the garden. The cottage is a splendid facility; four large and comfortable bedrooms, all ensuite, all with tv sets, a very large lounge with a marvellous picture window, a dining area with the same view, and another lounge area in the very well-equipped kitchen. The induction hob on the oven was a novelty, but the instructions got us past that potential difficulty; and there is a laundry room with a freezer on the ground floor. It is simply not possible to fault the facilities on any score. More than that, the proprietors, Hilary and Roger, were very helpful and kind. Hilary waited in for us for over an hour when we got lost on the way there; we needed a blender for use in the kitchen and they loaned us one, and they were understanding about an accidental breakage as well. We take cottage holidays because they suit our circumstances, in particular the widely differing needs of a very extended family. Beninborough Cottage met those needs perfectly and we had a wonderful time. Christopher [aged 9} says: "I thought it was a lovely cottage, and I would love to stay there for years."

Great views from a lovely cottage.. We had a fabulous holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this cottage. There is lots to do in the area and a warm cottage to go back to, that had plenty of room. The only downside was the drive being quite narrow with quite a hump to go over at the start, but a slow drive at the right angle was all that was necessary.

Beningborough was extremely well equipped and comfortable.. Just a few minutes from the centre of the village and ideal for touring the Dales. The owners were very helpful in giving us places to visit and eat. Our party of 8 adults really enjoyed the week we stayed there.

I really liked the search facility at Sykes which allowed me to use a filter for pet free holiday homes; a lot of companies only allow you to filter for pet friendly homes.. Communication with Sykes was also good. The property we stayed in was excellent. It is, as described, an outstanding barn conversion on the edge of the pretty village of Middleham, with beautiful views of the Yorkshire Dales. The location was perfect for walking in the dales. The village has a good village store and good pubs, as well as the attractive castle ruins. The house was clean, modern and spacious and the owners, next door, were friendly and welcoming. Our three teenage children loved having their own double beds and en-suite bathrooms and were pleased we had wifi. We highly recommend the holiday house.

The setting and views are wonderful.. The local Richard III pub has excellent food and take away as well. The village is lovely and seeing the horses going out each day is an added attraction.

Even though in the centre of Middleham it feels as if you are out in the countryside.. The views are spectacular and the owners could not have been more helpful. If you are up early in the morning you can see the racehorses going off for training. negative and that is that there is only one frying pan at the property.nly oneO

We were really pleasantly surprised at how gorgeous this house was as the photos don't do it justice. This is an excellent property with a quirky layout, good sized bedrooms all having modern ensuites. The house is well equipped and has everything you could think of particularly in the kitchen. We loved sitting in the conservatory watching the lambs and enjoying the scenery. The village has 4 pubs that serve excellent food and drink as well as a well stocked village shop. Mr and Mrs Murray were excellent hosts, friendly and helpful to us. A wonderful week thank you!

The property was ideal for our party of 6 adults and 3 very excited children for our Christmas break. The photographs on Sykes website do not do this property any justice. The owners Mr and Mrs Murray were more than helpful and made sure the house was fully equipped for all our needs. Thank you. There is so much room in the property, massive kitchen, dining area and huge lounge, plus with the quieter den downstairs there was enough room for everyone even the three very giddy children. All in all a very comfortable stay and highly recommended.

Stayed in this wonderful property last week with three other couples and could not fault it. Every conceivable appliance supplied and the accommodation is outstanding. The walks from your door are breathtaking especially if you make the effort to get up onto the Peaks overlooking the town. From start to finish, our stay at this beautifully-renovated and spacious 4 bedroomed cottage was perfect. We chose this house after extensive research, hoping to find somewhere that would enable us to meet up in comfort with various family members and share our love of the Dales. The house exceeded our expectations in virtually every department, and we will certainly return in the future. The owners live close by, and were friendly and attentive throughout our stay, giving our children an open invitation to wander the adjacent fields amongst the young lambs and sheep, which they loved. All of our questions and additional small needs were dealt with instantly, and by the end of the week we felt like a part of the local community! All bedrooms are fitted to a 5 star standard, with abundant linen and towels. Each bedroom has its own en-suite facilities. Two additional sofa beds are provided in the downstairs sitting room, though it is, however, worth noting that there is no additional bathroom, so any extra guests have to make use of the facilities in one of the bedrooms. This wasn't a big issue for us during our stay. We were fortunate that the weather was extremely kind for 6 of the 7 days days we were there, so the excellent sitting rooms were supplemented by extensive use of the gardens surrounding the property. Good quality and sufficient garden furniture is supplied, and the grassed area is large enough for all manner of games and relaxation. But the best thing of all is the view across the mouth of Wensleydale, encompassing nearby Leyburn, and other small villages, with a backdrop of green hills and trees. Perfect for relaxing over a glass or two at the end of the day! We tried all four pubs in the local village of Middleham, including meals at our two favourites, the Black Bull and White Swan. With the local chip shop and Chinese takeaway, there isn't much reason to use the excellent kitchen for anything more than snacks and drinks. All in all, a wonderful find, and thoroughly recommended for groups and families with children.

The property is furnished to a very high standard and has outstanding views over the surrounding countryside. The owners are very friendly and live nearby, so any problems can be raised with them quickly, although we did not have any. Only a few minutes walk to the three local pubs, all of which also serve food. For walkers there are footpaths available from Middleham and many more within a short drive. An excellent house in a good location.

House was absolutely fantastic, better than described on web site 4 excellent sized bedrooms all with on suites plus downstairs room with 2 single sofa beds were available if needed Social areas all good sized and it was nice to have 2 areas where people could watch different things on TV Dining room and upstairs lounge have full height windows which makes the most of the wonderful views We had many birds visiting including a pair of pheasants and it was a joy to watch the lambs with their mothers in the field next door It was certainly a great choice and would recommend families as there is lots to do in the surrounding area If we visit this area again with a large group we would certainly stay at Beningborough again
