York is a city synonymous with history, and this charming Grade II-listed flat contains oodles of heritage. It was the birthplace of businessman Joesph Rowntree and sits opposite Shambles Market – if shopping, sightseeing and museum-hopping are on your to-do list, you'll be more than happy here. All the famous spots are within walking distance – including York Minster, eight minutes away – and traditional pubs, independent coffee shops and eclectic eateries aplenty are mere moments from your doorstep. After a busy afternoon exploring, come home and unwind on the squishy sofa with a glass of wine, or, if you fancy a homecooked meal, whip up something delicious in the sleek kitchen to share around the table. We love the characterful, cosy feel inside, especially the antique stove and the collection of artefacts and portraits reminding guests of the home's past. But there are modern conveniences here, too – board games for rainy days, Netflix for movie nights and a rainfall shower in the bathroom that feels like heaven after a long day out and about.
