Holiday home
The Piggery is a detached stone and pantile cottage in the small village of Ugglebarnby, just one mile from Sleights in the North York Moors National Park. The cottage sleeps four people and has two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The cottage also contains a fitted kitchen and a sitting room with a dining area. Outside the cottage is off road parking for three cars and a lawned garden and patio with outdoor furniture. Set in the National Park, yet just four miles from the coast, The Piggery is a superb holiday cottage in a wonderful location. Please note: this property has a changeover of Friday only

Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x 4 ft double (restricted head room to one side of bed). Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Fitted kitchen. Sitting room with dining area.

The village of Sleights is perfect for both coastal and countryside holidays. It is on the edge of dramatic moors and close to the beautiful Yorkshire coastline.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

The piggery is a luxurious charming cottage in a lovely picturesque location with great views and peace and quiet.. Plenty to do around Whitby, including a beautiful waterfall "Falling Foss" and tea room only 2 miles south of the cottage. North York Moors Railway Steam Gala was a great day out.

‘The Piggery’ , set in beautiful Yorkshire scenery , even on a rainy day.. Fully equipped cottage, warm and cosy. Welcome package on arrival. Fresh free range eggs! There are no bad points about this cottage, peace and quiet, breath taking views. Wished all holiday cottages were set out this way 5 stars all the way !

This property is only suitable for 3 adults or 2 adults and one child.. It is 4 miles from Whitby and in the back of beyond which is not for everybody and bear in mind there are 4 substantial up/down roads to get here. Personally I think the location/ facilities are second to none.

This cottage was absolute perfection, very clean and the amount of extras were amazing.. Mrs Wilson had not only filled a welcome basket with free range eggs, tea, coffee and cakes but also left 2 vases of fresh flowers and all sorts of lovely extras like tooth brushes, shower buffer and mouth wash plus every type of cleaning product you could wish for in the kitchen and lounge. Very good kitchen utensils and a range of pots and pans, we couldn't get to grips with the washing machine however. We especially loved sitting on the patio with a glass of wine/tea/coffee/cider and admired a stunning scenery, it was very helpful that Sykes had arranged brilliant weather for our stay!!! The only drawback was that it was a way out of the village for walking to the local pub and shops, very steep hills. We were able to get about via the local taxi service when we didn't want to drive ourselves. The local butchers was a gold mine and we came home with a freezer box full of beautiful meat locally sourced, absolutely wonderful selection. We visited Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Floss Falls and a few local villages and their facilities, our first time in the North Yorkshire area we are certain to return to The Piggery and explore further, all in all a wonderful holiday, thank you.

This was our fourth visit to the Piggery in four years.. It is a beautifully appointed and comfortable cottage with everything being of the highest quality.It is ideally located and is set in very attractive and secluded surroundings.Margaret,the owner,is very genuine,friendly and attentive with her excellent welcome pack always being so appreciated.It is such a home from home that it's such a wrench to leave when the holiday is over! A beautiful cottage, it has been decorated and equipped to a high standard and the attention to detail is obvious. It is very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights here. Our toddler also loved it and there were plenty of toys provided that kept her amused while we were indoors. Small welcoming touches by the owner were appreciated. Only wish we could have stayed longer and look forward to returning in the summer.

Absolutely love this cottage, it has everything you could want, nothing was left out. It is in a fabulous location on top of a hill so sitting on the patio watching the sunset is an absolute pleasure. Excellent accommodation with everything you need whether you use it as a base to explore the North Yorkshire coast or just to relax. The owners always make you feel very welcome and ensure that everything is there to make your stay something that you will always remember. If you have forgotten anything even a toothbrush you can bet there will be one there for you. We have stayed here many times and will return again and again. In the village of Sleights you have a Botham's bakery which sells a large array of excellent cakes cookies and bread. There is also a butchers, a grocery store and a fish and chip shop. Hope to return early next year.

The cottage felt and looked comfortable right from the time we arrived. The furnishings and décor were tasteful, and the facilities excellent. In all we had an excellent weeks holiday; the weather was mixed but we did have some sunny days.
