Although the location of the house is good, we were disappointed that the interior was not as stated in the description.. The beds are not double, they are 3/4 size and only 2 of the bedrooms had wardrobes, with only 3 coat hangers between them. The bedding and bed linen is basic and the curtains in all rooms are thin and flimsy, some were hanging off the curtain poles. The twin room is very cold especially at night because the radiator in there did not work. The WiFi connection is very poor. The living room is very basic and had a smell of dogs, especially if the doors are shut. We are a family of 6 adults and we stayed for 4 nights yet each bathroom had only one toilet roll ! Overall, We did enjoy our break, however this property needs a lot of TLC in order for it to match the description given.

I noticed in a previous comment about this property, the lack of serving spoons, which became apparent when I tried to serve a cottage pie which I’d maybe for the first evening.. Apparently the owner doesn’t take any notice of the comments as a large serving spoon is hardly expensive and would make life easier. You should know that the directions to the property are now wrong as Caedmon school has just been re named as Whitby Sixth Form College! We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and it is an easy 10 minute walk into Whitby but the walk back is very steep! The photograph of the cottage must be very old as there are borders in the garden now with mature shrubs which do make it dark and also make the lounge dark too.

This cottage is in a brilliant location for walking into Whitby and to other villages round about plus 2 parks.. We had been advised that some things had been removed from the cottage due to COVID-19 restrictions and took what we would need with us. We had everything we needed in the kitchen except a bottle opener. Supermarket nearby. On arrival we had no internet access, we reported this and got a very quick response, however it remained poor and was often not available. We were a group of 4 adults, 6 year old and toddler and would use this property again.

This is the second time we have visited this property and it was like coming home.. The property was clean and well equipped even with the coronavirus restrictions We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay which is large enough to accommodate our family with two children and a dog to keep safe and entertain

The house was convenient and pleasant.. We paid a lot for three nights and we think the leave time of ten was too early. We had to get up sooner and clear up and then have a long journey. We think eleven would be a kinder hour to leave by.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed in one of the cottages on this site (my daughter booked the other two), we really like both the FarmHouse and the Old Barn.. Sadly we won't be coming back next year as both properties are already booked for the week we want.

September 2019
The location of the farmhouse is absolutely brilliant, just a few minutes walk into the harbour.. Along side the farmhouse is the cinder path which is such a fabulous convenient walk for the dogs. The farmhouse itself is huge, and the bedrooms are all of a good size, 2 en-suite and a family bathroom to serve the others. The garden to the farmhouse is a little tired, the patio needs a very good sweep to stop dirty paws and the leaves need a good rake and the fence needs a bit of renovation. The kitchen is a great size, a big table and all the required white goods and bits and bobs, warm and welcoming. The house itself needs a bit of tlc, a freshen up here and there with carpet and paint. That said overall it does not deter from a warm and welcoming stay. We loved it, and would recommend this property to others without hesitation. Thank you

Had a great time and will return.. Great location. Easily catered for a party of 7 adults. A few things could be improved though so am giving some constructive feedback: Grass needed cutting and we could not see where the dogs had been. Dishwasher in the kitchen does not work so needs moving or at least cleaning - other dishwasher is fine. Double beds would be more comfortable if they were king size TV could be better- maybe free view with catch up TV? A new cooker would be good as the one in the kitchen is dated and takes ages to heat up. Will still return in the future as this is a very cosy and comfortable cottage. Sue

Yes did you find a black fit bit watch charger in the 2nd bedroom with en suite it could have fallen on the floor I slept on the side by the window and plugged it in there by the bedside cabinet otherwise fantastic holiday would go back there again.. Could do with small TV in the en suite bedrooms.

Three generations stayed in this property over Christmas. On arrival we noticed all the decorations - 2 trees- with lights. There was plenty of room to store food and a there was a welcome tray of mince pies and a treat for the dog. The bedrooms were adequate and the whole property was clean and warm. We used cars to travel into Whitby because of the ages in the party and parking charges are removed during winter.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Airy Hill old farmhouse.. The farmhouse was warm and cosy, with a wood burning stove in the lounge and one in the kitchen. There were fresh flowers on the kitchen table and a pint of fresh milk in the fridge and Bonios for the dogs when we arrived, which was a nice touch. Whitby is the perfect base for exploring The North Yorkshire Coast and Moors. We would love to go back to go back and stay at Airy Hill Old Farmhouse again one day.

August 2018
We had a wonderful week with all the family.. There were 6 adults, 2 children and 2 babies. The cottage was large enough to accommodate us all. The kitchen was a real hub for the family, large enough to seat us all comfortably for meals. The bedrooms are a good size and great to have 2 on suite. Essential for grandad and grandma! We could walk into Whitby and the walks behind the cottage were safe and enjoyable for the children. We would definitely book the cottage again.
Mrs Robinson

No wardrobes in main bedrooms just coathangers and coat stand we dont class as sufficient for what we paid.. Saying that we had a nice stay the cottage was very clean however we didnt expect it to be in school grounds. This was advertised as Note: Cottage next to a secondary school and caravan park, some traffic noise can be heard at around 8.45am and 3.40pm during the week.... this did not state it was in school grounds

The cottage was amazing.. Very clean and lots of room. The location was perfect. No need to drive anywhere as it was just a short walk to Whitby. You could see the Abbey from the bedroom windows which was lovely. Ideal for a dog as the garden was enclosed and a nice size. Lots of walks you can go on just on the doorstep. Will definitely be coming back again.

November 2017
Airey hill was perfect for a group of 8 adults.. It was clean and comfortable and provided èverything we needed. The only issue was due to it being an old property the stairs are steep and one of our party needed help with the stairs. It didnt spoil our stay just need to make people aware if they have mobility problems. We would have no problem staying here again. The area around the house is quiet even when school pick up/drop off we didnt notice it. Lots of lovely walks and easy access into town for the more able. Short drive for others. Overall a lovely house and relaxing stay.

The cottage was perfect, great accommodation for 6 adults and 2 toddlers.. An easy 15 minute walk to the centre of Whitby and handy for other locations too. Very quiet (school holidays). Being dog friendly was a bonus. We hope to return.

Stayed in the farmhouse with family of three other couples and two infants plus two dogs . The house was excellent in every way , downstairs kitchen and lounge very large so ideal for all ten of us , and all bedrooms a good size . The property was very clean and well stocked with crockery etc . Had really good weather during our stay so made use of the garden to chill in an evening , safe for grandchildren . The walk into Whitby took ten to fifteen minutes dependent on how fast you walk . Was an ideal base for our day trips out to other pretty villages . Would return again with no hesitation .

We are a large family who travel the country following our football team. This weekend it was Middlesbrough, but we decided it would be nice to stay in Whitby. The property is within walking distance of the town centre, but a cab is less than £5. Our stay was only two nights, but everyone found the house to be perfect (I won't go into detail, as others already have). It was freezing outside, but the whole house was lovely & warm, the wood burners made for a warm wintery feel. Whether you sit in the large lounge or kitchen diner, the place accommodates everyone. A special mention on how clean the house was too.

The farmhouse suited two families as the bedrooms were large and overall there were 3 bathrooms! We felt the garden was a little small for the children, but there is a large field to the rear. We had an excellent time! Thanks.

A great space for our large family plus dog! I especially liked the 2 en suites and large bathroom. The kitchen was a great focal point for holiday breakfasts and the lounge was very comfortable on an evening. The heating was very good for a large house also, we were never cold. Would definitely come back.

Extremely spacious, excellent 4 rooms with 2 ensuites, a great location being only a short walk from the shops and restaurants, and a beautiful kitchen/dining which was perfect for our Christmas Dinner. Our little Scotty dog enjoyed it too. Highly recommended.

Recently stayed at the farmhouse with three other couples celebrating a birthday in Whitby ..the farmhouse is set in a small complex of other similar accommodation the front bedroom has views of the Abbey which on a clear day can be seen spectacularly perched in the distance ..the back of the property overlooks fields ...it has two log burning stoves each with a starter pack you walk through the front door and immediately say WOW this property is large and very comfortable with huge comfy reclining sofas ... and a huge settle although the batteries didn't work in the TV ...the kitchen is fabulous with a,huge farmhouse table which we sat round to have breakfast and for a card game evening...everything is provided in the kitchen even tea towels.... downstairs loo very handy !!! Access for a wheelchair user is great to get to the property and into the kitchen but then there are stirs so maybe a little difficult ... the stairs are a little steep but lead up to 4 bedrooms 3 doubles, and a twin... two of the doubles are sumptuously decorated with amazing luxurious ensuites all towels, loo rolls provided ... but disappointed with the other two bedrooms which were very bland not as much luxury and shared the bathroom the twin bedroom was, also cold !! Suggestions would be to make them look & feel as if they have not been forgotten ..the Bathroom is fabulous with a large bath and shower and also separate hair washing shower very, very handy .... the property was freezing cold and we spent all evening with no heating on even the log burning stoves didn't heat the whole property so we spent all night fully clothed in bed ..it said in the catalogues at the farmhouse we could only contact people in office hours ... we rang.Sykes cottages and a receptionist said there was nothing they could do until the office opened later .. we were furious !!! We eventually waited until 8 am and contacted the owners who were amazing came over straight away sent her son over who put us the heating on and gave us extra quilts, and more logs and fire lighters , how it should have been handled .... Sykes the company just didn't care ... although the Farmhouse is wonderful be aware your next to a school and on the Sunday morning traffic was parking and lots of noise from families on a running track at the back of the house !!! It's off a busy main road and the walk down and up to and from Whitby is not recommend for people with mobility problems parks Tec as the hill is very very steep , but taxi are, around and it cost us £5 for a taxi from the railway station to the farmhouse ...
