The property is in a huge need of tlc. There was wallpaper coming off the walls, whenever showers were used there was strong smell of sewage throughout the house! Showers were either boiling hot or freezing. The oven smoked so bad when used it caused fire alarms to go off, when we arrived a tv fell off the wall in one of the bedrooms, a fan was broken, sweeping brush snapped. The extractor fan doesn't work above oven, the garden needed a good tidy as rubbish stored down side, no key for bin to get rid of rubbish, slugs in kitchen, the wash line fell out the wall so couldn't use. Hottub was dirty. On the day of leaving the property our 18 month old got stuck in the room near the kitchen as door was stuck and door handle snapped, had to get them through the patio doors. We paid nearly 3000 pound for this property and was so disappointed! Would not recommend!!!

What an awful experience ! We arrived at Senna Rocks as a group of 17 - (5 adults & 12 children). The house smelt musty as we walked in - as we walked around & checked the rooms, the furniture was dusty, broken & very dated - it was like going back 30 years. The showers were very temperamental - giving freezing or scorching hot water, and the shower hoses were broken & leaking in most en-suites - not to mention the disgusting STENCH from the drains coming through into bedrooms. There were 2 fridges in the kitchen - 1 was NOT working & all our freshly bought food went OFF. Infact the fridge-freezer was actually mouldy & full of water that had defrosted when we had opened it - I actually scrubbed it all clean before putting our food in it, then found it didn’t even work or get cold. The utensils in kitchen were VERY OLD, couldn’t even get the tin opener to work on any of tins we had bought with us as it was so blunt. The oven was smoking the kitchen out, as it was so dirty & had not been cleaned. There was a drinks fridge which wasn’t getting cold & clearly needed replacing. The cooker hood (extractor) wasn’t working either. The 2 hoovers that were there were clogged up with hair/dust, and the floor brush had no handle. The kitchen cupboards were also dirty. In most of the rooms - the curtains were literally falling down in most rooms due to lack of hooks in them - windows were filthy. The wallpaper/paint was very very dated - ripped/chipped all over the house - it made the house feel very depressing. THE WHOLE HOUSE NEEDS A TOTAL REVAMP. The electrics kept tripping leaving us in complete darkness - thankfully there were a few emergency lights - no details for where the fuseboard was situated, we spent ages searching the house to find it. The hot-tub was average - it didn’t hold a steady temperature which was dissapointing. Also the small backyard was a disgrace to be honest, completely neglected & shabby with barely anywhere to sit as it was so small. We found HUGE SLUGS every evening on kitchen floor - absolutely gross. All these issues were reported daily & the maintenance guy came out several times & was extremely helpful. A new fridge was delivered the day before left by which time it was actually of no use to us. He noted all the issues. We made videos & took photos of ALL the issues. Too many health & safety issues within the property - will be reporting to trading standards. We paid approximately £2700 to rent this place & what a disappointment it was. WOULD NEVER BOOK THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE - STEER CLEAR!!!!! However Scarborough itself was beautiful, lovely beach.

The property is beautiful, large and close to town. Could do with a lick of paint in areas and some repairs to some doors and cupboards. Sykes do not mention in their advertising that this property has locks on every door. The locks in use require a key and lock once closed. They can then only be opened with a key. They are like front door locks. I stayed at this property with young children. If I had have known this about the doors I would not have booked due to the risk of them getting locked in a room and unable to get out. All the rooms should have spare keys incase of loss or lock in. They do not. On my stay one of the bedroom doors shut behind my brother and locked and the key was inside the room. There was no spare for that room. Maintenance was called as all his things were in the room and obviously he needed these and also a bed for the night. Maintenance do not have spare keys or a master key! This is a safety issue. I only thank god that my 6 year old wasn’t in there because we had to then wait for a locksmith. When the locksmith arrived he used a card to open the door causing no damage and the same lock worked fine afterwards. This was inconvenient to have to wait for a locksmith but we were glad to have access and my brother able to get his possessions. I left a review on Sykes saying this issue was resolved and providing locks were removed I would stay again. However, after leaving this review £115 was taken from my bank for a ‘new lock’ and call out charge. I am now trying to claim this money back via Sykes but am not able to speak to anyone directly and have to wait for replies to messages. This is not my error and lockouts have happened to people before. Why have locks not been removed, this is a safety issue and I should not be charged for the property only owning one key for a bedroom that is used frequently for children. I will not be staying again. And I would not recommended.

Firstly we left a good review as the place is great for a large group of people. However some of us had to use other rooms showers as they were not heating up properly. Hot tub was so hot that we could not get in it until we topped it up with a bit of cold and left the top off as you cannot turn it down on the control. Radiators in some rooms were not heating up properly. Some of the towels provided were not 'fresh' and were obviously old being grey and hard, smelling musty rather than white and soft smelling fresh. The cooker grill was not clean and did not heat up in all sections which when cooking 15 breakfasts was a pain. The water was not hot enough or enough of it to use the bath. The fridge smelled and needed to be cleaned out before we would put anything in it. All of this we would have put up with had we not been landed with a payment of £115 from our bank paying for a locksmith who had to come out because the one bedroom that had no spare key had the door shut with the only key left inside, All doors have locks and they shut and lock as soon as the door closes automatically. No need for these types of locks on all internal bedrooms. All in all we would not return and as we have no chance of getting our £115 back and understandably are feeling very angry.
