Really enjoyable week.. Perriwinkle was really comfortable and we felt at home right away.

The property was full of potential and yet it missed the mark completely.. Covid-19 was a golden opportunity to showcase what you have to a new market - folks who always holiday abroad. This was the chance to suggest that perhaps a UK holiday can be just as good and no effort was made to seize that chance. The en-suite bathroom showed how little care and thought had been put into this place. There was no hot water in the shower, the lock on the door was broken, there was no shelf in the shower so if you were prepared to have a cold one, there was nowhere to rest your soap or shampoo. There was a charging point for razors and toothbrushes but no shelf on which to rest a razor or toothbrush (or soap, or deodorant, or shaving gel or anything else one might put in a bathroom). There was no toilet roll holder and (seriously) the toilet was in the wrong place. Whoever designed the bathroom failed to take into account that the towel rail would protrude from the wall and so the positioning of the toilet needed to be from the edge of the towel rail rather than from the wall. The result is that you practically sit on the towel rail to use the toilet. A hook on the bathroom door would also have been very welcome. The main bathroom was much better but still no toilet roll holder and a hook on the door for bathrobes would be good. The double bed was the worst part. A cheap mattress on a cheap frame which basically dared you to try to sleep. We took on the challenge and lost. You can get away with a short size double if and only if there is no bar at the foot of the bed. This means that your feet can dangle over the end. If you put metal bars on the end then that size of bed will really only work for people who are in no way tall. The frames of the bunk beds were cheap too. Everything was squeaky and if anyone in any bed turned in the night, anyone sharing the room would know about it. The resort itself is another seriously missed opportunity. Aside from the pharmacy, there isn’t a single shop onsite. You need a car to buy so much as a pint of milk or a loaf of bread. The fridge isn’t big enough to take a week’s shopping so the net result is that you drive to town each day to buy basic essentials. There is nowhere to buy a bucket and spade or a postcard, you can’t even buy an ice cream on the beach. It really feels as if there is an aversion to making money here. I arrived with plenty of cash and a willingness to spend it and the overwhelming impression I received was “having fleeced you something chronic with the quality of the apartment, we couldn’t possibly give you anything else to spend money on.” The one exception to this was a rather ropey tennis court which (I kid thee not) cost £10 per hour! You don’t pay that much for a decent court never mind a ropey one. Then they had lines of people waiting to go into the swimming pool actually on the court while you are playing. If two adults who know how to hit the ball were playing, someone could have been seriously hurt. I would (genuinely) not return if you paid me. After a week without sleep, I’m just glad to be home.

The accommodation is in serious need of some TLC.. Very disappointed to find the (leather) sofas coming apart and unable to sit on, had to purchase throws to be able to sit down. Nearly all blinds broken/twisted/without parts. Bedlinen old and clearly been used lots although at least clean. Main bathroom sink blocked. En-suite shower only has cold water. Rang office and contacted number of property owner and neither willing to help. So just got on with holiday best we could. BUT very disappointed, have spent 7 summer holidays at The Bay and this was THE ONLU accommodation we’ve ever had issues with. Would definitely NOT recommend your company as customer service was terrible. Very unhappy holiday maker

Excellent location for East Coast activities.. Good pool and some entertainment provided for children, even at Easter. Poor WiFi and mobile reception in this area.

Sofas shabby and most of the blinds broken.. Could do with some home comforts ie coat hooks in hall way and on back of bathroom doors. Holders in shower cubicle for shampoo etc. Tourist info would have been a nice touch along with some games and dvd’s and a tv instruction manual. The kitchen was well equipped but we didn’t find the apartment cozy enough.

Spotlessly clean cottage on a fantastic development.. En suite shower was a surprise bonus! Great to have the little shop/pharmacy and pub on site. Struggled slightly with the bed as I'm really tall and it was quite short but really a tiny issue on an otherwise great break. Make sure to go to reception for a pool pass and a timetable of activities.

Just returned from a weeks stay with my 11,yr old grandson. The apartment was spotlessly clean, had everything you could possibly need for a wonderful holiday. Loved my room with the en suite and Finn fell in love with his bathroom, never known him to take so many showers!! He also loved hus bunk beds and fab flat screen TV in the living room. The kitchen was amazing everything very modern, even had a washer dryer, first time I've returned from a holiday with no dirty washing!! We used the site pool and also had lunch in the pub. The Bay us well situated for sightseeing. We visited Scarborough, Bridlington and Flamingo Land. Weather could have been better but never kept us in. Would highly recommend this lively apartment and would definitely return. Already have a friend interested!!!

Booked this from Tuesday to Saturday after the August bank holiday through Sykes Cottages, and unfortunately things didn't get off to a good start! Arrived to find that the apartment hadn't been cleaned or bedding changed from the previous occupants, and when I contacted the owner he said that he didn't do short breaks and couldn't understand why I had booked for 4 nights - turns out Sykes has started offering short breaks unbeknown to him. To be fair, a cleaner arrived very quickly so we made ourselves scarce to the private beach which was superb - short walk from the apartment to soft sand and clear water. The apartment itself was fine, sizeable with plenty of household provisions, although the double bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable - time for an upgrade! En-suite to this room though and the showers were very good - kids' bunk beds also spot on. Was surprised there was virtually no information about the site (The Bay) - possibly because this accommodation is independently owned? - or the surrounding area, save for a couple of takeaway menus - a bit more effort on this score would go a long way. Would definitely stay at The Bay again but would book through The Bay rather than Sykes to avoid cleaning mix-ups and perhaps guarantee some little extra touches.

Just returned from a week in The Periwinkle, booked through Sykes Cottages. Owner David provided fantastic service. The cottage is perfect for a family of 4. Our kids aged 10 & 5 loved their bunks. All the beds were lovely and comfy, we slept really well all week. Kitchen is well equipped and the living area is spacious with great TV/DVD for rainy afternoons. Good size family bathroom, clean and new and great having a little ensuite in master bedroom. The Bay is a lovely setting, with nice cosy pub. Beach is 10mins walk and if we'd had better weather we'd be there everyday. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend this as a great base to explore the gorgeous East coast of Yorkshire

I have been to a lot of property over the years through Sykes and this is by far the best ever.. We have never been to this area before, but after the fantastic week we have had, we are already wanting to go back next year two or three times. Thank you for finding this paradise for us.

Stayed here for 7 nts with two children age 9 and 4. Lovely spacious and clean apartment. Well equipped kitchen including cleaning materials, bin bags, washer/drier and iron and board. Two good showers and big TV and DVD player. Location was great and easily accessible. Key arrangements were great and as promised. (Only gripe is a new door handle/lock is needed and perhaps new double bed.) No wi-Fi or Internet signal but not necessarily a bad thing! Good site but quiet and not a lot on outwith English school holidays but that was fine with us. On site pub was good but would recommend booking. These beach was amazing but very steep hill down/up. We managed but would be hard with a buggy or wheelchair. I heard they have a kart service up and down their hill on request. Loads to do round about and perfect site for Scarborough, Bridlington, Flamingoland. Great farm for kids called Playdale farm a short drive away. Filey beach a must. Would return to this apartment.

Beds were too low with lumpy mattreses and the 'adult bunk bed' was inaccesible to all but small children. Otherwise a nice appartment in a lovely development. Location was good for visiting local area but the '3 minute walk to the beach' is only for the fit and nimble - it is VERY steep and the path has broken away at the bottom so you have to jump/scramble over rocks and pebbles to get onto the beach.

Received the keys through the post which i find strange arriving at the property their was no one their to greet you no instructions for appliances only in foreign languages being the equipment is all foreign i.e. washer machine, dryer, cooker, microwave. One first night found all plugs in bathroom and en-suite was broken which means you have to use a knife to get the plug out found parts missing on taps, washer machine was faulty could not be used stated their was dryer but this was not working. Some of the kitchen utensils was broken i.e. bottle opener had to go and buy one, lack of cupboard space for food had to store on winder ledge, bed in, main bedroom was very low strugle to get on and off, matress in single room springs broken very uncomfortable to sleep on. Dont try getting in contact with the owner cause the wont reply, no contact details in case of emergency. When you do get in contact with the owner he is very rude and none apliant. Overall would never stay here again.
