Perched above the tiny village of Rosedale Abbey, this former vicarage has beautiful views of the rolling Yorkshire countryside. There’s a local shop, tea room, pub and café within walking distance, but it’s all about rambles into the countryside here. Despite the historic building, the interior is stylish and modern with three separate lounges to spread out across – a sunny orangery extension, and two formal living rooms with working fireplaces. Bedrooms are cosy spots for sound sleep, but it’s the barbecue deck outside that takes the cake with a panoramic view of the valley and hills.

Home truths

While there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, there are a few steps between the ground-floor reception rooms, so this place may not suit those with very limited mobility.

Two of the bedrooms have zip-and-link beds, so let your host know if you would prefer them arranged as twin rooms or king-sized rooms.

Your host can provide cots, high chairs and stair gates for infants on request.

There is a steep gravel driveway up to this home.

In a fairly remote location, having a car is recommended. There is ample private parking and an EV charging point to be booked prior to arrival.

About The North York Moors

Stretching from the coast at Whitby to the Howardian hills inland, the North York Moors National Park covers a huge swathe of the north’s wild countryside. Ancient and awesome (in the old sense of the word), the wind-beaten moorlands have inspired gothic novels and romantic epics for centuries. Traversing the landscape on foot, you can easily picture Heathcliffe and Cathy haunting the hinterland. Or take the more sedate option and...
