Another wonderful conservational must-see is the North Yorkshire Moors National Park itself, consisting of miles of stunning and unspoilt countryside. Tourists will love a taste of royalty by visiting Pickering Castle. The castle was built in Motte and Bailey style during the 13th and 14th centuries and later fortified in stone.

The cottage was spacious and had all the facilities we wanted.. The beds and seating were very comfortable. It was good to be able to park right in front of the cottage. The Wifi couldn't really cope with 3 people on their laptops / iPads at the same time but that wasn't a major problem for us. I never found out how to open the bathroom window. We were very happy with our stay here.

Westgate Cottage is in a peaceful setting, clean comfortable and cosy.. Sarah and Chris are very welcoming and full of any advice you need to know about the area, and good places to visit. Incidentally the cottage is in an ideal area to visit many places without travelling too far. We arrived to find a very nice welcome tray with cake, tea, coffee and milk, which was most appreciated. It was a pleasure to arrive back at the end of the day and be able to chill out in comfort. Would recommend.

Lovely fresh fully equipped house well placed for all the amenities nearby and very warm welcome from the owners who live next door.. Picture of garden slightly misleading as you have to cross the courtyard to access it but it has a good private parking space two steps from the door. Pickering short walk away, steam train and countryside all easily reached without having to drive.Flamingoland 15 minutes in car and ideal for our teenager. Would be happy to stay here again.

Really well appointed cottage with everything needed for a home from home feel.. Even the tea, coffee & cake awaiting our arrival! Weather wasn't the best so after a long days walking it was a pleasure to come back to a warm comfortable cottage. The cottage is well placed to visit lots of places, we took the steam train to Goathland (heartbeat fame) walked Mallyan spout then on the rail trail to Gosmont & train back. Rydale folk museum was another fascinating day out with lunch in the pub next door. We also easily got to Whitby with in 40 minutes. We will be recommending both the cottage & the area to friends & family.

We arrived a bit early but were met by the owners returning from the local shops a ten minute stroll down the main road . The cottage was well presented very nicely decorated with modern furnishings and we'll equipped kitchen with all modern appliances. Off road parking is provided for one car it is large enough for any size vehicle including larger SUV favoured by many people now . There is a large living room and good size kitchen diner upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms and nice bathroom with bath and separate shower over the bath . There is an excellent heating system so with the very thick walls should be nice and warm even in winter . There is also a fan heater in living room to use if needed. The local shops are just 10 minutes down road along with Pickering town centre they include both a Co op supermarket and a Lidl supermarket that has a very good in store bakery serving bread rolls , Danish pastries and various rolls which are lovely fresh baked for breakfast . All the shops you need are located in the high street along with Cafe's and Restaurants. The owners of the cottage have provided lots of information of local attractions and we found many places we liked . The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Pickering and we'll worth the trip even though it seems expensive it is very good value at just over 50p a mile .

It was fantastic and the the owners made us feel right at home. Any time we needed any assistance with anything at the property it was never a problem. I'd absolutely recommend to friends and family. The cottage was in great condition, it had all we needed for our stay. The rooms were lovely, it was very cosy and just felt like home. All in all it was a wonderful break and our two and a half year old son enjoyed himself especially!

When we walked through the door we knew it was going to be a great place to stay. Although we had never been before, it was almost like coming home! The décor is fresh, calm and peaceful, and is carried throughout the cottage giving it a really professional finish. Loved the cottage and loved the owner - she is just wonderful - nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely book to stay there again.
