"What an absolutely wonderful place to stay."
We had been surprised at being able to book at short notice, during the half term holiday, and know that photos can be a little deceiving of holiday lets. Anvil cottage is absolutely lovely. The thoughtful touches put in to what's provided and how the cottage is fitted out to make it feel like a home away from home are above and beyond. The location is great and the information provided is incredibly helpful, but really it's the obvious love and kindness that's gone into it that makes it wonderful. We felt at home the moment we walked through the door and were sad to leave. 10/10 and we will be recommending to family and friends, and hopefully coming back!
Thanks for this wonderful feedback. We are so pleased that you loved the cottage and enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

"An absolutely wonderful cottage ."
Tastefully decorated and well equipped with everything you could possibly need . Really comfy beds and dog friendly too with blanket , towels and bowls supplied . Brilliant location , easy free on street parking . We visited a couple of the nearby pubs - the Kings Head and The George & Dragon , both dog friendly (and people!) and served really tasty food . Will return , we loved our New Year break at Anvil cottage . A real gem in a lovely part of North Yorkshire .

"A sweet well positioned cottage with free nearby street parking."
Clean and comfortable. Larger bath towels or a few extra towels and pillows would be appreciated. Drinking glasses for champagne or sparkling wine would be an added bonus. Netflix or a smart TV which has the provision to access Netflix via customers own account

"We fell in love with Anvil cottage ."
On entering it was bright and airy and spotlessly clean . The flow of the rooms just felt right and we immediately felt at home It was beautifully furnished , very tastefully done with good quality furnishings that far exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was very well equipped for preparing meals . In fact I cannot think of one area where we could suggest an improvement. We stay in UK based cottages 2 or 3 times a year and regularly use Sykes to book . I think this is one of the best we have stayed in . There is no garden but a lovely addition of a table and chairs outside the front if you want to sit with a glass of wine and again , fabulous area with some beautiful flowering pots that are well kept . We had been a bit concerned about parking but after unloading outside there were plenty of roadside spaces and we didnt have a problem finding one when we returned in the evening . Kirbymoorside is a lovely , friendly , welcoming town . We had a drink in all of the pubs and were made most welcome by everyone. It's also an excellent base to explore this part of North Yorkshire . Great pride has been taken in Anvil Cottage by the owners and it shows .Lovely to return at the end of the day . We would love to stay here again and if we return to North Yorkshire it is definitely on the top of our list of cottages we would return to again . 10/10 , its fabulous

The property
Anvil Cottage is a gorgeous holiday home situated in the market town of Kirkbymoorside.
Located in the town’s conservation area, tucked away on a quiet private driveway shared with a few neighbours, just off the main thoroughfare of the town, known as the ‘Gateway to the Moors’.
It is perfect for an exciting getaway exploring the North York Moors National Park, nearby towns and the coast.
One of a cluster of buildings which were once part of the town’s metalworking history, it now offers tastefully furnished, modern accommodation in a charming, characterful cottage.
The sitting room is cosy but spacious, with an original beamed ceiling and here you can snuggle up in front of the toasty living-flame electric fire as you catch up with your loved ones or watch the TV.
Prepare hearty meals in the sleek kitchen/diner, fitted with glossy amenities including a washing machine and a dishwasher, whilst a sociable dining table rests behind if you want to keep the cook company before tucking into your food.
Refresh yourself before bedtime and head upstairs to the gorgeous shower room, soaking away your troubles underneath the dreamy walk-in shower before wrapping up in a heated towel from the rail.
Two stunning bedrooms, one with a standard size double bed and smaller 4ft double bed, await on either side, both well presented with colourful themes and ample storage.
If you want to breathe in the fresh air with your morning coffee, there's also a charming seating area at the front of the cottage, great for enjoying a moment alone before the day ahead.
From here, soak up your surroundings and stroll into the marketplace, just a stone's throw away, discovering a plethora of independent shops to browse and supermarkets to stock up on ingredients, as well as the 760-year-old weekly market on Wednesdays, and you're spoilt for choice with the pubs and eateries around.
Visit some of the local area's renowned attractions including the fascinating Ryedale Folk Museum, the expansive Kirkbymoorside Golf Club, and enjoy great walking and cycling opportunities, road and off road.
For a historic day out head to the beautiful City of York, with Roman roots and steeped in Viking history this walled city hosts modern day eateries and shops, or spend the day walking round the Jorvik Viking Center where you can take a step back in time and visit houses and workshops discovered by the York Archaeological Trust, then take a walk along The Shambles, a narrow street with traditional timber building dating back as far as 13th Century.
Visit other picturesque villages and towns nearby like the historic Hutton-le-Hole, Lastingham, and the ancient market town of Pickering, all with their own unique attractions to explore.
More adventure can be found at the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, Dalby Forest activities centre, and if you fancy a trip to the seaside, Whitby and Scarborough are just a short journey away for a classic day at the beach.
