The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,
waste reduction and promoting inclusiveness. They are on a mission to become the most widely
recognised sustainability standard for holiday rentals and a catalyst to reduce emissions of holiday
lets and influence guests to reduce their own household consumption too.
Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,
and their owner has made a commitment to look after our planet as well as you.
The location and all the facilities were fantastic.
Hope Cottage is Grand Cottage that has a very relaxing vibe.
The log burner was lovely at this of year.
The beds were super comfy.
The views from the garden were exhilarating.
The collection of games and maps were spectacular.
Hope Cottage is definitely a home from home.
The welcome folder was very detailed too, making for a super relaxed break away.
Our 10 Year Old son loved it and can't wait to go back.
We would definitely rebook.

"Love the place, our second visit this year."
One thing needs attention though and that is a decent frying pan! There are 2 both in a grim state, eggs stick and that ruins breakfast, a small complaint that is easily rectified.

"We struggled to find the cottage (the Post Office Lady helped) and were a little shocked at how tight the small entrance road is to the courtyard for unloading/re-loading."
Once in the cottage, we did find downstairs a little cosy, especially the kitchen and the dishwasher in the garage is a bit of a chore. The front door allows cold drafts into the lounge and could do with sorting out somehow. Upstairs is an absolute delight; with a lovely main bedroom with wonderful views and lots of space between all the bedrooms. One gripe, is the large window in the master bedroom, which has curtain dressings that let the morning light in, so if staying anytime other than the winter, you'd be woken up by the rising sun very early! The extra blinds at the windows need replacing (one missing, one broken), so it would be thoughtful to get some black-out blinds up, or line the curtains with black-out fabric: No-one wants to lose sleep on holiday! The bed is very comfortable. It has to be one of the most peaceful stays we have ever had: Away from traffic noise is a blessing. The garden has lovely views, but we did miss out on some warm, afternoon sun (when it was out) coming into the garden as the neighbours have their trees very high. It is a holiday cottage that made for a lovely, quiet break, but that break did end on a sour note, as during the last evening's stay, the cottage lost its wifi signal and that meant we couldn't operate the central heating and as it had been a very wet September day/night, we were very cold and went to bed unhappy to be. We spent the evening trying to contact the Caretaker; leaving numerous messages, which came to absolute nothing: We wondered if he actually existed?! This was unacceptable and something that needs investigating.

"Picture is from the rear of the property, finding it required local help."
Generally OK but could do with furniture upgrade as I wouldn't say it's comfortable. Kitchen is small, dishwasher and washing machine in the garage. OK for washing machine but dishwasher? Shower needs sorting out and bath area could do with some tlc. However price was good and we spend most evening out so no real issues.

"Wonderful accommodation in a superb quiet location."
Very comfortable and warm and well equipped. Immediately felt at home. Fantastic views from the living room, main bedroom and garden and a stunning double aspect view from the twin bedroom. Very comfy garden chairs and we were lucky enough with the weather to be able to use them in February! For a relaxing stay in an area overflowing with brilliant walks this can't be beaten. An absolute gem.

"Another lovely and comfortable week in this cottage."
It is well equipped, although missing a teapot. We also had to use our own Netflix account. The boot room is very useful for drying wet walking gear - good to see the new latch after my comment last year. An outside light would be helpful - one that came on automatically to light the way to the garage.

"We liked the cottage, although if it were me I'd have a modern kitchen."
The garden chairs were uncomfortable- shame as it was such a lovely view, and actually the sitting room chairs were not very comfortable- no headrest, wooden arms. I've come home with a slight backache. Most importantly, it is unacceptable to have no recycling bin.

View from the master bed room is spectacular with all kinds of wildlife visible - birds are beautiful in the morning. Spotlessly clean and close to all amenities and some great walks. For this looking for a quiet spell away Hope Cottage is perfect.

Comfortable and well equipped. Perfect base for walkers and cyclists-spacious secure garage for bike storage and boot room. We also loved the huge variety of board games, some new favourites added to birthday and Christmas lists!! Thank you for a wonderful few days.

"Really lovely cottage with bags of character and charm."
Lots of lovely artwork. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. The main bedroom has fantastic views and the bed is really comfortable. The boot room is an excellent place for drying wet walking gear although it is easy to get locked in if you are not careful as there is no latch inside the door.

"Shower didn’t work."
Single bed not comfortable. No hand soap or washing up liquid. Dishwasher should be in kitchen as cobbles very slippy carrying plates to garage. Fire guard needed for wood burner as sparks hit carpet. More information needed on where to park.

Upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are a good size although downstairs kitchen and lounge are bit cosier.
Downstairs door frame heights are strangely low despite tall ceilings. Beware your head if you're tall.

It is a lovely cottage with superb views. Reeth would be hard to beat as a sleepy dales village surrounded by the Swaledale hills but with a choice of four pub/hotels, ditto cafes and two bakeries.
We had a marvellous stay.

Everything perfect, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen but could benefit from a washing up bowl as taking washing up out to garage to use dishwasher a little tricky.

Lovely fire and thank you for the starter pack.
With views so special from lounge it would be lovely to position table in window alcove to lookout whilst eating. Wonderful garden and loved the table and chairs on terrace for morning coffee and evening drinks.
Fantastic shower and so nice to have bath after long day walking on the fells.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back and also recommend to friends. Thank you! Reeth is a special place.

"We enjoyed the views almost as much as climbing the hills!"
The ease of getting food and supplies was helpful too. Everything was spotless. The furnishings were new and modern, but very much in keeping with the historic cottage. It was very cozy and we really felt we had got away from the crowded South of England. The rabbits on the lawn and the little table in the garden were lovely touches. We would very much like to return.
