  • "Absolutely loved our stay at Hope Cottage."

The location and all the facilities were fantastic. Hope Cottage is Grand Cottage that has a very relaxing vibe. The log burner was lovely at this of year. The beds were super comfy. The views from the garden were exhilarating. The collection of games and maps were spectacular. Hope Cottage is definitely a home from home. The welcome folder was very detailed too, making for a super relaxed break away. Our 10 Year Old son loved it and can't wait to go back. We would definitely rebook.

The property

Tucked away in a courtyard, in the tranquil village of Reeth, is the charming Hope Cottage South.

This property is within easy reach of traditional inns, village shops and offers a delightful interior, stunning views from the garden, an idyllic escape for families and friends with walks in every direction from the door.

Park outside to unload your belongings then move the car to a roadside parking spot, where you can soak in the scenery of the village before heading inside the house.

The exterior boasts a garage where you can house your bikes for some enjoyable cycling in the country and a Boot Room with heat from the boiler to dry out boots and walking gear on the clothes hanger.

Make your way into the sitting room where you can settle into the sofa with the warmth of the woodburning stove circulating the room.

Step outside to the beautiful, rear garden to admire spectacular sights of the rolling countryside before you and savour a glass of wine as you absorb the peaceful atmosphere of Reeth.

When sleep calls, retreat upstairs to discover the refreshing blue decor of the double room or choose from the twin or single rooms; all three delightful rooms offer a feature fireplace to retain the charm of this property.

Reeth has an array of shops for you to stock up on any essentials, as well as tearooms for a quaint afternoon and pubs and cafes a home-cooked meal in the evening.

The village hosts Swaledale Museum, for those wishing to uncover the rural history and engrossing settlement stories of the area, or venture outside of Reeth to tour the inside of Bolton Castle.

For dramatic architecture and the grandeur of the Yorkshire Dales, head to Richmond where you will find a cobbled marketplace, a stunning Georgian district and a Norman castle.

For an enchanting escape with your loved ones, stay at Hope Cottage South.

Where you’ll be staying

REETH

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
