Holly hedge Cottage Briston Holly hedge Cottage Briston Letting Agent Sykes Cottages, Owner, Sue Lovell. Arrived Saturday afternoon on 12th March and was relieved to get out on the 19th of March. From our perspective this property was unfit for purpose as a result my wife Julie spent the first day cleaning the kitchen and I spent the week sleeping in a cupboard. I contacted Sykes, politely putting my concerns to the and asked for a full refund with an undertaking to het out of the property as soon as possible. Sykes responded refusing to admit that my concerns had merit saying that if we wanted a refund for 6 of the nights booked, we would have to be out of the property within 30 minutes, but we should be honoured to pay for the privilege of cleaning the kitchen and all needed equipment. It then went downhill from there. Sykes said that “you should count your self lucky if the kitchen is clean when you arrive” and the owner that everything was Sykes fault, or ours. My experience if it goes well, it goes well but if you have a problem it turns into a nightmare, you will be talked down to, lied to and ignored. They will minimise any points you raise and then find something irrelevant that they can put on you what more can I say other than more details, photo’s and copies of communications etc will be lodges at the following site Sykes Cottages Unhappy Customers Facebook page well worth a visit.

Stopped here as couldn't get any availability near the coast this year. The positives to this cottage is the enclosed garden, very good for our dog, and the bathroom is new and is clean. The bedding was clean and so were the towels, much appreciated. Unfortunately that's where the positives end, the rest of the cottage namely the lounge is cluttered with dark old furniture, the sofa has seen better days, ornaments and faux flowers everywhere just collecting dust really. We moved one of the sofas back to make some more room and it obviously hasn't been hoovered under for a long time. The hoover itself, when we arrived was full with the last occupants remnants, we had to empty it ourselves. There was also food left in the cupboards, half jars of honey and marmalade etc. The kitchen seems ancient, yes its equipped well, but there was still bits of food left in the fridge, toaster full of burnt bits, microwave has seen better days, so has the kettle, I could go on and on! The stairs are errmmm, steeper than I had imagined and the doorway to the other bedroom was very good at banging our heads on a regular basis (dont forget to duck) The village itself is really just in the middle of nowhere ( mistake on my part) We made the most of our holiday but will never return here. To the owners who I'm sure love this cottage, please think of updating the lounge and kitchen, it really is smelling fusty and old. To the cleaner, please try and do a better job, there was someone's pop bottle under my bed and tissues. Also a lucozade bottle left on top of the kitchen cupboards. I dont usually leave reviews but felt I really had to on this occasion. The cottage cost £830 for the week, we will be leaving a day or so earlier and returning home.

I think More emphasis should be made of the extremely vertical and tight stairs.. As there is no bathroom upstairs, going downstairs in the night is a precarious event. The floor in one upstairs bedroom is very slopey. Everything else about the cottage is excellent.

Internet failed on the Thursday.. So couldn't look up the weather for journey home. Accidently left my radio in the kitchen and my two dog bowls and a phone charging cable. Could I have them sent to my home please.

The cottage was in a delightful setting with beautiful gardens.. The owners had thought of everything to make our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. It was a short stroll to the local pub where we were made very welcome. All in all we had a brilliant time.

We found the holiday cottage really relaxing and gave us a great opportunity for some much needed family time together.. The only downside with the cottage was that the shower was very poor.. the shower head kept falling off, if this was replaced would make a huge all round difference!

Overall enjoyed our stay, was only let down by a couple of little issues such as the shower only dispensing either really cold or really hot water.. We would consider this cottage again in warmer weather but it is located very well for country parks, beaches for those who enjoy walks.

Great cottage.. Really well equipped. Within easy reach of Holt,Blakeney, wells & Cromer. Loved the open fire. Good selection of games, books and DVDs Lovely well kept garden We booked as a group of girlfriends so did not mind having to access the second room through the main bedroom but might be an issue for couples. We loved the fact that low season we could book Wednesday to Saturday and at £60 per person could not fault the value for money Would definitely stay again

We stayed in this delightful cottage over the Christmas period and were amazed at how beautifully it was decorated, even Christmas crackers were supplied. It is very well equipped with everything you would need for a stay. We took our two dogs so the garden was a bonus. The log fire made it for us as it was cold and frosty outside so we huddled around the fire. We paid a visit to Holt which is only a short drive away, a very quaint village with nice shops. Overall a very Happy Christmas break.

If you are looking for a real character cottage this is for you. From the wooden beams in the living room to the enormous fireplace it really was an absolute treat to stay here this week.Enclosed well maintained garden, fantastic if you have pets. There wasnt anything more we could have asked for .Hollyhedge cottage is well located for you to discover the beauty that lies within Norfolk. Wroxham Broads def worth a visit and Sheringham Park. Definitely give the Hunnybell restaurant a visit (5 mins) by car.Great atmosphere, location and desserts were to die for! :) Only 1 thing I would say is if anyone has trouble climbing stairs then the single room on ground floor is more suited.Other than that we didn't want to leave!

December 2015
The cottage was in a central position for Thursford, Sherringham and Cromer. The garden was fully-enclosed if you have a dog and the wooden beams, the rope to pull you up the steep curved stairs and the large wood burner all added to the feel and comfort of the cottage.
Mr Fosker
May 2015
The cottage was excellent and without doubt one of the best we have stayed in. We particularly liked the summerhouse but the accommodation, overall, was superb. Everything possible was provided and there is nothing, whatsoever, that we could complain about. The location is also first class for exploring the north Norfolk coast. Wells, Holkham (Hall and Bay), Blakeney, Holt, Sheringham and Cromer are all in easy reach.

A really great English cottage - almost out of an American film. The original cottage is one room downstairs and two up, with kitchen, bathroom and downstairs cabin sized bedroom attached as extensions at some stage. Excellently equipped. The really good things: downstairs bedroom by bathroom for elderly relative who couldn't do stairs; great sun trap garden and summer house; awesome fireplace;really good central North Norfolk location; good Pub 43 paces down the road. The quirky things: Parking off road a challenge for a big car like ours, ancient staircase a challenge for the unsteady, especially after the pub;second bedroom is found via first bedroom The irritating things: electric storage heaters ( I hate them); only one load of logs so had to buy more;no wifi and no O2 signal (other mobile signals ok ish) Dog loved lying in front of fire after a great run on the beach every day.. Try the village store/butcher/baker ....awesome

A beautiful cottage in a lovely village. The open fire, oak beams and higgledy-piggledy layout are just great and what you expect to get from a little English cottage. Reminded me of the cottage from the film 'The Holiday'

A good central location for touring north Norfolk. A very good range of local facilities within the village itself. A truly enclosed/escape proof garden for our Border Terrier. A very cosy cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and our first visit to Norfolk.
