August 2024
We booked The Dingle via Sykes and I had read previous reviews about the property not being clean so was a little apprehensive before we arrived. The description on the website said street parking on a first come first served basis but when we arrived we found we could fit a Vauxhall Corsa on the short driveway (if the passengers got out first) and we left another vehicle on the white no parking line across the drive with no issues. The period property has its original fireplaces and is furnished with traditional decor, I actually love this style but I can understand why some would call it dated. Whilst the property had been cleaned there were significant cobwebs throughout. There was a welcome tray on arrival which was greatly appreciated after a long journey. The weather was beautiful so we moved chairs from the dining room into the conservatory for the 8 of us to be in a light airy space looking out on the garden rather than the traditional lounge. The beds were really comfy and I cooked two meals for 8 people during our stay with no issues (didn’t find all the cleaning equipment in the drawer under the kitchen sink until the 3rd day). We had a couple of BBQs using disposable trays, a bbq stand would have been useful and we would have liked some wine flutes and pint glasses rather than the selection of sherry glasses that are available. We are 3 generations of the same family so the fact that the only upstairs bathroom is en-suite through the master didn’t matter to us as we are used to the kids walking in, maybe an issue for multiple families staying together. The beds were really comfy, linen (seaside themed) and towels were clean. Each bedroom had a fan and there were a couple of extension leads as overall there seems to be a lack of sockets (to charge the kids tech). What sets this property apart is its location to the beach, town centre and promenade - all an easy walk - so once you arrive you don’t need to use your car again. The 3.30pm check in and 10.30am check out were perfect for us and there was no overnight noise. The bins were emptied on Tuesday and Wednesday as we had moved the car from the drive. A point to note is that there is currently an issue with the plumbing, the kitchen hot tab has a significant trickle and when the downstairs toilet is flushed the kitchen tap vibrates with a loud noise, we wedged a plastic cup under it to slow the drip and prevent the noise but long term it will require a plumber to investigate. Also the garden is not secure, our dog had to stay on his lead whilst in the garden, the gates don’t shut if the car is on the drive but also there appears so be some waste land to the left of the property that is not fenced off. In an ideal world the garden could be split to form a fenced rear garden that runs from the second sitting room to the conservatory using the rear brick wall to form a secure area including the patio for children and a dog to play in, particularly if eating outside. The rotary clothes dryer in the side garden kept falling over, we wedged it whilst drying towels but this also needs some attention. Overall we had an excellent holiday, we would love to stay again in the future. None of the issues mentioned would deter us from staying again.

First time away with family in Covid season. NO evidence of any cleaning regime to make the place Covid safe. First 24 hours very stressful as we tried to clean up . It was very grubby, not even "normal" clean, so we were very anxious when we saw the state of the place on arrival. No mattress covers provided until we complained Bits of food left in fridge and freezer. I could go on. We had to just hope we were safe. Echo the review from November 2019 and there have obviously been no noticeable improvements Sykes cottages take no responsibility to award compensation

A spacious home with plenty of room for a large family to relax. An ideal location, five minutes walk to beach and town. Plenty of space in the garden but it is not secure for a dog, as you cannot shut the gate with a car parked. The garden needs some care, it would benefit from a regular gardener Space for two cars, a short car on the drive and one on the road. We were three adults and four teens aged 12-17. In July, the back of the house got very hot but was ok with the windows left open. It would be good if the owner supplied a fan for each room. There were several maintenance issues which we have emailed the agent about but these did not stop us enjoying the holiday and we intend to rebook. An airer would be useful to dry clothes indoors, although there is a tumble drier and clothes line outside. This house is comfortable but not smart and pristine. Bedding looks new. Kitchen appliances look fairly new. Comfortable beds. Comfortable but well used sofas. Essential kitchen crockery and cutlery is available. Three extension leads provided. The WiFi works. Information folder is basic and could be improved with local information. No visitors book, we wondered why.

On a positive note, we had a lovely week at the house and would re book.. Because the house is comfortable rather than pristene, it was relaxing with our four teenagers. We really appreciated the two sitting rooms with TV and the good wifi. The beds were comfortable. The bedding was new and cheerful. The house was mainly clean. The paintwork was in good condition, it looks like it's been recently renewed. The kitchen units and appliances are fairly new and all work. There is plenty of crockery for a large group. We appreciated the milk, tea and coffee on arrival. There's no guest book so I thought I would let you know about a few minor issues that need remedying. No bulb in side light in main sitting room Broken door handle on inside of ground floor bedroom Conservatory door misaligned with frame and needs adjusting No airer to dry clothes indoors. Ensuite shower head very poor water stream Ensuite toilet needs new cistern seal as it sometimes constantly refills JVC television in main sitting room has damage to display, a stripe across the screen Piano needs tuning Toilet door has a sharp metal edge by catch which catches clothing and could cut you Missing lightbulb in single bedroom Toilet seat unstable Main oven needs servicing, it does not cook food in time given on packaging, not hot enough Clothes line in garden needs stabilising Garden would benefit from a gardener, some rubbish in edges, dead leaves etc Garden furniture needs cleaning Information file would benefit from more local information Bedrooms very hot in summer, each would benefit from a fan. There are only two teaspoons! The large cupboard in the dining rooms needs sorting out, it's fascinating but we are not sure the owner intended to leave personal effects. We couldn't find a broom, it would have been useful to sweep up sand.

This was our second time at The Dingle and it met all expectations.. Holiday was easy to book and due to Covid 19 we were kept well informed of the situation. We would have no hesitation in recommending Sykes Cottages.

This is not a modern white glossed tiled property.. If you go expecting that you will be disappointed. What you will find is a property that feels like a home. Yes some of it is a bit tired but that only adds to the charm. 3 minutes from the beach 5 minutes from town the location is perfect. We had a couple of issues on arrival but text to the owner and all sorted within an hour. The property gives you the space for a large gathering and in the summer the garden would be fantastic. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend and stay again.

The bathrooms were clean, the bedding and towels were clean, as for everything else, nothing was! ! I have never been anywhere so shabby and grimey. The washing up bowl needs to be thrown away, every door handle and door in the whole place needs washing down, every skirting board is covered with dust and fluff, which must have taken months/years to get that bad. The sofa's are only fit for the tip!! Every mirror had been wipes with a wet cloth, so are smeared. The picture over the room we were in on the ground floor has mould on it as to most window frames, which also all need cleaning. The garden is not secure for dogs, so each time they needs to go out we had to take them on leads, also the house maybe dog friendly, but it smelt of dog, my house never smells of dog, and I have two!! We made the best if it as we were there with our son, daughter-in-law and two of our grandsons to celebrate our sons 40th birthday, but never again !!

Yes - considering the cost of the accommodation these are the comments which I would like to make you aware of 1.. Fortnightly collection of the refuse bins - both recycling and non recycling. When we arrived for our holiday the recycling bin was full which meant that we had 4 days of recycling waste so that when it was collected it was overflowing on the Wednesday. The non recycling waste was already half full when we arrived which meant that at the end of our holiday the bin was overflowing and this was not due to be emptied for another 4 days. We felt extremely sorry for the families that were due to arrive on Saturday. Hopefully the cleaning company did something to remedy this before the new arrivals. In our opinion because of the size of the accommodation the bins are completely inadequate. 2. Bed linen, pillows and duvets need replacing and updating (better quality of bed linen - all very tired). I also do not consider two tea towels sufficient - at home I would use one per day. 3. On departure my daughter stripped the bed linen in the ensuite room and noticed that the sheet was in fact stained/soiled. Had we have noticed this at the start of the holiday we would have alerted the cleaning company. On a positive point, the location was excellent and generally the accommodation was spacious and comfortable.

The Dingle is a lovely house in the perfect location for the beach and we enjoyed our stay.. There are a few things that could be improved to make the stays of future clients more enjoyable. The description of the house was a bit misleading in regards to the bedroom layout. It needs to be made clear that the only bathroom/toilet facility upstairs is an en-suite meaning that the occupants of the other two upstairs bedrooms need to go downstairs for the shower and toilet. The overall cleanliness of the property could be improved. There was a lot of dust and whilst the floors in the kitchen and conservatory had been hoovered when I wiped up some spilt water it became obvious they were very dirty. Some of the interior doors didn’t shut properly or were very difficult to open once shut. The garden could be a very lovely place to relax on a sunny day but it was very messy with uncut grass and lots of weeds. We did enjoy our stay at the Dingle and with a bit of care and attention to detail all the above are easily rectified and could make this a perfect holiday destination.

This was our 4th visit to the Dingle & we've already booked our 5th! Plenty of room for a family of 6 adults. We had a problem with the Internet which was sorted very quickly by the owner. The Dingle is very close to the centre of Cromer but really peaceful. Thank you for another lovely holiday!

If the cleaners had been in this property they very sadly did not do a very good job, the kitchen Butler sink had not been cleaned and neither had the toilets and as there were no cleaning products I had to go out and buy bleach.. There were cobwebs every where. The towels provided were not adequate for adults as we were expecting bath sheets Not hand towels. The garden in my opinion is not pet safe as my dog escaped into next doors garden via the Apple trees and could have quite easily got through the bars in the gates. Overall this house seems to be sadely neglected which is such a shame as it is in a brilliant location for the town centre pubs, restaurants and sightseeing.

Property was ideally placed close to beach and shopping, parking outside garage on road.. The amenities in the kitchen were not clean, the oven was dirty the grill pan grid was dirty and didn’t have a handle. The microwave was also dirty the cutlery draw was over crowded with implements and some items were rusty and dirty and not useable,we had to eat out most of the time as we couldn’t use the kitchen.the oven trays were rusty and dirty. The bottom of the toilet was brown and unsightly inside. The garden was overgrown with fallen apples over the ground most of which were rotting.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dingle, which was ideal for a family holiday with comfortable bedrooms, two sitting rooms for relaxation and an ideal location close to the seafront.. We were also fascinated to hear about the dancing career of the owner's late mother.

Your website is clear & easy to use.. I've never had any problems booking my holidays. This was our third time at The Dingle & I've already booked for next year! The cottage is clean, comfy, homely & in a perfect position for a stroll into Cromer.

March 2018
Very large, spacious property.. Most of the garden was secure but iron scroll type of gates meant we were not able to let our dog in the garden without a lead, had he seen something of interest, he would have easily got out. There was a lack of information book and visitor comment book. There isn't a shaver point in the ensuite or bathroom. There were bedside lights but very limited sockets to enable use. The television in the downstairs bedroom did not work - maybe a matter of needing new battery in the remote control? The property is very convenient for the town centre and beach yet a very pleasant quiet area.

This House is in one of the best locations in Cromer, Sadly once inside we felt very let down the house was very cold decor and furniture was very tired once in the kitchen things get worse the freezer was unusable the door is faulty and thus needs defrosting pots pans and cutlery were dirty and chipped, there was no bedding for the bed settee, the downstairs loo had no hand basin, the downstairs showeroom had no heating the carpet gripper on the stairs is dangerous the full glass doors were not toughened the radiator in the bathroom did not work the wooden windows were wet inside and puddles on window sills, the waste bins were full so we had to bag our rubbish and leave in the very cold damp conservatory, a very disappointing stay for our family. with a little care and TLC this holiday let could be one of the best

December 2017
The Location could not be bettered, however on arrival the inside of the porch was very wet due to a leak in the ceiling the house was very cold with condensation running down the windows, there was no information re the location or operation of the central heating the room which had the bed settee in was awful and very cold and the bed settee had very little bedding we had to use some of of other beds, there was a couple of bulbs missing from lights, cleanliness left much to be desired all pots pans and cutlery had to be washed before use.. there was mouldy bread in the bread bin and sweets on the lounge floor from previous occupants the table cloth was stained, we had to bag our rubbish and leave in the conservatory as the bins were over flowing. however we made the best of a bad experience and enjoyed our visit to Cromer . We feel that with a little TLC this property could be a real Gem. Sorry to be so negative but this is what we experienced.

The temperature in the cottage was just right, making for a very comfortable stay.. It was nice to have 2 lounges so that we could avoid the TV if we wished to read. It was lovely being able to walk to the sea within a few minutes. A tray under the draining rack to stop water dripping onto the floor would be useful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Dingle. Thank you. With our best wishes, Jean and family
