Area
Southport, along with its neighbour Ainsdale, lies on the coastline where the Irish Sea meets North West England. The town was founded in 1792 when an innkeeper, William Sutton, built a bathing house at what is now the south end of Lord Street, the main road running through the town. The town was small and not very widely populated until the turn of 19th century, when it became popular with tourists due to the easy access it provided to Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It quickly expanded and now boasts the second longest pleasure pier in the British Isles, the Southport Pier Tramway and Lord Street, an elegant, tree-lined shopping destination.

The North West of England has something for every discerning traveller. Whether it is the fabulous sandy beaches of its famous seaside resorts or the historic backdrop of some of the country's oldest cities, it has something for everyone.

We loved our stay at the coach house. It was as we expected, very quirky and interesting. Eating our meals in former stables with the original hay racks and cubicles and climbing the spiral staircase to play a game of pool was the highlights. Also watching TV whilst in the shower was a novelty. Our bedroom downstairs was where the coaches would have been stored and was very spacious with TV and a settee. The place was very clean and the kitchen well equipped.Lounge is upstairs, kitchen and dining room downstairs. Alan the owner was there when we arrived and explained everything we needed to know. We were about 15min walk from town. We loved Southport with its long pier we walked up and thought the amenities were very good. Plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. I hours drive and we saw the Blackpool lights and 1 hour south we were in Liverpool. We will return to The Coach House again soon and recommend it for anyone looking for a different, quirky place to stay.

Our family had a fantastic holiday in Southport.. After Covid19 it was lovely to get away. The accommodation was spotless and kept up to my expectations during this pandemic. Alan was on hand if required and made us feel very welcome. The Coach House was a lovely place to stay and our family enjoyed the games room and 3 TV's including the Disney Channel. We will definitely go back again. Thank you.

This house is quite unique and exceptionally well equipped.. Behind an electric gate so very safe and secure. Spacious. We loved it. We left the car there and walked everywhere. Already booked for next year.

Beautiful house, lovely gardens in quiet area.. Bit of a walk into Southport, but taxis are cheap and reliable, and the bus stop is only around the corner. If there's more than four of you, you can get a mini bus into town and it only costs £4 each way (that's with Yellow Top Taxis). Fantastic value for money, spotlessly clean with an added bonus of a pool table and Nintendo Wii, perfect! Would love to visit again sometime soon.

We had an excellent stay at Southport Coach House and would highly recommend it.. It's location is very convenient for the main attractions in Southport. We loved the house and the history behind it. The spiral staircase is quite steep but we just took care and time when walking up and down. The pool table was fun and we had a family tournament, the kids loved this. We would definitely book this accommodation again on a visit to Southport.
