October 2020
The cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy.. It’s perfectly located for day trips around Kent and East Sussex. Brionny, the owner, kept us well informed about arrival times, location of key etc. and the welcome pack was much appreciated.

Beautifully presented cottage in a lovely setting.. The owner contacted us by phone two days before our holiday and also emailed us all the necessary information. Delightful welcome pace including wine! They also provided hand sanitizers and masks. A perfect base for exploring and many lovely walks.
Mrs Harvey, September 2020
September 2020
Can't fault anything about the cottage.. Both location and facilities great. Particular highlights for me were (a) within yards of Chartham station (I travel by train with suitcase, rucksack and bicycle) (b) although nearest supermarket 2 miles away, there is a beautiful footpath/cycle path along Great Stour Way to get to it. But also, the village is very quiet & picturesque, with a good shop and pub.

Superb accommodation with everything provided that anyone would need.. Beautifully planned and maintained, and a lot of thought had been put into making it as Covid secure as possible. Perfect for a couple or for someone on their own. Ideal location within easy reach of Canterbury, the Kent coast and superb countryside in the North Downs. Excellent public transport links including a station with regular trains about 100 yards from the property. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cosy cottage, perfect for two and ideally situated to explore this picturesque county.. The owners were very helpful & (socially distanced) welcoming, as were the neighbours. Would definitely recommend & book again.

March 2020
We had a wonderful holiday here, Thank You, and fortunately just before Covid-19 Lockdown in March 2020.. The property is very charming, nicely decorated and most importantly very clean and tidy, very well equipped, warm and peaceful, in fact all you could wish for from a holiday cottage. We especially liked the conservatory for meal times morning and evening. The property location was charming too, very near the railway, and with a few super friendly sheep a few doors down, to the right, to visit and fed was a bonus too, to any animal lover. It was really good to be so near the small train station and to be able to catch the train into Canterbury within 6 minutes, it really enhanced our holiday. The village is very small and peaceful, with a lovely riverside walk and green spaces, plus a small but adequate village shop. Thank you very much for the wonderful welcome basket too, full of lovely essentials and treats.
Mr Robinson, March 2020
January 2020
Lovely welcome pack to greet us.. Warm and cosy despite frosty mornings. Stayed twice last year and back again later this year. So convenient for station and bus stop just outside too. You wouldn't even need to use the car if you didn't want to. Tried the local pub for our treat night and that was gorgeous, especially the homemade lemon meringue cheesecake! Would definitely recommend

May 2019
Wonderfully cosy and well-equipped cottage with a much appreciated warm welcome from the owner.. Chartham village is an ideal location for walking, there are footpaths and bridle paths everywhere. As there's a train station in the village you can do any number of fantastic linear walks or pop into Canterbury (under 10 minutes), without having to take the car. The village pub does good food and the village store is open until about 9 which was handy when coming back from a long walk. Fantastic holiday!

January 2019
We loved the welcome pack that Brionny had provided - those little extras are real treats.. The cottage was warm and cosy with books, dvds and games for those who want to chill out. The cottage is literally a minute away from the train station by foot but the trains did not disturb our break at all and, as I was working in Ashford, I could use the train and my husband had the car if he needed it. The bus stop is literally at the end of the drive so this is an ideal location if you want to soak up Kent without the hassle of driving. We have already booked again for March and will certainly use again, particularly if we are visiting in the autumn and winter. Lovely little place.
Mr Waddington
September 2018
What a great location for exploring Kent.. Right next to the railway station giving easy access to Canterbury just 5 minutes away. Great local hospitable pub, and a great level walk into Canterbury following the river.

We have been to Aspley cottage 3 times and we've always enjoyed it.. We love the little village of Chartham and the cottage is so beautiful and homely. We also love seeing the animals in the friendly neighbours adjoining fields. The goats, sheep and hens and geese are so adorable and are lovely to watch. Train and bus transport on your doorstep means easy access to many lovely places. It really is an ideal place to visit.
Miss Thorneycroft

March 2018
The cottage is nicely kitted out, we really appreciated throws, lovely old books about Kent and the OS maps.. Huge amount of things to see and do in every direction and lovely walks around the village. We appreciated the larder basics and the welcome pack and thoroughly enjoyed our week. Our first return visit to Kent after many years and had forgotten the beauty of the villages, Chartham certainly made a perfect base for exploring.

From the booking to the check out my husband and I had a wonderful Christmas break at the cottage.. It was our second year in a row and we wouldn't hesitate to book again. The cottage is in a perfect location. Close to the railway so you can park the car on the drive and leave it there until your return home. The welcome food basket was a lovely touch. The owners are a delight and take you on a tour on your arrival. It's a wonderful, comfortable place to stay. Would highly recommend.

A quaint & characterful cottage originally built for railway staff it is not the biggest property but more than adequate, Briony the cottage owner is on hand to welcome you to the cottage with a basket of essentials. to the rear of the property is a sun trap garden with seating & quite private in its aspect. if i had any qualms regards this property it would be the two seater chesterfield which is looking a little tired.
Mrs Skilton, August 2017

September 2016
The 3 Apsley cottage was really a nice cottage.. It was very clean and the welcome basket was just so nice. The location was really great and there was so much to see in that area. Having the train so close was a plus and we did use the train to visit Canterbury so we did not have to bother with parking. Also, the Artichoke pub, that Brionny recommended, had some of the best food, especially my steak pie.
Mr Frantz, September 2016

The cottage has been delightfully renovated. It is warm and cosy and well equipped. In spite of its proximity to the railway and a main road it is very quiet The conservatory is a particularly attractive feature. We found the bed extremely comfortable but for those wanting a softer mattress a topper is available. On arrival Brionny took us on a tour of the cottage and explained the appliances. She was friendly and welcoming. A basket of goodies was a nice touch. Pleasantly furnished this cottage has everything you need for an enjoyable break. It is ideally placed for access by bus or train to Canterbury. The Park and Ride is also nearby and is the cheapest option unless everyone has a bus pass! Within half an hour you can reach most of the attractions in this part of Kent. Sandwich was a favourite of ours. We would certainly return.

The position of the cottage opens up excellent transport, cycling and walking links to Canterbury and much more. The quiet was surprising as road and rail links are nearby. The gated railway crossing which is manually opened and closed by the signal man adds to the village experience. If you have never visited this corner of England you will need to look a long time to do a lot better than this cottage.

This cottages is ideal for couples who want a bit of peace and quiet. As it was an old railway cottage, the owners have purchased bits and pieces that tie in with the theme of it. They have fitted it out to a high spec. with plenty of kitchen equipment, it is very clean. They even provided a good selection of DVDs and candles for a romantic feel.

Everything was great. Very friendly welcome by the owner. Cosy, convenient and comfortable with many thoughtful touches. Lovely garden. Really useful to have wifi for us. Stairs are quite steep, so you need to be cautious if you aren't fairly agile, though we're seniors and had no problem.

The warm welcome from the owner started our holiday well. Everything is provided that you'll need. A good mix of mod-cons (dishwasher, wi-fi, "smart tv" which hooks up to the internet so you can use iplayer, itvplayer etc) but the cottage still has oldy-worldy charm (wooden floors etc). So handy for Canterbury, either walk on the river bank or catch the train from the station just over the road. Local corner shop sells everything and is open till at least 9 each evening! Spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault anything with the cottage, would highly recommend it!
