Description

Westgate-on-Sea is a charming Victorian seaside town with quaint shops and two blue flag sandy beaches, Westgate and St Mildred's. The property is an easy 2 minute walk to St Mildred's beach and the public tennis courts, and it is only a 30 minute walk into the vibrant coastal town of Margate.  You can stroll into the centre of Westgate-on-Sea which has a good range of independent shops, restaurants, and a cinema. There are direct train routes from London into Westgate, so no need to bring the car!

Close to the beach, this well-positioned townhouse offers spacious and modern holiday home accommodation over three floors with 2 sitting rooms, 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  The ground floor is open plan and has a sitting room, a dining area and a well-equipped kitchen. Outside there is an enclosed garden, perfect for alfresco dining. On the first floor you will find another sitting room with 2 large comfy sofas, a double bedroom and the family bathroom.  On the second floor there are two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite shower room. The property has been furnished and decorated throughout to a high standard, offering stylish and comfortable accommodation for all the family to enjoy with lots of space to spread out and relax.  The property is in an excellent position to enjoy walking to the beach or along the promenade to Margate in one direction or to Birchington in the other. Bring your bicycles and explore all the cycle trails or just bring your bucket and spade and enjoy a traditional seaside escape with all your family and friends.

We love this property because it is a happy home base to enjoy a traditional seaside holiday with family or friends, keen on walking along the coastal paths or just playing in the sand

Out and About:

Margate is within walking distance and offers boutique shopping, restaurants and cafes and the newly revamped Dreamland theme park. If you are looking for culture head to the Turner Contemporary Gallery to catch the latest art exhibition. You can play golf at the Westgate and Birchington Golf Club and miles of coastline can be explored on foot or by bicycle on the Viking Coastal Path which is highly recommended. There are several castles, stately homes’ and gardens, as well as Canterbury Cathedral to explore within a 30 miles radius.  Quex Park is a country estate with many family-centred attractions from a farm park to indoor activity centres and Reculver Country Park is also a recommendation for walking and enjoying nature. There are glorious views over Reculver Beach and the sea towards Herne Bay and the Reculver Towers.  Broadstairs (approx. 5 miles away) is another lovely seaside town on the Kent coast with a spectacular coastline offering seven sandy beaches. There is a surf school in Joss Bay and miles of cliff top walking. There is also a lovely mix of eateries and tea rooms and of course the famous Morelli's retro ice-cream parlour on the seafront. The small fishing town of Whitstable (approx. 17 miles) is full of traditional charm, maritime history and you will also find the freshest seafood here – the town is very famous for its oysters.

Reviews

The location of this property is its true selling point - such close proximity to the beach (with very good beach bars) and the town, which has a welcoming, community vibe, and station. An easy walk to some great eating places, and into Margate. The house is well-equipped and a good size, providing two sitting rooms and two bathrooms/shower rooms. A lovely modern kitchen, comfortable beds and sofas, and a good size dining area. Plenty to do and explore in this fantastic part of Kent. The Viking Coastal Trail enables safe and easy walking or cycling between bays and beaches. We highly recommend a visit to this beautiful area.

Mr S,

By the Bay is modern large well equipped and well furnished house very close to the lovely sandy beach of St. Mildred's Bay. It is in an excellent location for exploring the beautiful Thanet coastline either by foot, bike or car.

Ms M,

A nice house, well equipped, comfy beds. Location to beach was awesome, reason we chose this house. Lovely to walk to the sea in minutes, great beach bar/cafe, restaurant. Had a lovely meal at St Mildred’s Bay restaurant. Lovely walks along the promenade. Nice day in Canterbury, everywhere also very accessible by train.
