We arrived at the cabin after a 5 hour drive We were loaded up with good food intending to have ‘self catering’ holiday. What we were greeted with was a musty smelling dark place that was ill equipped for what was expected. No oven , you needed to be limbo dancer to operate the microwave and no food prep or storage at all. All the furniture felt sticky and not of an acceptable standard that we would expect for the money paid . To be totally frank it made us both want to wretch . We lasted 15 minutes before walking out of the door . The morale of the experience is never book somewhere like this without reading Trip Advisor !

Beautiful location, we enjoyed different walks every day and loved the area, and how dog-friendly it all is.. Previous occupants (mostly) had written glowing reports. But there needs to be some care and attention to the accommodation in our view. It’s small, but that’s fine, that’s what we wanted, but it’s not mega-cheap - £633 at Easter - so expectations are quite high. We ended up leaving early. The rats: we saw the devices to keep rodents out but they weren’t entirely successful. Scrabblings in the walls which drove us and the dog mad at night, and rat poo in the bathroom. The shower: doesn’t work, the shower head moves about, soaking the bathroom and not the person in the shower. Needs two people to get one person clean, which can be fun, but not necessary! The kitchen tap: we couldn’t stop it dripping and it’s so close to the bedroom it was very annoying at night. We ended up putting a washing up sponge under it but it wasn’t great. The kitchen: we cook rather than eating out. The kitchen was tiny as expected, no problem. If only the fridge door and the cooker door opened the other way out it would have been perfect for us, but the way it is it needed contortionism beyond my skills. The freezer compartment door kept falling off also. We didn’t write anything negative in the Visitors’ Book, as it was so gorgeous a place, but it needs a bit of sorting.

Stephen, Judy, Ruby and Jasper were fantastic and very welcoming from the first day.. The New Forest is exactly how it’s always been and that’s the way we like it. Watching the array of birds in the garden and walking to local hostelries with our 9 month old Robyn was just the tonic. If you want to travel then everything is on your doorstep, but if you just want to ditch the car and look at the spectacular surroundings then this is the place for you. Thanks Darren, Sam, Robyn, Scarlet and Jester x

Endymion is the perfect tranquil rustic cabin in the woods.. The nearby pub, The High corner Inn is an easy walk (<5 minutes) and it's 100% dog friendly serving great quality food. Endymion is a great base to work from with easy immediate access to the nearby forest and heathlands/moors. We stayed for 5 days in June and the weather was a mixture of bright hot sunny days and others which were overcast so we were able to pick our activities accordingly. We walked our dogs three times a day and kept returning to Endymion for rests and a cheeky cider on the patio in the secluded garden which itself was packed with wildlife including squirrels, Woodpeckers and a host of different bird species. We were visited daily by wild ponies grazing on the grass verges and open areas. The hosts Steve and Judy were very affable and gave great tips and advice on the local area, points of interest and places further afield. Everyone we met was very friendly and we are already in the process of booking another visit which seems to be the recurrent theme of everyone who placed an entry in the visitors book. I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a secluded break in the countryside.

Endymion is a very nice quiet little cabin comfortable in an ideal place for either a relaxing or ramblers / walking holiday.. A very nice welcome pack and a bottle of wine to greet us. Bird and wild life in abundance. No complaints about the holiday at all If I was to say anything negative it would be we thought the cottage could benefit from a little TLC the interior is clean but tired looking but that is only my opinion.

The most perfect cabin in the middle of the forest.. Away from any main roads it was heaven. The owners Steve and Judy were lovely and made us most welcome. The endless walks with our dog Lola were stunning and literally out from the front door you are in the forest. Ponies, donkeys, cows and deer everywhere and some amazing bird life. The two local pubs both within walking distance are superb and both totally dog friendly and lovely staff. Cannot wait to go back.

Just got back home after spending a couple of wonderful days in this lovely little cabin.. It was perfect the location was stunning and the cabin itself was adorable. Many thanks to Judy and Steve for the much appreciated welcome pack. This is the perfect place to get away from the normal hassles of everyday life and the fact there is no WiFi or phone signal is an added bonus. Our 2 dogs had the most wonderful time and we can’t wait to come again.

Fabulous natural area which was peaceful but alive with a huge variety of wildlife - Nuthatches feeding young in the garden, Nightjars on the heath, and a full selection of ponies, cattle and donkeys along the track which leads to a pub at either end. Cabin was clean with small but fully equipped kitchen, homely lounge, comfortable bedroom, and clean bathroom with great power shower. Secure pet friendly garden complete with table/chairs and BBQ. The owners are characterful, knowledgeable and friendly - they leave you to get on with things, but the sort who would be fully supportive if there were any issues. Perfect for us as a base to do loads of local heath and woodland walks, but with good road connections enabling you to strike out further - Budgens at Shell station on Ringwood road in Blashford served us well for whole 2 week stay. We will return...

This small brick/log cabin, is in a perfect location.. It was in the heart of the Forest with some lovely short/long walks straight from the front door. There are two pubs within walking distance, we chose the High Corner Inn which is completely dog friendly & meals at around the £12.50 The cabin is lovely as you approach it, inside it is very basic, with a very small kitchen area. The bedroom is again basic but comfortable, the bathroom has a shower which provided lots of hot water. There is also a log burner in the living room. The rear garden is also dog friendly & seemed safe & fully enclosed. Its hard to describe this property as it is very basic but we wanted basic so we were fairly happy. There is no Wi-Fi or phone signal but again that delighted us, I read a book instead of playing on my iphone!!! This property is perfect to get away from the world & enjoy the forest. If you want luxury stay away.

Just sitting down with a cuppa on our return from a wonderful week hidden away in the lovely Endymion. We did a lot of research before booking this hide away. We were looking for somewhere in the heart of the forest, a short walk from a pub and a back to basic feel - all boxes ticked and then some in the end. The cottage is cute, rustic, cosy and situated within the forest with walks at the door step - our threes dogs have been well and truly exercised! We can highly recommend High Corner Inn and the Red Shoot, had lovely meals at both pubs. We also found the New Forest Inn in the centre of the forest and that was lovely too. The beaches were only a short drive away and most dog friendly at this time of the year. It really is paradise for dogs. Steve and Judy were very welcoming and friendly - something we really appreciated. The biggest compliment we can make is that we cannot wait to return!

Location of our stay was in a lovely part of the New Forest, however on arrival we immediately thought that we had paid way over the top for what was on offer. The 'cabin' felt similar to staying in a b&q shed and was grubby. We left a day early as was unable to get the shower to work and no contact was made with the owner during our stay. On return we contacted Sykes Cottages with whom we made the booking and told them of our experience especially shower facilities not working. They contacted the owner who denied anything was wrong. I had take a video of the shower not working which clearly showed the issue however it was still denied. I feel annoyed that we had to cut short our holiday and wasted money on this booking. My recommendation would be to avoid.

August 2015
Great location just a shame about the cleanliness of the cottage and the crockery etc. Very dark inside and all rather grubby & 'tired. Lots of cobwebs & spiders. Could be made into a wonderful romantic getaway with some money spending on the interior. New pillows etc would certainly help. Finding snails climbing up the bathroom walls was not the best experience. The bed settee couldn't be used properly as not really enough space to put up safely. Cooking facilities very basic. On a positive note the bottle of wine & flowers were a nice gesture. The pictures on the website are also out of date. High Corner pub (just a short walk/drive away) do a wonderful Sunday lunch carvery and good evening meals.

This charming little chalet was set in a quiet part of the new forest..an ideal location if you want to drop off the map.we were left some provisions to get us started along with flowers on the table & a bottle of wine.there was a woodburner to keep the chalet cosy in the evening along with a plentiful supply of wood.a bbq where they even left a supply of charcoal..we took our two dogs that were welcome as there was an enclosed garden.we sat and watched various colourful birds on the feeders in the late afternoon including a pair of woodpeckers.a pub that did food & had a large was a 10 minute walk down the lane.thoroughly recommended relaxing break & we shall be returning.

June 2015
This cabin in right in the forest and a great place to stay for a break. We stayed for a week with our 2 dogs and loved it. Yes, it is small, but it is a cabin so that's to be expected - if you read the property details your expectations should be set correctly. Kitchen facilities are limited but there is a barbecue (coal was also provided!). There are 2 pubs within walking distance - 1 about 8 mins and the other 45 mins - both of which welcome dogs and have a good selection of food and drink. The owners dogs were out in the garden but were very friendly and at no time attempted to get into our part of the garden. Before we left we were already discussing when we could come back again, fantastic week and can't wait for our next visit.

It was a lovely little chalet set in the heart of the New Forest. The owners made us feel very welcome. There was a log burner that we used on a couple of evenings that made the place feel warm cosy. We sat outside in the late afternoon morning, and watched the birds on the feeders, including a pair of lovely spotted woodpeckers. Would definitely recommend to our friends family, and will be back again.

January 2015
We stayed for a week and feel it was more suited for a long weekend. Although we both loved the charm of the cottage I don't feel we would particularly return. The forest location is great really quiet, however from the photos shown we assumed we would be away from other properties, we weren't we were in the same yard as the owners who had two noisy dogs. I am frightened of alsations and found it intimidating. They also had a number of cars on the from including a souped up Peugeot that came growling up the path at times. Three of the table lights didn't work and we only saw the owner once and we were desperate for more wood so ended up buying candles to use instead of getting bulbs. The kitchen was small with no oven so cooking was a pain. It was fine for the short time we spent inside and the owner was lovely but personal preference we wouldn't go back.

December 2014
Lovely area with a pub that had vegetarian/vegan options. Nice touch with the bird feeders in the garden. We sat and watched the birds every morning and I practiced my wildlife photography. Lots of walks right on our door step. This was a great location for us, particularly me since I am involved in wildlife conservation. I was able to set up camera traps (without worrying they would go missing) in the area and capture wonderful images of nocturnal animals we may have otherwise missed. The cottage itself was cosy and the wood burner kept us warm after a day of trekking through the forest with our extremely tired 'kids' aka the dogs. We found lovely vegan places to eat 20 mins from the cottage on the few occasions we did venture outside the forest.

Superb - a quirky cabin in a perfect location a gem of a find. It was off the beaten track but directions were perfect. The owners were welcoming and supplied a very welcome pack on arrival with a fresh flower too!

The place was truly beautiful, the forest amazing with animals running free. But the cottage was right next to owners house who were always snooping around, knocking on our door and rudely threw us out at 9.55 am ( 10 am is usually the leaving hour). Won't repeat or recommend!

January 2014
We stayed in a lovely little rustic cabin in the New Forest. Located in a quiet area of the owners garden. Very relaxing and tranquil. Walks on the doorstep. Very dog friendly. Pub within walking distance, serving good food. Sadly, we found when lighting the woodburner, we were unable to relax infront of the fire. The front of the woodburner did not have glass that you could see through, and so we were not able to see the flame. This was a shame, as this was one of the main reasons we rented the cabin. We also found that the en-suite shower room had a strong odour from the damp. Only having an electric wall heater, which we found very warm, but not enough to stop the damp smell.

April 2013
Have to say I was a little disappointed with this property. Yes it is tucked away in some fantastic countryside with some great walks right on the doorstep but in reality it is a small wooden cabin which can only be easily accessed with a 4x4 vehicle as it is reached in either direction for at least a mile along a rough, potholed forest track (in fairness to the owner he was improving the worse of the ruts near the cabin when we were there). Although the owner has made some nice little homely touches the kitchen is tiny and along with the bathroom just about adequate but nothing special. Although there is a woodburner it is cracked and in need of replacement so is not very efficient at heating up the property which, due to its construction, is very draughty in cold weather. The property looked as if it could do with a bit of a facelift and some new furniture - the dining table and chairs are very wobbly. It's a good base if you are looking for somewhere within easy reach of Ringwood/Christchurch/Beaulieu etc, all of which are an easy drive away, or you like walking/have dogs and don't intend doing much cooking and are only going to return to the cabin to sleep. Oh, and if it's important to you to have a decent mobile signal/broadband access this property is not for you! Mobile signal very patchy, only worked on and off nearby and not in the cabin. There are a great couple of pubs within walking distance, both of which are very friendly, welcome muddy boots/paws and serve great value food. The Red Shoot is about 25 mins walk from Endymion, High Corner Inn about 15 mins away.

We had a great time staying here and loved the fact it was literally in the middle of nowhere with lots of nice walks and a great local pub with good food and drinks within walking distance. Such a shame we managed to book up in November time, and it turned out to be when the big freeze (Feb) was happening. Despite this, the place was beautiful, warm, clean and welcoming and the hosts so friendly and helpful( esp.when my partners motorbike got stuck in the unexpected snow!). Really gorgeous clean, cosy place with some surprise welcome provisions. Loads to do. Just take a satnav and go when the weather's a little less treacherous!

The Cottage was nicely tucked away a mile or so from any main road and so peaceful. Out of the gate and straight onto the New Forest, and a less touristy bit at that. Our dog loved it, as did we. Also, although the owners lived in the next cottage, we never saw them, it was just wonderful.

arrived early but no problem owner greeted us and told us whats what and where it is. they also supplied a bottle of wine, milk, etc etc and brought us a drink when we went to the local pub. The home was great and the location was very peaceful. The amenities where ok but could do with a cooker and oven than just the rings. Even our dogs had bowls supplied for them This was the first of many visits we will be making. Both local pubs can be got to by walking. Best trying the Red Shoot its open allday all year round. Seeing the Horses, Cows and Pigs walking about free was really nice. Our only downside was the rain but it was November

We liked the kindness of the owners, the quietness of the property, the beautiful surroundings, the fresh vegetables out of the owner's garden and the garden and the terrace. Lovely places to visit near Linwood.
