Sitting on the street said to be the inspiration for Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley, this beautiful home all but guarantees a magical stay in the capital. Just a stone’s throw from Covent Garden and Leicester Square, you’ve got more entertainment on your doorstep than you can shake a wand at.
Step inside and you’ll be met with classically designed interiors that feel like an elegant step back in time. On the entrance level, the sociable living room is all plump sofas and shelves stacked with books – the ideal setting for a quiet afternoon of reading or a classy high tea amongst friends. Head downstairs and you’ll find the country-style dining room with its decorative brick fireplace. Home chefs will delight in the underground kitchen with its sleek appliances ready to help whip up delectable homemade dinners when you’re not out sampling the high-end dining scene outside your door. This is also where the snug is that beckons cosy movie nights and board games over evening glasses of wine and plenty of flowing conversation. We particularly love the posters nodding to the area's theatrical history – the owner's uncle even features in some of the pieces of art.
Upstairs, meanwhile, the three bedrooms are equally as charming with their antique-meets-contemporary decor, as well as the bathrooms that blend Old World elegance – think a claw foot tub and a pull chain loo – with modern amenities to create the perfect match of styles.
And then, of course, there’s our favourite part of the house – the gorgeous private terrace with its rooftop views. Whether you’re enjoying an alfresco breakfast and coffee here on balmy mornings or pouring out a celebratory bottle of bubbly at sunset, this outdoor haven is a treat to retire to at any time of day.
When it comes to exploring nearby, the city’s your oyster – Covent Garden is a three-minute walk, Leicester Square is walkable in four, and Soho is a mere twelve minutes away on foot. Shop along Oxford Street (a twenty-minute walk), catch a dazzling West End show (a five-minute walk) and soak up all the energy and vibrancy that your Central London locale has to offer.
Home truths: *This home is laid out over three floors with internal stairs between them, so it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility *As you're in a wonderfully central location, you may hear some street noise *There's no dedicated desk here, but the dining table can double up as a laptop-friendly workspace if needed *The home's entrance is private *We recommend skipping the car here and exploring London on foot or by public transport instead – Leicester Square Station is a three-minute walk away
