Inspired by the nearby 221B Baker Street, this traditional apartment is as English as our favourite detective. Those who admire period features will have plenty to fawn about here – picture antique writing desks, large windows with Juliet balconies, and other Victorian touches. Though dated, it has all the contemporary comforts – just note it's a studio, so the guest sleeping on a sofa bed in the lounge will lack some privacy. Location-wise, Marylebone is home to cafe-lined streets, leafy Regent's Park, and close to the shops on Oxford Street. John Lennon once lived next door, so you'll be in good company.

Home truths:
*A sofa bed in the lounge can accommodate one adult or two young children. Though the maximum number of adults allowed here is three, this apartment can sleep two adults and two children comfortably.
*This apartment is quite dated, but we think that's part of the charm. That said, it won't suit those who prefer more contemporary and modern interiors.
*There isn't a lift here, and this home is on the first floor. You'll be expected to climb a few steps on a spiral staircase.
*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a free cot upon request.
