There are scenic walking and cycling trails aplenty, including the renowned 102-mile Cotswolds Way where you can expect the very best scenery.

For a taste of the city, head to Gloucester, where you can delve into history at the National Waterways Museum and Gloucester Museum, tour Gloucester’s former prison and a historic 13th-century Blackfriars Priory.
