Brooklands is a typical Cotswolds’ cottage tucked within the Ballinger’s Row, a historic collection of 17th century cottages and is situated in Chedworth, Gloucestershire. The property has many modern and spacious rooms presented with antique touches which give this cottage a cosy and homely feel. Inside there is a living room with an open fire, a fitted kitchen with a dining area. Upstairs has one double bedroom and one single bedroom with a separate bathroom and WC. Outside has an enclosed mature garden and situated on a narrow lane unencumbered by traffic, and has views over the vast countryside and surrounding farm. Parking is located at the end of a small lane and is about 75 yards away from the property itself. Brooklands is ideal for a couple with a small child. Please note there is a Good House Keeping Bond of £50 for this property, this will be shadowed at the time of booking.

Firstly, I would like to extend my gratitude for providing accommodation during our recent stay at your cottage. However, I feel compelled to address several concerns regarding our experience. When we initially booked your cottage, we placed our trust in the listing, expecting the amenities described to be accurate and functional. Unfortunately most of the cottage appeared to be disingenuous and lacked authenticity. One of the primary issues was with the the absence of parking facilities, despite being mentioned in the description that there was pariking, the layby advertised was consistently occupied, leaving us to look for parking further away from the cottage since all parking bays in the area are private. This meant walking a considerable distance in inclement weather, often resulting in getting drenched. Additionally, the shower head was inconveniently fixed to the wall at a considerable height, making it challenging to use. Furthermore, the absence of a freezer or freezer compartment was unexpected and inconvenient, limiting the ability to store perishable items adequately. The incessant squeaking of the wooden floorboards disrupted not only our stay but also disturbed the tranquility of the entire neighborhood! Communication with the designated host was another issue of concern. We were not provided with a contact person. We use Airbnb twice or three times a year and were always given a contact person and telephone number. Despite being provided with a phone and email, attempts to reach out remained unanswered. Consequently, we were left to resolve any issues independently, which significantly impacted the quality of our stay. Moreover, the malfunctioning washing machine for a significant portion of the stay was highly inconvenient, as was the instability of the kitchen bench. The overcomplicated directions provided by Sykes Cottages added unnecessary stress to our journey. We asked for GPS coordinates but got no reply. The inadequate lighting throughout the cottage, except in the kitchen, was a notable concern. The bedroom, in particular, was better lit using our mobile phones. Furthermore, the absence of a wardrobe made organizing personal belongings challenging. In summary, the aforementioned issues significantly detracted from the overall experience. I hope this feedback serves as constructive criticism to enhance the quality of future guests' stays, however Sykes Holiday Cottages - never again! Have photos and videos to back all our claims.

This cottage is in a lovely location in a quiet village with an excellent pub and a good farm shop within walking distance.. The cottage has lovely big rooms full of character. However there is no parking at the cottage and the nearest parking could sometimes be full. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed. However there is only one bedside lamp, and as we both like to read in bed, a lamp on each side would have been appreciated.

The cottage was absolutely stunning and perfect for two people.. The wooden beams and the gorgeous log burner added to the charm of the building. The location was perfect for getting out and about and was close to plenty of walks. There was a great local pub too! If anything, the cottage just needed a bigger, cosy sofa to come back to at the end of a long day exploring. A mini freezer for ice would have also been great! But we loved the cottage overall and would definitely consider returning.
