Area
Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.

I just love this cottage and villiage . It’s the second time we have stayed. It’s right in the centre of Bourton and has everything on the doorstep . Stayed with friends who booked it for my birthday. The owner was very helpful and let us check in early and recommended some walks and lovely places to eat. The place was very clean and cosy and looks like it’s been updated since we were last here, I love what you have done with the bathroom. We ate at the Aroma which was really nice and visited The slaughters and which is very quaint . Would definitely love to come back later in the year.

What a lovely cottage in a fantastic central location. We were looking for something cosy and characterful and Inglenook Cottage was the perfect choice. Parking spaces were available for free in the streets surrounding the cottage and we left the car for our whole stay as everything you need is located within walking distance. The nice touch of a real Christmas tree and decorations made it perfect for our festive weekend. We liked it so much we booked again for next year.

We loved this little cottage. It’s right in the centre of everything, we met the owner on arrival who was very helpful, thank you for the advice on booking restaurants. We found everything we needed and was very well equipped and clean. Beds were really comfortable, and rooms although small were cosy, we could see the owners attention to detail and decor are part of its charm. We loved the real Christmas tree and lights in the garden, with the log fire, made our Christmas break really cosy. The nearby shops had everything we needed, lots of eateries and places to drink and walks for our dog. We will definitely be back next year and happy to recommend

Great location in the centre of the Cotswolds: lots of places to eat nearby short walk for anything from fish and chips to a glass of Champagne. Enjoyed a couple of lovely evening meals in the airy conservatory and although the bedrooms are small there is quite a bit of storage good double size rooms. Single beds in the second bedroom can be made into a decent double. Wood burner in the cozy front room would have been great if it was cold but didnt unfortunately need it! Kitchen well stocked clean and tidy. Host accommodating with check in time. Looking to return Christmas time!

The location is fantastic - leaving the front door and you can see the river and centre of everything right there (pubs, restaurants &shops). The cottage is extremely cosy and clean, has a well kitted kitchen (dishwasher, full sized cooker, microwave, washing machine) and is well furnished. The small garden/courtyard at the back of the property was a nice place to eat our fish & chips. Although the cottage is in the middle of Bourton, it is very quiet at night being set back from the road. Milk, tea, coffee and biscuits where already there - even the dog had dog biscuits there for her. Really enjoyed the whole trip and will definitely be back again.

Very disappointing. The whole cottage was in my opinion very ‘unloved’. The small fridge had a small freezer compartment where the door to the freezer compartment did not shut and although this was pointed on with a note on the fridge it seems no attempt was made to repair or replace it as when the small fridge was opened there was a built up of ice on the inside and outside of the small freezer flap. The smoke alarm in one of the bedrooms only had the fitting on the ceiling. The shower was very old and fixed to the ceiling pointing straight down and did not move. There was no flexible hand shower. There were stains on the carpet. There were no spare toilet rolls (which were of very poor quality) and the coffee sachets were dated 2019! There were cobwebs in the living room from the curtain to the sofa and the bedrooms we had to clean ourselves as there were hairs and thick dust on the top of the dressing table and window seal. Would not recommend until some updating and improvements have been made.
