Area The historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, dates back to Neolithic times and has over 100 Grade II listed or higher buildings. The lovely high street nestles against the River Windrush, which is crossed by several low stone bridges, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Cotswolds' Venice. An annual football competition is held in the summer in the River Windrush, with the banks lined with fans, with the purpose of scoring as many goals as possible while getting as wet as possible!
