This charming country house can be found on the village green of pretty Alfriston. It’s at the heart of the village, with views of the parish church – known as the Cathedral of the South Downs – and the National Trust property next door. There’s a hotel next door managed by the owners of the cottage – the hotel serves delicious food throughout the day, which comes in very handy after long hikes. The cottage has everything you might hope for from a break to the country. The living room is cosy and comfortable, with a fireplace to keep you warm when the weather turns colder. A huge bay window looks out over the village green so you can drink in the view as you sip your morning cuppa. The area is excellent for hikers, with Alfriston located at the eastern end of the South Downs Way. There are trails suitable for every length of walk, whether you want to amble around the countryside or hike all the way to Eastbourne. Eastbourne Beach is twenty-four minutes away, with its marvellous pier. Spend a day at the beach or pop there for fish and chips after admiring the views from Birling Gap. The cottage is perfectly situated for a country break. Whether you want to spend your time enjoying the Great Outdoors or prefer to soak up the village atmosphere from the pub, you’ll love staying here.
