A terrible stay at woodhill,we stayed their 5 years ago and nothing has changed most of the furniture is tired and worn the garden is now a fifth of the size it was and there is not parking for 5 cars at the property but 3 safely,we always felt like we were being watched, the showers are all rubbish, like standing under a leaking tap,a lot of the crockery was dirty or broke ,I could go on for ages about this property, not recommended.

Me and my family stayed here last month, 6 of us in total. 3 of which are disabled. We had a lovely stay at this nice property although very dated, which lots of reviews already state. We did have a couple of incidents which were reported to the owner. The first one happened in the dining room. There were 6 dining room chairs, 3 of one kind and 3 of another. They were very wobbly and we commented daily on these. One morning my disabled cousin sat down for her breakfast and she literally fell through the chair, the legs just buckled. She already has a bad back so was in distress and obviously the shock of the event. The owner was called straight away to report it however we were unable to reach her so left a voicemail. She rang back and left a voicemail which we still have, saying she will assess it when we leave the property and that she was sorry it happened. Now I've been to a lot of holiday homes in my time, roughly 5 a year and if anyone is hurt or there is an issue in one of the owners properties, the decent thing to do is come and check everyone is ok, take the chair away and apologise. On close inspection of the chairs, they all had glue sticking them back together, photos have been taken and have been sent to sykes who we booked though. The other small incident that happened was i myself got locked in the downstairs bathroom due to the lock being dodgy. Other than these incidents we had a lovely holiday and left a nice review. To our horror we recieved an email from sykes the other day saying the owner has complained about us damaging her property, she has said we done the following: Smashed a chair to pieces Broke a slat on a bed and Rived the breakfast bar off the wall. Now this is complete lies. We are a family of 6, 3 being disabled, 4 of us pentioners. The youngest being me at 31, so no children, no party animals. We go on lots of stay cations each year and have never had anything said about us. We always leave the place cleaner than when we arrived. We literally cleaned every room before we left, took all the linen off the bed and in piles for the cleaner. We are disgusted that such lies have been told about us. As i say we do have photographic evidence of how unsafe the chairs were. If you look at all the reviews the majority say how dated the furniture is. We are extreamly upset about this and hope the owner sees sence and retracts the lies before it goes any further. The voicemail and photos are on there way to sykes, so hopefully they will see how we are genuine people. To have our names slammed as being something were not is very upsetting. Ive had my severely disabled mother in tears to me yesterday, so as you can imagine I am sad and angry at this situation. So my advice this is a beautiful properly but if you go, take as many pictures when you get there and lots when you are leaving.

The only thing i would comment on is outside property all open could do with .... The only thing i would comment on is outside property all open could do with fenced off area for dogs to have a run without worrying they might run into golf course which my husband and cousin played every day and would definitely like to go back

Lovely location - especially for golfers - with other courses nearby Helpful attentive owners - despite Covid limitations Minor criticism - for a 9 person occupancy the drying facilities are limited.. As there is plenty of garden space a rotary line or other washing line would help

March 2020
Good points - big house, lots of space, lovely views over golf course, friendly and accomodating owner who went above and beyond to assist us with an early check-in and late checkout, good wifi, en-suite bathrooms were useful, parking was great Bad points - showers are weak, furnishings and furniture are all very old fashioned and tatty and doesn't have a very homey feel, odd layout, the house-made lots of random sounds at night, some of the pillows were very lumpy (otherwise beds were comfortable), gets VERY hot so be sure to turn down the radiators when you check-in (we slept with our windows open every night! ) Overall - the property has a lot of potential to be an amazing holiday let, just needs a bit of a refresh!

We have just returned from a week staying at Woodhill the six of us have all had a very enjoyable stay and the house suited us fine.. Having the en-suite bedrooms is lovely and the bedrooms are of a nice size. The one comment I would have is a couple of the chairs in the lounge are a little past their sell by date but cusions about made them better.Just be carefull where you park if people in Little Woodie other than that no problems. Plenty of places to go and see Hull is very interesting and so many places to eat and drink there. Beverley is also a great place to spend some time looking around with the lovely Minster. Pleanty of supermarkets not far away. If you fancy a game of golf you could not be nearer first tee on the door step. Many thanks for the welcoming goodies.
Mrs Wilson, December 2019
December 2019
The property was just what the family had hoped for, space for quiet moments and plenty of room to get together.. The owner was very friendly and on call if needed but willing to let us enjoy the property privately. There are plenty of walking opportunities from the house and Beverly is about 8 miles away by car. Would we return? You bet we would. Thank you from all of the family.

Woodhill has become a proper home from home for us.. We originate from this area and having such a large, well equipped home allows us to hold a big family get together. With the four large bedrooms, there is room for my own family and there is no waiting for bathrooms. Brilliant place. And thanks again to the owners.

November 2018
As an extended family weekend get together we enjoyed the house and facilities very much .. As we all arrived at different times some of our party felt that the property needed additional signage and lighting on the approach to the house as it was pitch black and also because of the time of arrival to the house the golf club was closed so again no marker to direct people The above is our only criticism the beds were all very comfortable as were the rooms we would gladly book again

October 2018
This house is a gem and a proper home from home.. This is our second visit and we have already booked again for next year. The space is perfect for us as we are a family of eight and we always have a big family gathering with our extended families. The big spacious bedrooms, each with a bathroom, are great and all the beds are comfy. (We couldn't get our radiator to work in the downstairs bedroom but the shower room was working and as the weather was mild, this wasn't an issue.) The kitchen is well equipped but does seem to have more pans than lids and could do with a few more bowels. The big lounge has plenty of well worn seating that could probably do with replacing soon but we always found a way of making ourselves comfy. As I have already said, we have already planned our next visit.

August 2018
The holiday home was great, plenty of space for 8 people and 2 dogs.. Bedrooms and en-suites an excellent treat no waiting for bathrooms. The kitchen provided everything we needed thank you.The only downside on this was the lounge furniture was very uncomfortable looked good but past its very best ,no support in seats. We left a day early only because of my mother was taken ill.

Great property.. We were an extended family 7 adults and an infant plus dog. We didn't find the unfenced garden an issue it was very private and big enough for the dog to wander in. Loads of space and great that everyone had their own bathroom and TV. Well equipped, beds were comfy and property was spotless. Nice to arrive to tea/coffee/milk so we could grab a cuppa after our journey. Got an Asda delivery no probs but make sure to tell any delivery that you are inside the golf club grounds. No golfers amongst us but golf course was a lovely backdrop. Dog treats were a nice touch. Will go again it's a great jumping off point for the value of York and the coast.

July 2018
We just recently stayed at Woodhill and was a very pleasant stay indeed.. Very spacious layout with the bonus of each bedroom having its own ensuite bathroom. Everything in the house was to a high standard and was also very clean. It is also in a very good location with easy access to Beverley (15 mins away), Hull (20 mins), York (1 hour). Cottingham village is only 5 mins away by car. Very good takeaways there I would recommend the Fridays chippy and Golden gate Chinese. Both excellent. Now the real bonus for me being a keen golfer is that this house sits on a golf course (Skidby Lakes). If you step out of the back door the first tee is literally 30 yards away. I thought I had died and gone to heaven for a week !! £10 for a twilight round after 3:30. It’s a good little challenging course as well. All in all I would definitely recommend this place to stay and I would have no hesitation in going back there

It is a shame that the garden is not fully enclosed, especially as dogs are accepted.. Being in the middle of a golf course makes it embarrassing if a dog goes walk about.

More detail required on what to expect in the cottage e.. G. hairdryer in some rooms. There was lots of useful information in a box in the kitchen but we didn't find it until our last morning. There was no information to direct us to this. Facilities provided for our 2 young children were excellent including some games and toys but yet again no information was provided. Welcome pack of food fully met our expectations. Wifi was excellent. Information leaflets for the appliances was appreciated. There were a few minor items that needed attention e.g. tiling on the floor of one en-suite needed re-tiling/sealing, the dispenser drawer of the washing machine needed a very good clean, as we had young children we found that the curtains did not keep the light out and made it more difficult for them to sleep. Overall we were very pleased with Woodhill which was our first self catering experience with Sykes.

September 2017
The owner was very helpful and there were nice little touches like she left us some milk and bread on arrival.. It was easy to find and in a very good location to see the sights of the area and a dream if you were a golfer. Even with your description we were very pleasantly surprised at the size of the house and the level of comfort.
Mrs Harrison
September 2017
Great place to stay, we had a family reunion so it was ideal for all, the property was better than expected, so much room and the facilities were excellent, we didn't want for anything, all the local facilities, restaurants and shops were a five minute drive to Cottingham, As a group we spent time together in an evening but went our separate ways during the day, which was nice as we all had something to chat about over dinner.. Right on the golf course, we played one game, unfortunately that was all we had time for, Carl in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful. The owner, Mrs Varey was close at hand should we have needed her for anything, a very nice helpful lady, all in all a great week enjoyed by all, we all left on separate days, for various reasons, but nothing to do with the property. I can't praise this place highly enough and am looking forward to booking again in the future.

Woodhill is situated in the most beautiful surroundings - the golf course is stunning and has beautiful lakes and wildlife.. The house itself is extremely comfortable and welcoming with many added extras. Everything is clean and bright with pleasing decor. We were a family of ten and the house accommodated us very well with the downstairs bedroom suiting my father with a wheelchair superbly. The owner of the house was very kind and helpful and we have no complaints whatsoever. We shall certainly be returning to Woodhill for another holiday.

June 2017
The cottage was fine.. I phoned the owner and she helpfully provided a sheet I requested. It was welcoming to have tea, coffee, milk etc on arrival - though no salt in the salt cellars - so we had to buy it. The weather turned very cool and windy and the heating came on - but some radiators didn't get hot - probably need bleeding. It would be helpful to have a towel rail in the bathroom to hang the bath towel on to dry. The shower in the twin bed room was very low pressure - though I think other rooms had electric showers put in. One of the party commented that there were no books or games other than jigsaws - somehow nothing to give the place character and interest. These are minor quibbles - compared to the south of England it was extremely good value. It would be worth warning people who go by train that a taxi is essential to go anywhere.

All of our party could not believe the space within this property. The location was good too. The windmill was a good place to take the 2 and 3 year olds. It was clean and we did appreciate the milk, tea, coffee etc. We had good weather, so we were glad the lawn had been cut, as we played games out there with the children and dog. Best thing about this property was it's size. Nice to have our own bathrooms too.

The best thing was the space within the property.. There were 6 adults, 2 toddlers, a baby and a dog. No problem - all commented on the amount of space. The garden was newly mown, and -because the weather was kind - the children enjoyed playing outdoors. Great inside features ie washer , dishwasher, tumble dryer. Lovely views from upstairs. Nice location - loved the windmill and Cottingham itself. Took the bus into Hull & enjoyed the fish trail - can recommend "The Minerva" as a great place to eat - down on the victorian water front. A great place to stay .

A spacious house which was clean and comfortable.. The kitchen was well equipped. We loved the open fire, so cosy. The view is lovely and the house is well situated, it's easy to reach various places. The televisions are on the small side but not a real problem as such. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

This was the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.. As usual we found the whole booking process very straight forward. The house was even better than the photographs. Furnishings were of a very good quality and kitchen equipment was very well thought out. We loved the large dining room and used it as our base for family chats and get together' s at night. We would highly recommend this property to everyone. Thank you.

We used this house as a home from home for my daughters wedding.. It was such a lovely house worth supr facilities. It was an excellent base for our family. There was a lovely large table for family meals and plenty of space for all the preparations needed. So if you have a lot of people needing a base near Hull or Beverly I would recommend Woodhill.

This was the perfect place for a family gathering to attend a family wedding in Beverly. Roomy, pleasant, lovely views and a lovely garden area (but watch out for the rabbit holes!) For those energetic enough, there were plenty of places to visit during our holiday, and for those less able, the house and gardens were lovely to relax in. My 87- year- old father in law summed it up when he said: This is a lovely place, I could stay here for 12 months! A very successful holiday.

There were 7 of us staying at Woodhill and we arrived Monday 30th late afternoon and left on Friday afternoon 3 rd January. We had a fabulous New Year in this well appointed spacious house. There is a large kitchen, dining room and lounge and 4 en suite bedrooms as well as a further large downstairs toilet. We didn't need to ask for anything, everything was to hand. If I was being picky I would say take a couple of tea towels as we didn't always want to use the dishwasher but that is a matter of personal choice. We ate in on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and were able to buy everything we needed at one of the nearby supermarkets. The remaining 2 nights we visited restaurants, The Millhouse, very good about 1 mile away ,and Lazaats also very good Asian restaurant within walking distance of the house. The owner was most helpful in recommending eating places, things to do etc. would visit again.

We enjoyed our time at Woodhill, there was lots of space for four adults and three children. It was peaceful and relaxing being adjacent to the golf course. The cottage is only a short distance from the main Willerby/Cottingham to Beverley Road but there was no traffic noise. Probably because the cottage allows pets to use the ground floor areas the carpets were a little grubby and would benefit from a clean. That said the facilities provided were first class with a fully kitted out kitchen and utility room. The beds were comfortable and warm. Overall an enjoyable week's stay.

This is very well appointed, spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to four couples. It has four en-suite bedrooms, a large kitchen, dining room and lounge, and looks out onto an attractively undulating golf course. The garden is extensive and there is ample parking space for four vehicles. The location, roughly midway between Hull and Beverley, is very quiet and peaceful. My only reservation concerns the en suite facilities: the main bedroom is huge and luxuriously furnished, but the bath is rather small and though it has a shower attachment the water pressure is too weak to be effective. The other bedrooms have showers, but in one of them there was no hot water, so guests sleeping in that room had to use someone else's showering facilities. This fault aside, my wife and our friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and for a week's stay in such large premises it was very moderately priced.

A lovely house with great facilities. The view over the golf course was splendid. Lots of hot water and heating if needed and large rooms.

Very well presented. T.V.too small for the lounge. otherwise a very well equipped holiday venue My wife has difficulty rising from low furniture. It would have been a bonus to have a "Parker Knoll" type chair for her to use.

We stayed for a week with 3 generations of family while some members were searching for more permanent accommodation near Hull. This was a perfect location for that. We also explored the local area including trips to York. The rooms were large and all had ensuites. The kitchen was large and pleasant. There were several vases of fresh flowers in the house when we arrived which were really lovely. Very comfortable. None of us were golfers but if you were it would be almost heaven being located right on the golf links. We were lucky to get a great low season rate which added to our satisfaction.
