Description

Situated on the southern tip of Swanage bay, The Haven is an exclusive, tranquil complex on the water's edge, built in the late 1980s overlooking the sea and with fantastic views across the bay to Old Harry Rocks

Pier View is a lovely light and spacious maisonette arranged over three floors. Two great size double bedrooms are situated on the first floor, both benefiting from modern tiled en-suite bathrooms offering an element of privacy for couples holidaying together. A feature skylight floods the stairs with light which takes you up to the second floor. Here you will find the tastefully decorated living room, with a choice of two balconies to enjoy the far reaching views of Swanage Bay and overlooking the pier; The main balcony is accessed through large patio doors from the living room, here you can relax at the bistro style table and chairs and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the world go by. You can also open up the Juliette balcony into the side of the living room, offering another aspect and more stunning views of the bay. The beach is so close by, that guests staying at the Haven have direct access to the sea through a private gate at the complex.

Just on the other side of the room is the kitchen and dining area, with dining table for four people and a modern fitted kitchen complete with coffee machine and more far reaching views of the sea and cliffs beyond!

The location is just perfect for exploring, within a short walk you are in Swanage town, with a mix of independent cafés and restaurants along with gift shops and the heritage steam railway. Just up the hill a short walk away is Durlston Country Park, a perfect place to enjoy a picnic while soaking in the views of the chalky cliffs at Studland.

Reviews

A very comfortable apartment and well furnished, with excellent views over the bay. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Mr K,

Really enjoyed this one, a little more pricey than we would have liked but very nice. A/V equipment is appalling for this price point, fix the telly situation!

Mr Andrew M,

The property itself is excellent - very good location, sitting room views, neutral decor, good bathrooms. Website description was very accurate apart from the extra futon in Bed 2 which was in the way. BUT, the property needs some maintenance and TLC: Bed 1's loo streams after flushing; Bed 2's bed needs the bedframe screws tightening; kitchen tap drips (though the low pressure was fixed - thanks); kettle badly needs descaling; 3 out of 5 wall light bulbs needed changing (done, thanks); salt grinder broken. Grubby table mats, washing up bowl, cutlery, info folder. No dishwasher tabs, bin bags, ovengloves, kitchen foil. On departure we were asked to strip the beds 'to protect the cleaners' - from what? Covid? The WHO has declared Covid over! Could do with some simple instructions for the TV - there are three boxes and remotes and it's not clear how to get normal terrestrial TV. The property was poor value last week because of the scaffolding obscuring the view from every window - I can send photos is you wish. Had you warned me in advance I could have rebooked for a later date. The lack of private parking due to the scaffolding turned out not to be a problem because there are 8 visitor spaces between 32 properties and it's early in the season. When I arrived I noticed the kitchen water pressure was very low and rang 0800 0487197 and it didn't connect at 6:15 on Friday evening. I tried to email you but your email turns out to be 'no reply' so I had to go to your office in High Street, Swanage on Saturday morning. A premium priced property without premium maintenance and service, and unfortunate scaffolding in our week. You seem to wait until a customer complains before doing anything about issues that the cleaners must be aware of ... but by that time you've lost the customer.

Ms Catherine C,

After 50 years staying in self catering accommodation in the UK and Europe this was the first time we have ever been asked for a deposit. I object to receiving so many emails and text messages informing me that we must not arrive before 1600 and that we had to leave by 1000; one would have been quite enough.

Mr Jeremy P,
