  • "Awful experience."

We booked 2 weeks in January 2024. Really dark and dangerous access from the road during winter with no lights to assist you with finding this property. An old garage that's been converted in someone's back garden with no thought to adequate heating or proper double glazed windows. Doors and windows were really draughty we all caught respiratory illnesses. Someone thought it would be cute to walk through a dressing area with a single bed in it to get to the main double room. No hot water for 2 days and then it was warm at best. There were 3 of us and they "generously" provided 3 glasses, 3 plates, 3 cups, 3 glasses and 3 sets of cutlery. No washing up bowl but hey, they had a massive dishwasher ( not very environmentally friendly). No oven dishes provided so you couldn't cook a decent meal. The washing machine held our clothing hostage from Sunday to the Thursday when they finally called a repair man out. The splashback on the wall behind the hob had a lovely collection of dead flies behind it. We arrived on the Saturday and asked to cancel the 2nd week on the Sunday but Sykes have a disgusting customer service plan of not bothering to answer you or call you back when they say. You chase them and both the owner and the company blame each other. I was made to feel like an ungrateful wretch for asking for a refund of the 2nd week. They have offered an appalling sum of £40 to cover the clothing. Not suitable for families with children. Not suitable to anyone who likes to go for a walk from a property. Use a car, bring your own cosy blankets when you watch TV and take a huge torch with you or even a "flag man" from the olden days to see you out safely onto the road.

We always meet and greet our guests as we like to make them feel welcome. Your first conversation started with, where’s the 3rd bedroom?!? In hindsight you had 2 days before hurriedly booked our well explained and photo documented property through Sykes, who are the most professional company that we chose to help us in our venture . You had a double and single for you and your 2 sons but you weren’t happy, so we made a further single bed available, with our compliments and gave the children access to our own leisure facilities to get you through a house move. No problem. You approached Sykes to refund your second week of money on the basis you made a mistake?! Sykes response to you politely was that you were not entitled to a refund you then took it upon yourself to badger me to give your money back , and if Sykes say no, we don’t have reason to either as they are unable to rebook on such short notice, which is fair. Your view on our property is entirely fanciful based on fact that we live in a very sort after postcode 1/2 mile off main route to local towns, and down a leafy country lane of 38 residences where average value is 2 million pounds. Your ‘garage’ description of our residence in 7 acres of rolling parkland securely gated residence, is where our many guests visit to enjoy the many beautiful places nearby. In short we did our best by you. We didn’t charge you for breaking handle of washing machine for not waiting for the click, compensated you for trapped school shirts and offered alternative machine next door, which you declined. The annexe and cottage had a full refurbished 1 year ago so all new. Our 3 boilers run 24/7 heating the whole residence. I am happy we were always accommodating and polite We wish you well in the future Property Owner

  • "The property was very clean inside however the mattresses on both the double bed and put up bed were extremely uncomfortable."

Not a nice experience. Also the outside patio area was very untidy with piles of wood stacked under the bedroom window and definitely needed weeding.

Oh what a shame you didn’t enjoy the mattress. We keep up with mattress requirements as much as we can. The patio has beautiful Outlook to the grounds and it has now had its annual power clean after busy season. Property Owner

  • "It would have helped to have made it clear that the property is part of Brooklands as it was not obvious in the description."

The property is well presented but not best suited for holiday use. The only ventilation is via the doors, the light switches are not near the entrance and the single bed is not suited to adult needs . It is not at all comfortable and the bed is in a windowless corridor. The front door was difficult to open as the wood was warped and the lower bolt fell out ! There was nowhere to hang wet coats and no cloths for wiping surfaces. The only"welcoming" provisions were a scimpy bit of toilet roll, some sugar and a few tea bags.. We will not be coming back !

We wish you had spoken to us during your stay. We pride ourselves on making sure our guests are looked after, and you clearly struggled. Most of our guests enjoy the 7 acres of rolling grounds and it’s superb wildlife. It is a beautifully gated residence, with the view Annexe and The Cottage enjoying same the holiday lets enjoyed a full modernisation a year ago of which we are most proud. We are within easy driving distance of stunning beaches and attractions alike. We are always glad to have your feedback but we pride ourselves on being very friendly and approachable. Property Owner

  • "A great location, and really nice room, however it was advertised with an enclosed courtyard which it does not have."

Having a young puppy we were unable to let her out off the lead as we expected to be able to do so. In addition, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. If the beds were changed and the advert was changed to remove the statement about an enclosed courtyard I am sure this would be a 5 star booking.

Thank you so much for your feedback, much appreciated. We love where we live and hope you share the same.We try to accommodate all needs Wherever possible. Apologies for misunderstanding on outdoor arrangements. We have now had the site updated and the patio area has had its annual power wash ready for its new fencing. Don’t want to loose the lovely views but need to keep our doggy friends safe! We will look and new bed options to keep up the comfort levels . Property Owner

  • "We were very happy with the Annex."

The fold out bed was very comfortable. It might be an idea to have a proper bed in the second room with the option of the fold out bed as well. The Annex was ideal with people with mobility issues with steps. The steps into the property were manageable. It would of been nice to have a few dishes for heating food. A few brochures of things to see and do, especially for people who are not technically minded. The position of the Annex was ideal for visiting several places and very tranquil for those who prefer it quieter. I would definitely recommend this property.

Thank you so much for your feedback, much appreciated. Helps us keep our guests happy! We will take note of extra cooking utensils , and bedroom requirements are being sorted as well. Property Owner

tennis court set in the trees was a surprise. Good for touring round. Lucky with the weather and would recommend Alum chine and Weymouth . Good place for dog lovers .

  • "The Annex is a lovely property in a great location, the owners were very welcoming and friendly and it was very dog friendly for our energetic puppy."

However the one big thing that we found was the bed and mattress were extremely uncomfortable, we struggled to sleep and would recommend a new, bigger bed and better mattress. Other than that we had a great weekend! Thank you

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated. We are able to help keep holiday experiences as memorable as possible, for the best reasons! Property Owner

  • "We’re a couple with a little westie."

The property was lovely, clean, bright and it had everything we needed. We tend to stay in on an evening as we go out exploring all day and we had everything we needed to cook and relax. We even woke up one morning to see a deer in the grounds which was lovely! The property doesn’t have an enclosed space outside, so just be aware of that if you’re with a dog (ours doesn’t go off lead if not enclosed), apart from that I couldn’t fault anything. We visited a few areas, Poole (dog friendly shopping in The Dolphin, good cocktails in the Viper and a boat trip from the quay), Swanage ( beautiful beach and seaside town - highly recommended), Weymouth and Bournemouth - all easily accessible by car. Wimborne Minster was lovely too and the hubby enjoyed a few cocktails in the Dancing Moose, which had a lovely fire and is dog friendly, whilst I had a wander around the shops. We’d happily return without hesitation - thank you!

Lovely to chat with you, and our Westie was very happy to have a lady around! Thanks for great feedback and we have now discussed fitting of the sort of fencing that doesn’t spoil your view of the grounds, but secures your four legged friends on the patio Property Owner

  • "This will be a lovely place to stay once all the outside work has been completed but unfortunately there was a lot of noisy work going on when we were there for a lot of the days."

This meant we had to be out earlier than planned most of the time so not very relaxing. The owners were very nice and apologetic, they didn’t realise the work was scheduled as builders just turned up. It might be worth checking if anything else is scheduled if you want a quiet stay. The owners contacted Sykes and to attempt some redress we were offered 50% off another stay there before the summer by Sykes but when we declined Sykes just marked that as resolved. The owner kindly offered us a takeaway meal but we had already made plans. The Annex is brand new, in excellent condition, the owners live next door. Nice touches like milk, biscuits and tea were welcome. Other thing to note is the second bedroom is like a dressing room, and has a comfortable single put you up bed.

It was really lovely meeting you both. It was a bi annual gutter/roof cleaning service and had been booked months previously, so such a shame they arrived same time! Hope to see you again Property Owner
