Enjoyed a week here at the end of last year, the house was lovely, and had a stunning view over salcombe. Definitely worth climbing a few steps in my opinion. The house was well kept, nice and clean and the beds were very comfy. Will look forward to staying again when we can next get down to Salcombe.

There are actually 63 steps leading to the front door of the accommodation. Quite a number, and I couldn't work out why I kept stubbing the front of my shoe on the steps going up and the heel going down until I realised they were just not deep enough. That compared with the steps nearer the road which were newer and deeper. Best to hold on to the rails at all times especially if it rains - as it did. The parking space was at such a steep angle that damage was a possibility unless - like mine - your car sat high. That was a warning from the neighbour next door. The inside decor was rather dated, and the property wasn't as clean as expected. Taking the master bedroom duvet cover off revealed a couple of brown stains. They should have been noticed, and the duvet replaced before occupation. The property is marketed as dog-friendly which is true if they're always kept indoors. Once outside, there is no barrier to stop your pets from roaming free into the gardens of the neighbours on either side. Finally, if a fuse blows switching off some lights - as happened - you will need to get someone to come and unlock the outside cupboard to gain access to the fuse box. Don't waste time scouring the property looking for that box.

Some pleasant aspects to our stay in this property but we were shocked to find there were approx 60 steps to the front door. We accept that Salcombe is hilly and there was a mention that the property had steps but if 60 is acceptable, why not mention it so guests can arrive prepared? Consider taking several smaller bags instead of large cases as this will make carrying them up the steps easier. We had a few rainy days and this caused the steps to become slippery, further adding to the problem. After both my husband and I slipped on the steps on the 4th day of our week long stay, we decided better safe than sorry, packed up and went home. We’re in our late 50’s, both fairly fit and able and doing our best to keep it that way. Steps aside, the accommodation is tired but perfectly adequate and a lovely view.

I cleaned the apartment on arrival, the bathroom wasn’t clean and I don’t really think The rest of the house was, but I do have high cleanliness standards so this could be me having high expectations.. The bed was extremely comfortable! A pleasure to go to bed each evening and the kitchen was so very well equipped that it made cooking a doddle (I had brought my own utensils and slow cooker only to find everything I needed). We bought towels as it said they were not provided but they were as was a tea towel! Very nice cottage, builders next door very friendly - we would revisit!
