After 13 holidays here never again. Run down lack of care and missing advertised facilities. No rely from sykes or owner.

This place is absolutely stunning. The main farmhouse is full of history and character and has everything you need for a large group. It has the added benefit of an additional cottage with two further bedrooms. The location is perfect, a short car ride to the village of Chagford, the reservoir is only five mins away and you are quickly out on to the open moor. I would highly recommend this place.

A very emotional stay at Hole Farm as I can trace my Family Tree back to the 1600's when William and Ann farmed there. It is the most remarkable building that some have described as "quirky" which it may be, but I found it full of friendly ghosts that really made me and my entire family very welcome. With my wife, our three children and their spouses together with our seven grandchildren and Pip, the Tibetan Terrier, it was a truly memorable "Scott" adventure. The owners of this beautiful building are very brave to let it out and I thank them for allowing it to be shared and enjoyed. If you get to stay in Hole Farm, look out for the "HS" stamped into the right-hand door post of the room right of the straight staircase. I know four Henry Scott's lived here between 1716 and 1811. Or maybe other members of the family, my Great Grandfather, Hubert, or my Grand Father Harold. Probably the features I loved the best, apart from the wonderful upstairs flooring, are the superb front door, the main fire place and the door to the spiral staircase with the small round hole giving access to the wooden catch on the other side of it. Just magic.

We had several phone calls for people we had never heard of .. This was a little annoying. We love this house and Dartmoor and will be back for our 15th or 16th stay. So many that I can’t remember the number of times we have stayed at hole farm. Simply love it!!

A wonderful house but obviously not practical for all people especially elderly or infirm.. We loved the garden and the peaceful surroundings, a great place for a family holiday.

Hole Farm is the most amazing holiday let! It is full of history and quirkiness and was perfect for a large three generation family. We loved it! It is by no means a luxury let, but is adequately equipped. We would have liked a washing line or an airer as not all clothes can be tumble dried.

Lovely holiday in a lovely venue.. Sorry you have sold out to Sykes. Big is not beautiful. We prefer a small local company offering a personal service. Probably won't be using Sykes. Makes the first question of this questionnaire irrelevant.

On the 2nd day of our 3rd visit never been disappointed whatever the weather conditions, including that electrical storm last night (wasn't that something else spectacular!!). Place is clean and tidy and has that welcoming feel and the family just love it.

Hole Farm is an incredible place, full of history, and ideally placed for exploring the delights of Dartmoor.. What price the peace and quiet, if this is something you value. The furnishings, whilst being comfortable, are very much in keeping with the whole ambience of the place. We are in the middle of our stay, and already know we will be sad to leave!

As someone that doesn't normally write reviews, I felt compelled to leave one to counter the poor review previously left. This house might not be for everyone, BUT... Hole Farm is an amazing place to stay! Full of history, fascinating and tranquil, it really is the perfect getaway. I am booked with friends to stay this year, but have visited with family 4 previously. My parents are regulars having stayed 10+ times. Yes, the floors are wonky, the sofa's have seen better days and the fire can be a bit smoky, but this house is old and full of character. Thank god it hasn't been renovated and the soul stripped from it. The chance to stay in a house so special should be cherished. No frills, but always spotlessly clean. Old doesn't always mean dirty! Basic kitchen facilities but plentiful supples, the kitchen is warm and inviting and we have joked many times that the table is magnetic - you think you're going out, but then the kettle goes on again, papers get opened, toast goes on the aga... The gardens are wonderful and on a sunny day the place feels so very peaceful and relaxing. The surrounding area outstanding, Dartmoor truly beautiful, Chagford a lovely town with fantastic shops and pubs. Special mention to the Ring O Bells for a local atmosphere and Blacks deli for some amazing nibbles. The walk into Chagford down the lanes is also lovely, traffic infrequent out of season and woodpeckers and buzzards to be spotted. Visit with friends, drink wine, eat cheese and wonder whether its the wine or the floors that made you fall over! Visit with family and the kids will love the secret staircase and the tree swing. Get outside on a clear night and look up - amazing star spotting! If you love old properties and want to get out walking in an amazing place, coming home to somewhere warm and perfect for large groups, book Hole Farm. You'll want to visit again and again!

This wonderful devon longhouse was totally unloved, dirty and lacked any kind of comfort. We left after 2 days as the house was uncomfortable, the fire smoked badly and we were plagued with wasps[in dec??] One of our party was disabled. Very upsetting for him so not recommended for anyone with walking difficulties The lack of care in the furnishings, the cleanliness , and quality of everything was not up to even a 1*. Very disappointed and it spoilt my birthday treat for my family.
