A bustling market town located 8.5 miles north-west of Exeter's cathedral city, in an area of Devon known as "Red Devon," so named because of the distinctive red soil that is of prime agricultural quality and ideal for growing swedes. This is a rural area of Devon that is peaceful and unspoiled, with ruby cattle grazing among the rolling green meadows. There are numerous scattered villages with warm inns, well-stocked farm shops, and welcoming locals. Crediton has a variety of gift and grocery stores, a fantastic farmers' market, a modern leisure centre, and numerous family-friendly pubs.
