Gather up your nearest and dearest and escape to this Devon lodge retreat, squirrelled away within 250 acres of forest landscapes with the southwest's largest freshwater lake at its heart. Part of an exclusive lodge holiday estate, this home peacefully beckons guests looking to embrace the great outdoors. Take your pick from sailing, windsurfing and fishing on the lake (just one hundred metres from your door). Take on the high ropes course. Or give your best shot with an archery session. It's all happening down at the sailing and activity centre. Or, for something less energetic, a scenic stroll around the lake followed by lashings of tea and cake at the panoramic lakeside café and bistro might be all you need. And you're never far from the Devon coast if you're chasing a dose of sea air. When it's time for a rest up at home, the lodge interiors feel fresh and uplifting, with a subtle palette of moss greens and buttercup yellows echoing the rich fauna and flora outside. In winter months, huddle together around the dining table for mealtimes and catch-ups with views of the garden before settling down to cosy film nights. And on long summer nights, open the... French doors wide and take things outside into the garden to fire up that barbecue and bubbly hot tub – there's no finer place to toast a day's end.
