Visitors who feel inspired by the local surfers can sign up for a lesson at the beachfront surf academy, which also offers tuition in stand up paddle boarding. Just a few miles from Westward Ho!, the fishing village of Appledore, situated on the estuary of the River Torridge is a relaxing place to spend an afternoon watching the fishing boats in the quay, browsing the shops, and sampling the local seafood offered in the pubs and bistro.
