  • "We were delighted with the location of the property; a quiet road and pleasant walks to town and beaches and nearby woodland/river walks for our dog."

The climbs up and down hills did us good! There was plenty of room in the house with a pleasant separate dining room and spacious living room, and the bedrooms were very comfortable, all with views of the bay. We found the porch useful for coats and boots etc. The kitchen, however, was a little cramped for the 6 of us (though we loved the dishwasher, Raeburn and tumble dryer!). The wonderful garden was much enjoyed by our 4 year old grandson. A couple of very small points: the lighting in the dining room was rather harsh and, secondly, we were confused by conflicting instructions about refuse/recycling collection. Otherwise: perfect, thank you! We loved Lyme Regis, had a fantastic time and hope to return one day.

Thankyou for your lovely feedback. We appreciate your comments and will address the lighting in the dining room and the recycling information. We hope you will come again to see the improvements Kim and Kerry Property Owner

  • "Generally very good."

Clean, tidy and warm downstairs with spacious communal areas and sufficient mirrors and sockets and welcome pack but many small niggles. Heating and water in top bedroom very cold with no effective handrail or stairgate. 2 lights in lounge not working making reading difficult and Christmas tree and decorations left in situ. Kitchen wastpipe overflowing into yard, half white toaster slots not locking but silver toaster found in pantry. Unable to watch DVDs as no connection to TV. Front door sticking at bottom and no current waste collection schedule available. A white edge on the step into the downstairs toilet would be most desireable.

I am very sorry about the issues you mentioned. We have addressed the majority and thankyou for letting us know Property Owner

  • "Absolutely lovely house, very clean and comfortable."

Located within easy reach of town and beach, arriving down in the picturesque old Water Mill area (uphill walk home but OK). Our only problem was the Rayburn. We thought it would be fine to use, since one family with us has an AGA, but we could never get the oven hot enough to cook in, hence a lukewarm lasagne on the first night which we had to leave to be heated in seven individual portions in the microwave on the second, and undercooked garlic bread. We gave up completely on the pizzas that we had planned to cook and took the pre-made frozen dough back home with us. I'm sure that we were doing something wrong but on holiday for 4 nights, with hungry children, it's a pain to have to spend ages working out what, so we gave up. Still, the fish and chip shop benefitted! Perfect and almost instant hot water though, and good showers. And fab to have so many nice loos in the house - no queuing ever!! And the views - so great to have one of the sea from every room!

We're sorry to hear about the issues you experience with using the AGA and will ensure there are instructions for use available. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday and the house had everything we needed."

The garden was big and beautiful with fantastic views to the sea. If I had to complain I’d say better pillows as we all found them uncomfortably flat. Also better quality towels as mine ripped in use. It was also in a good position only a short walk to shops and sea.

Thankyou for telling us, about the pillows. We have arranged to buy more. Sorry about the towels. Lyme bay holidays will check that doesnt happen again i am sure Property Owner

  • "Kelly Bray is a perfect holiday home for large groups in Lyme Regis."

It is even better than the pictures and has enough room for 8 people to spread out - we had 5 adults and 3 teenagers and 2 dogs and there was more than enough room. The garden with a sea view was really lovely , and the garden furniture was an added bonus. It was really clean and the beds were comfy. The only additional benefit that could be added is more blackout blinds in the bedrooms, but other than that it was perfect.

  • "We had a great stay at Kelly Bray."

We appreciated the space and the warmth, and the short distance into town and to the beach. Our three young kids had a great time, and we would happily recommend it to others. Comments not for publication, as they can probably be easily resolved: the main (new) shower was temperamental and didn't always work, with water sometimes only flowing when the sink taps were turned on/off; the radiator under the front window in the twin room was always very hot, even though we turned the valve to zero; the lack of drawers to store clothes in the first-floor double room (by the new bathroom) was inconvenient; we tried a couple of the old board games but pieces were missing; there is only one huge chopping board - a smaller one would be helpful too; there was little space in the kitchen to store food except on the windowsills and the shelves under the window in the larder; the information in the sitting room on bin days was mixed - twice it says bins on Monday, twice Friday - I had to check online to get the right info.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback, we are very glad you enjoyed your stay. The sticking points that you have raised have now all been addressed by the owner. Hope to see you back at the property soon. Property Owner

Exceptional artistic items & decor, spacious, spoilt with all the toilets & bathrooms! Very comfy beds, amazing book collection ... would need to stay a long time to enjoy them all! Perfect location with fabulous, easy walks to Lyme centre & a selection of different types of beaches. Wonderful garden to relax in. So appreciated having parking for 3 cars. Lyme Regis is a very unique location, one to return to again & again. Have been visiting for decades and never tire of it. Would totally recommend staying in this delightful home.

We had an amazing stay . Loved the Raeburn, stunning views and very very comfortable . Will definitely return . Only tiny little thing but understand probably due to Covid -- we could have done with some sugar , basic herbs luckily I had taken salt pepper and oil . But this is simply nit picking -- loved the welcome pack . Just lovely

  • "Unfortunately I have tried several times to send this email to you but it has bounced back."

We left the property Thursday, a day there would be time to get some of these problems sorted. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter and what goodwill you intend for a ruined holiday due to inadequate inspection of a supposedly “outstanding” property. “Having just called your colleague at Sykes. This is the email that you should have received.” “Our holiday - not outstanding!! Before your next guests arrive, you need to address a few items which I list below that we have found defective and very annoying after looking forward to our holiday for nearly a year. On previous holiday we’ve had for two consecutive weeks, we’ve had the option of a clean midway through and beds changed, plus clean towels, tea towels, etc. no email was received about this. 1. Dishwasher needs cleaning. We don’t intend to spend our long awaited holiday cleaning someone else’s dishwasher. On arrival had to hand wash mugs, etc before using the ones already in the cupboard. When running the dishwasher with our first load of dishes, they came out with bits all over. So we’ve had to wash up by hand for our holiday. Not something we do at home. 2. Tumble Dryer not working. Went to tumble dry some wet clothing and the Tumble Dryer just buzzes loudly and doesn’t tumble. Tried several times. Needs attention or replacing. Ended up having wet clothing hanging everywhere due to bad weather. Not great when we thought we’d have this facility. 3. The Sony TV in the lounge is so ancient, you have to wait for the picture to come through before a fuzzy picture comes on the screen. A sign it’s just about to pack up completely. Thought there would have been one Smart TV here. I recently bought a second hand one for £30. Very disappointed. 4. The house cleanliness is not good mould, etc. 5. The TV in the twin bedded room didn’t seem to work and must be at least 20 years or more old. Bought one of these in 1980s. 6. Taps are wrong way round on some facilities. I believe by law the plumbing should have cold on the right and hot on the left. This was so poor sighted people don’t burn themselves. For the cost of the holiday, we’re expecting far more. The house very antiquated. Yes we could have reported earlier but we didn’t want to have to wait in for trades people to come and fix the problem during our holiday or let them in whilst we were away from the property. You would have had to pay us £10 an hour for wait time. Very disappointed. On arriving we couldn’t get out of the back door as the wrong keys had been left. The key on the conservatory was stuck and wouldn’t turn. Fortunately a trades guy was sent by you who fixed this problem fairly quickly but we had two dogs in the car that needed to get in the garden and stretch their legs. The fan light in top bedroom needed a part which we were told would be fixed. It still needs fixing. We couldn’t open until your tradesman. The back gate was bolted so there was no way of gaining entry there or from the back door (no key) or the conservatory (key stuck). The metal garden furniture is rusty and should be removed. The path to the back garden is very steep and loads of trip hazards. Anyone children, elderly etc. who is a little unsteady, for whatever reason, it is dangerous. Wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with disabilities. The overflow by the kitchen door has been dripping constantly and has proceeded to get worse since we’ve been here. Needs attention. Cold tap on basin in twin bedded room, no water. Access to the front of the property is extremely poor with three steep steps curving round, so one side of the tread is non existent. The photos of the property and garden are misleading. Monday 12 September, the lights in the lounge keep fading and going out, making us feel unsure of the safety of the electrics.” Regards, Lynda Skinner
