  • "We had a lovely stay, the property provides everything you could need."

Spacious and comfy. Pub next-door was very friendly and had a good drinks selection. The little farm shop up the road stocked nice produce and did good breakfast cobs. A good base to visit Carsington water, Ashbourne, Chatsworth house and Kedlestone Hall. Our only gripe was that as the property is older, it does get very cold overnight. We had our 3 month old with us and had her room thermometer drop to 14.1 degrees in the master bedroom on the first night. We were all very cold and I had to put the heating back on at around 5am. I hadn’t taken an extra thick sleep bag so had to improvise with her layers. We cranked it up on the wall for the following 2 nights before bed to 22 degrees in hope it would hold some more heat and it only dropped to 16.5 at its lowest. Just worth bearing in mind if travelling with children or anyone who feels the cold. It wouldn’t put me off visiting again; I’d just want to know to go prepared with thicker tog sleep bags & warmer pjs for myself.

Thankyou for taking the time to leave feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back. The heating is fully controllable by the guest so it can be set to your liking at all times as everyone has different needs. Regards Karen and Andy Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
