July 2020
Almost exceeded our expectations.. The cottage was spotlessly clean and a pleasure to be in. It had everything we needed and more. Only downside was that downstairs furniture looked great but wasnt comfortable (sofa and dining chairs). Sounds silly but when you've been out walking all day a comfy seat is what we were looking for.

Enjoyed staying here so much I have booked a return visit.. Quiet rural location but only a short drive into Ulverston. Cottage is comfortable and very well equipped. Warm welcome from Ste on arrival.

Absolutely fantastic stay.. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and very child friendly. It was a lovely surprise to find board games, dvds and a Games console in the living area and kept my 4 year old son entertained for hours. We visited for my Sons Birthday and he enjoyed every minute... So much so he got upset when we had to leave! The only downfall I found was that we didn't realise we needed to take our own straps to fasten my 8 month old into the high chair provided so we couldn't use it, but I'm not sure if that's just standard anywhere. We would definitely stay again.

Liked the property and the location.. Great for exploring this part of the world although obviously you need a car to get about. There was no handbook for the property which we've found with others we have stayed in. even though we didn't feel we had complete control of the heating, as it's on storage heaters, we tend to go to bed early ish so were never cold. the kitchen is equipped and suitable to cook your own meals if required. the beds were comfortable. The downstairs shower is a little small but works well and gets you clean. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would return in the future.

Can't really add much more to the glowing feedback I've read about this place already.. It lived up to all the positive reports and more. The place is immaculate. You wouldn't belive it wasn't decorated this year. It is spotlesly clean. All appliances are fisr class (none of the usual rubbish you find in such rental) and everything works. The location is excellent and the farm is immaculate. The owner is welcoming and friendly and even his little Jack Russel dog came for a visit to make sure we're at home. Telephone 3G/4G works but WIFI never connected. After the shock of being without internet wore off, we relaxed and enjoyed the peace and seclusion. I would highly recommend this complex for short or long break in the south lakes.

An excellent location with good access to the Lakes.. The Cottage was very cosy and really appreciated the bottle of wine, coffee and sugar. There was useful information available regarding places of interest and local gastropubs. We arrived over an hour earlier than the normal check in time but this was not an issue for the owners who allowed us entry. Power cut from 7pmish to just before 11pm on our final evening. Good job we had already eaten or else we could have been in a little trouble. Nothing the owners could have done about this though other than perhaps enquire to see if everything was ok. There was a torch in one of the cupboards and it was fortunate our Iphones were charged! Gorgeous farm cat purring away that our daughter loved. All in all a fantastic experience! Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.. The cottage was in excellent condition. Without hesitation we would look to stay here again at the right time. Steve was such a great help throughout break. It felt like a home as opposed to just a break away. The views and access you have at this destination are major plus. Thank you Steve.

A lovely quiet location and what a view on the road to it.. One little thing may be a house name sign at the top of the drive would be a lovely idea. Other than that great!!

Woodside Barn is perfect accommodation.. It is in beautiful surroundings, very quiet. There is everything in the accommodation that you would need. The welcome pack of wine and milk was very welcome after a long drive. It was a pity about the weather but the owners cannot do anything about that. Would certainly recommend and would return if back in that part of the country.

This is our 3rd time visiting this property- always clean and well maintained.. Very friendly owners. We have used most of the high -end cottage providers in the last 10 years- but in last 3 Sykes have become our number one, for the quality of the houses and the excellent service.

August 2018
Fantastic cottage.. Incredibly clean and comfortable. Facilities included things we hadn't even considered we might need (a handy slow cooker meant we had meals ready after long hikes), the kitchen was very well provided, outdoor spaces were beautiful and well kept and the owners left us wine, milk, tea and coffee and even brought my parents some fresh eggs. Cannot rate them highly enough.
Mrs Miller
July 2018
Lovely setting.. But quite remote. We found it easier to spend whole day out and eat out at lunchtime rather than go out again in t,he evening to eat. As the road into ulverston is quite steep and narrow and the farm access road quite bumpy. Having said that the barn is in a lovely quiet peaceful location, only the sound of birds. No traffic noise great. It is a lovely area not one we had explored much before, but still handy for the lakes and holker hall and cartmel. Having gone into Windermere on. The Wednesday we were really glad to be staying in a quieter area. We couldn't believe the queues and the amount of people milling about. Didn't stay long but headed back to the more peaceful area around cartmel and ulverston. The facilities were good and having two bathrooms made it much easier with 4 adults in the barn. All in all a great break and would recommend it.

Woodside Barn very clean and well maintained house throughout - better than some properties we've paid double the price for. The downstairs extra bathroom was a fantastic feature for a property of this size. The owner was a very friendly but discrete. The weather was beautiful so the garden made the holiday-sunny from dawn to dusk well maintained.

Finding places to stay with a two year old and ten month old is always a challenge. It was lovely to stay somewhere equipped with cot, high chair, stair gates and even plastic cutlery! The cottage was beautiful and the garden ideal for playing out. Well situated for days out including the south lakes animal park and aquarium. The owners were really helpful when we needed them and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Woodside Barn.

Can't fault this cottage. Excellent, cosy and great value for money.everything about the cottage was appreciated and nice welcome touch of fresh eggs qine and milk from the friendly owner who maintained privacy considering living on the same hamlet. Would recommend especially a xmas stay as so cosy and warm. Ulverston close for shops etc. But not too close....

Really nice barn conversion with awesome views and surroundings. Only downside is the remoteness. It really is slap bang in the middle of nowhere with only ulverston nearby for those sans voiture Steve was extremely friendly and gave us a free lift into town one night Excellent stay with great accommodation

April 2014
The peace and quiet was lovely; it was wonderful to just sit in the garden and do nothing with only the birds and sheep to listen too. We couldn't of stayed in a nicer place, it was a haven.
Mrs Slezak
April 2014
Excellent location. Cottage is quiet with beautiful views but close to busier areas like the beach and mountain areas. Owners also live on site but are unobtrusive so we could still relax and enjoy our holiday. Very comfortable cottage and a good size for a family of four. We really liked the children's books and the DVDs in the cottage.
Mrs Hindle

December 2013
We had no contact from the owners on arrival, and had to phone them with a query, despite the fact, we discovered later, that they lived on site. The property was clean and spacious and just what we were expecting, though I feel the description of the bathroom as "luxury" is stretching the point a bit. It is a quiet location with plenty to do within a reasonable distance, the weather was poor so we didn't get the opportunity to explore the immediate area as much as we would normally. The building work going was a bit disconcerting as it would appear the holiday accommodation is being added to, if this is the case it will give it more the feel of a holiday complex. The biggest down side for me is the proximity of the wind turbines, and I cannot believe permission was given to site these monstrous white elephants in such an area. I live in a National Park and fear for its future if these things are allowed to spread.
Mr Selmer

Cottage was lovely, everything was of a high standard; decor, furnishings, ornaments, pictures added to the very nice feel of the cottage, which we felt was very good value for money. The Wii and games/books at the cottage were a real bonus. Close to a really good pub for meals 'The Farmers Arms' in Ulverston. Although on the southern fringe of the Lake District it was very easy to access lots of interesting places.
