There is a network of great paths from High Dam (4 miles) which sits at the southern end of lake Windermere or you could wander to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, which is less than half a mile away, and board the train. Arrive at Windermere and hop on a cruise or treat little ones to a day out at the Lake Aquarium (3 miles).
