Property Description

The tiny hamlet of Santon Bridge is ideally situated for walkers wanting to tackle Scafell Pike (8 miles), Muncaster Fell (7 miles) or the gentler Irton Pike (1.5 miles). Santon Bridge is also home to a popular pub which hosts the annual World s Biggest Liar competition, and is a great base for exploring Eskdale. You can take the narrow gauge La al Ratty steam train to the coastal village of Ravenglass (5 miles) or head inland to the beautiful Wast Water, England s deepest lake (4 miles). Other local attractions and landmarks include the historic Muncaster Castle (5.5 miles), the Stanley Ghyll Waterfall (7.5 miles), the site of Hardknott Roman Fort (8.5 miles) and the remains of Egremont Castle (10.5 miles). Stepping into the cottage, the large porch has a utility cupboard with plenty of space for coats and muddy boots. The light, airy and tastefully decorated lounge is a delightful space to relax in, with glorious views from the windows, plenty of comfortable seating, a TV, DVD player and a lovely open fire. The tastefully arranged kitchen/diner is a light dual aspect room, fully equipped with a built in fan oven with ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and a dining table ideally situated to make the most of the beautiful views. Exploring this bright and attractive bungalow further, there are two delightful bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom has a double bed and fitted wardrobes with views out over the garden so you can watch the birdlife in the morning from the comfort of the bed. Next to the lounge, the relaxing twin room also has plenty of storage space and a charming view. You will also find a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC, and a handy extra WC. From the back porch, the large garden is surrounded by mature trees and hedges, and features plenty of lawn as well as a charming patio area with outdoor furniture, which makes a lovely spot to sit back with a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.
