As one of the big three mountain valleys in the National Park, you can scale Great Gable, Kirk Fell, Yewbarrow and Scafell from here. It s also known as the birthplace of British climbing, so come prepared. Picturesque Eskdale is nearby. Home to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, you can hop on board for a day out to the Cumbrian coast, whilst history lovers will enjoy a visit to Muncaster Castle.
