Situated between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, the historic village of Shap has lots to offer, including good pubs, a cafe, shops, and a popular fish and chip shop. There is even a heated, open air swimming pool (available between May and September). Lowther Castle and Gardens, with its fabulous adventure play area and tearoom, is just 7 miles away and Haweswater, your nearest lake, is only 3 miles and provides access to many of the great Lake District peaks. Penrith, Kendal and Pooley Bridge are all within 15 miles. Or why not visit Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter, and Dove Cottage where William Wordsworth once lived? This is a great base to get out and explore. This traditional stone cottage is accessed via an external staircase. Enter the hallway where there is handy storage for coats and walking boots. Off this space, you will find the cosy lounge with dual aspect views, high ceilings with exposed beams, and a wood burner that is set into the wall. The contemporary kitchen is accessed from either the lounge or hallway, and is a spacious, bright room with lots of storage. A dining area is set up in front of the French doors which overlook the garden and open fields. There is also a handy utility room with space for drying off wet walking gear and a shower room. As you head back into the hallway, there are three bedrooms; a double with built in wardrobe space, and a single bedroom which is accessed up two steps from the hallway. The family bathroom is across the hall and then there is the master bedroom with feature beams and a TV. There is a private, enclosed garden with seating and raised beds where you can enjoy a glass of wine on a sunny evening or relax with a good book.
